Swim / Run / Walk *Buddies*

So... I always thought that since I grew up a "swimmer" that I didn't really NEED workout buddies. Swimming is so individual and you can go at your own pace etc...
BUT... I've realized I can NOT do this on my own. I need my BUDDIES.

It was so fun to go run with Spark ~ Friend Amy yesterday. Amazing woman and so fun to just chat with. It was better than therapy and a LOT cheaper :)

Also, I have been swimming with my Ironman Hawaii crazy triathlon friend Ali. She is amazing too. It's fun to go swim with her and see her incredible swimming improvement.

Tonight will be there first Run / Walk work group too. I am the one that organized it, so now I really feel like I better show up :) It will be fun.

I got in touch with a friend that enjoys biking too, and we are going for a ride next Friday. I am so so excited.

I have ALWAYS trained alone and am so excited to have just exercise buddies. I really got inspired to reach out to friends and came up with the walking idea because I am much more involved with Spark People right now. YaY! I am going to try to post to something at least once a day :)

    I had the chance to do a swim workout with a woman from my Masters team a few weeks ago and we both enjoyed it so much. We definitely pushed each other to swim harder than we would have if we were by ourselves.

    My schedule is so crazy that usually I have to work out alone... but sometimes I have been able to get together with spark friends. I find it freshens things up, gets me remotivated. I run a B&B and when spark guests come I get to work out with them and the focus on good food gets fine tuned. Such a gift. I have changed so much in the 3 years we have been here! Good work, and thank you for posting this blog to remind me!

    I think you're on a roll and in no time you'll be at your goal weight. Exercise buddies are great for keeping on track. It helps to have someone else who's into exercising as much as you and plus I hate to let the other person down.

I really enjoyed your company yesterday and agree it was goooood therapy. Hopefully we can get together next Wednesday too.

I hope your run/walk group went well tonight. I would have gone but it's game night, lol

Last Day of School

emoticon Hahahaha... Actually I am always a little sad but....

*HAPPY*DANCE emoticon Summer is officially here for me AND... the best way to start it out is to go for a run with a Spark~Friend. Yipppeeeee.

I have many summer goals #1 LIVE
What? Yes, Live.... enjoy this life I have and live it!!!! Not live it up necessarily, been there done that, but enjoy the people, places, and things around me.

I am trying to start a walking / running group with some of my coworkers also. I think this will be fun. I really have learned that I can NOT isolate myself. I can't do this alone, and so many people have just the same problems I do. So get over it! Hahahahaha...

    LIVING sounds like a great plan! Your walk/run group sounds super fun!

I need to keep myself from getting isolated too. Like I said I really enjoy solitude and find myself slipping when I do so I know it's not healthy.

I went swimming this morning.... Happy, Happy, Happy. I've only been swimming 2 times in the last 5 months. It's summertime... I am ready to swim, swim, swim.

Today is also Day 2 WW. Eating Healthy and making it a lifestyle change. Healthy = Me.

I LOVE running. I ran the mile with my students.

We only have 2 more days of school and one of them is a 1/2 day. YAY!!! It's been a rough school year.

And...... I am home relaxing, hanging out with the kids, and checking my on my Spark Buddies.

Weight Watchers???

Well.... I did my Ironman and then *CRASHED* I have not been eating or exercising the way I would like to be.

So... Time to get going again. I have gained a whopping 20 - 25 pounds since Dec.1, 2010 and the part that I am saddest about is that.... Yet again, I feel like I have proven to myself that I have NOT changed my bad habits. I still cope a lot with food. I really believe I get seasonal depression also.

Anyhow... I am not going to dwell on that. I am looking forward to this summer and being healthier and learning new life skills.

Today, my husband and I started Weight Watchers together. We went to the meeting, and we are determined to make a real life LONG life style change. More time living, less time dying.

    Hey! I feel your pain, I gained about thirty pounds between marathon training the post marathon lows. But you and me, we are going to take the weight off and form some new life habits. Best of luck with WW, I'm glad you have the DH to join you.

Beat an OLYMPIAN...

Can you believe I almost didn't go to the Jordanelle Triathlon? I have been so tired from working so hard at work that I wanted to sleep in last Saturday.

Boy oh Boy am I glad I DIDN'T!!!

I went and competed against former Olympic Swimmer Summer Sanders (Schlopy). I beat her by 10 minutes overall and drum roll please........ 15 seconds on the SWIM!!!

Couldn't believe it!!! Glad I decided to get out of bed and Just Do IT!!!

    Congratulations! Completing a triathlon is a tremendous accomplishment on its own, but then to beat an Olympian - WOW!!!
