So, I have really struggled over the last 10 years developing a food plan that works for me. Like many other people, I have tried just about everything.

But.... I think I have finally found a food plan that works for me.

But But.............. AGAIN... I am reminded that it is definitely NOT just a food plan that needs to be developed.

So... I am using other tools as well.

And..... They ARE working.

Tool #1 Meditate
When Stressed
When Overly~Hungry
When Happy
Basically anytime I would have previously reached for food. I am trying to slow down and think about what I am feeling and then act appropriately...

Tool #2 Let Go... Ask Forgiveness
When I have made a mistake: Let go and ask for forgiveness and BE DONE with it...
This has really helped.

Tool #3 Serve
Reach out to others.
Get out of my own problems.
Read Spark People Blogs.
Call Friends, Family and say something POSITIVE even if I am feeling negative.

These are just a few things that are working for me today, and I just wanted to *Share*

    Those sound very healthy - a lot of people don't even take the time to think about what's going on and just go about their lives on autopilot... I find my struggle to be going through life without actually being present - taking moments out to realize what's going on, and connecting with what's in front of me, really helps me feel alive!

    Netty, first of all, thanks for the nice blog comment and goodie!

Next, I like your tools and I think they work. I have never had issues specifically related to food, but I did struggle MIGHTILY with OCD for several years in college and I know that eating issues and OCD can sometimes share the same root.

Also, after many years on Spark, one thing I have seen over and over again is that people don't let things go! It is super important to take each meal or workout (or lack thereof!) as an individual event. ONE meal or ONE day of eating poorly does not mean that the next one has to be that way. You pick up and you move on. It doesn't define you as a person to have made a poor food choice or binge, etc.

I read something on someone's page once that I thought was really good - "start every workout with a clean slate and every meal with a clean plate". What you did or didn't do yesterday has no impact on TODAY!

    Netty, happy birthday!!! There is nothing like a successful race to make you feel GREAT on your birthday!

I am definitely going to check out that Fitzgerald book. I have a HUGE issue with eating and running. Oddly, the more I run, the more reluctant I am to eat enough b/c I feel like I don't want to "undo" all of that calorie burn, which of course impedes my recovery.

I am also similar to you in that I am NOT competitve at all during races, except for with myself. I HATE passing people and having them think I am trying to *beat* them. I am also either an even or negative splitter, so I do end up passing a LOT of people as the race goes on. One more complaint! At my last marathon, I was chatting up a guy from NYC (I don't mind talking if I am not trying to PR) and I ended up leaving him behind in the last 4 miles or so. So of course he had to find me after the race and make up all kinds of reasons as to why it happened - "Oh, I was just running, not trying to PR, especially since the weather was so warm and humid" blah blah blah.... so silly!

Body Fat Scale

I got my body fat scale in the mail today and...

Interesting readings:

Weight: 141
Body Fat: 22.8% (Not Bad)
Water % 54.4%

All within normal/avg readings. Yay!

***I sometimes "feel" like I have a lot of body fat because of my loose skin from my weight loss of almost 90 pounds (as of today) but... this reading for body fat % reminded me... It's ALL in my own head.

    YAY for normal!!! That's pretty cool that it gives you water %, too! I am curious to try a body fat scale. We had one but the BF got too depressed when he saw the results and returned it!

emoticon Today, I am happy and feeling healthy. I am trying to get back into posting and being involved on Spark~People. I like this site but get overwhelmed by it at times. I am looking for a few groups / message boards to stop by and say "hi" in. I miss my Spark~Friends. A lot of my friends have left Spark, so I am looking to find new ones.

    Hiya!!! So nice to see you around Spark again! I kind of agree about being overwhelmed by Spark, but last fall, something happened with my ISP and I no longer get any mail from Spark, except for blog subscriptions... that has made it much easier to stay connected to the people I find to be important.
