That's a great picture, I can see why it's your favorite! You look really buff and athletic too. I'm so happy for you!

Don't you love those arm rests? I particularly like it when I'm on a long uphill with a heavy head wind. Just hunker down and pedal.

I am so excited... I ordered a wetsuit yesterday!!! It's almost exactly the one I wanted. It was only $180 instead of $500. I just showed my dad the one I got, and he gave me a check right there on the spot. So SWEET!!!

I have another triathlon on September 13, so that is when I will officially be able to try it out. It's a fun tri... It's a little longer than a regular sprint tri, and it is called the Equalizer. They try to equalize the men's and women's times and do an overall winner. My brother isn't sure he's going to do it, but I am trying to convince him that he MUST. LOL!!!

So... I'm super motivated again to exercise that's a GOOD THANG! LoL

WTG, Netty! Sounds like you found a great deal! I would be interested to know how they 'handicap' in order to 'equalize' the genders. You'll have to let me know the formula.

If you haven't already seen it done, there are SOME people who spray the inside of their wetsuits with PAM (insides of legs and arms) to make the getting out of part easier. The good thing is that it works, and the bad thing is that it causes the wetsuit to wear out faster. But it's a thought. And you might be one of those who sprays THEMSELVES with the PAM instead!

Good luck and have fun.

(And yes, I am one of those who spray.) emoticon

I'd love to do a tri but my swimming is not up to par anymore. I was a lifeguard in highschool but i really have not kept up my swimming strength since then!

Nice job getting such a great deal! And I love the "Equalizer" idea, that'll be pretty cool to see how you match up once gender benefits are taken out of the equation!

Sprint Tri...

Saturday, August 23, 2008

I just got back from my triathlon!!!

It was OK... I was a little disappointed. After my last month's Olympic Tri, I thought this one was going to be a walk in the park. LOL... I was a little WRONG!!! I definitely under~estimated it. Here are my results:

Overall Female = 7th out of about 230

Age Group = I got the 2nd place medal, even though... the top 3 don't get age group medals and 2 out of the top 3 were in my age group, so I was actually 4th in my age group.

I haven't gotten all of the official times yet, but I know about what my times were:

My swim time was about 14 minutes. The water was WAY COLDER than I thought it was going to be. I wished I had my wetsuit, but I decided not to get one yet. I am going to wait and see if they go on clearance after the season. My dad said he'd buy me one, but I just worried too much about the price $500.

The water was also a lot choppier than my last tri. Lots of waves and a lot more people kicking into people. I felt like every time I took a breath I was getting water in my lungs. I was 3rd out of the water.

BIKE = about 45 minutes. My bike felt YUCKY! I haven't ridden much, because I've been working and haven't had much time. Boy Oh Boy did it show.

RUN = about 24 minutes. Probably under 8 minute miles. WOO~HOO!!! I drank WAY too much water and energy stuff. My belly felt all jiggly and I felt bloated. Although my run time was really good for me.

OVERALL... I am so happy I did this tri! I am so, so, SO GLAD I just did the sprint. It was challenging enough and for the way I felt today... I am so glad I wasn't doing the longer one. Plus my knee was NOT an issue at all. It's usually just on the longer runs.

YIPPEE!!! Get to go Relax now!

Wow! Congrats! Your times are amazing and your place is well deserved! You ran a great race! You inspire me! I am hoping to complete my first sprint tri next month and I'm still much so that I have not signed up yet. I swam 1 mile in an open water swim race today and thought about getting on a bike and then run after....the idea scared me. You did an excellent job! emoticon Enjoy the glory of that "medal."

It sounds like you did great!! As far as the distance being tougher than you expected, just keep in mind it meant you went a lot faster! I know a lot of other marathon runners, for example, who HATE 5K's because they're fast and therefore HARD. Enjoy your medal, you earned it!

I am excited and feel BLAH at the same time. I've had a LONG week. My daughter got home yesterday, and she is being a typical 13 year old. You just can't WIN!!!

I am reminding myself... As a REWARD instead of CANDY... Go lay down and RELAX... ENJOY... I don't need to EAT as a relief from a LONG day.

Ok... Tomorrow is my sprint triathlon. I am actually VERY excited. I don't feel pressured, because it is the shorter distance, I just feel excited, excited, EXCITED... I am going to kick BUTT!!! I don't have a wetsuit, but I still want to finish in the top 5 overall women and top 2-3 of my age division.

We'll see... maybe there'll be a lot of tough competition like the last tri I did. If so... BRING IT ON!!! LOL!!!

Weekly Thanks!!!

Saturday, August 16, 2008

Thank you God for all that I've been given. Especially my family and friends. I am also very thankful for my health. Please help me to take better care of myself emotionally and physically.

Weekly Thankful List:

My husband: He bought me 12 more Personal Trainer sessions, he brought me flowers on my first day back to school, he took my daughter to all her soccer tournament games, he dropped my son off at camp each day and picked him up then took him to soccer or piano, or just hung out with him. I am so overwhelmed by all his kindness and love for me. I feel so blessed and lucky and of course the list could go on and on.

I am thankful for my students and their families. I had 13 familes show up for conferences this year. Only 7 missed, and I've called most of them. I have a wonderful bunch of students this year and feel very lucky.

My dear, dear, most precious children!!! I am so LUCKY!!! They really are good kids, and I am so lucky to be their mother. When I am ornery and at times a not~so~good mommy, they are so quick to forgive me. My son always let's me lay with him and asks me to hold him. Oh how SWEET!!! My daugther got a book for us to ask each other questions. I am so glad she seeks my advice and listens to me. That's such a blessing at 13.

My FRIENDS!!! Especially my spark friends. I wish I could write more daily thank you's. I am going to try to catch up today on sparkmail and comments. I truly am thankful for you gals!!! You are so helpful and inspirational. I don't feel so isolated and alone. Your comments are PRICELESS!!! They really do help even though this week I've felt overwhelmed and haven't been able to write each of you back. Know I LOVE you and thank you!!!

Again Thanks to God above for all my many blessings big and small... I will try to be more humble and grateful daily.
