Priorities 2009

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Resolutions / Priorities 2009:

Keep my Priorities in Line. Look frequently at my balance wheel and work a little harder on the area that is out of balance.

Balance Wheel:

#1 God / Spirituality
#2 Family... kids, husband,
#3 Self... Positive time. I LOVE me...
#4 Physical Activity and Goals
#5 Nutrition / Food Balance
#6 Career / School
#7 Extended Family and Friends
#8 Money / Budget / Spending
#9 Personal Growth / Learning
#10 Physical Environment... Clean house
#11 Additional Service to Others
#12 Fun / Recreation / Entertainment

*** As I reflect, I'm always shocked by how important spirituality is to me and how quickly I dump it when times are tough. I hope this year to keep my priorities straight. When things feel out of balance... Check priority #1 and then work my way down the list and strive to keep things in balance.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

When we finally learn to put God first, everything else falls into place, but the natural woman fights and fights that.

Race and Training Update

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

So... I have been diligently training and really enjoying it. I've gone on several long runs, 2 of which have been outside. LoL! I must say that ICE after my long runs on the knees has been a lifesaver. I really think that's why I haven't had much pain in my knees after my long runs.

I'm feeling like I have to be careful with the distance on my long runs also. I went 14 miles on the last one. That was fine, but I felt sick after. I don't know if it was something I was already coming down with or what, but I didn't like the fact that I ran long and then paid for it so to speak. That's not worth it, and I don't look forward to my next one which can NOT happen. I want to be able to ENJOY my running and training. Not feel like it's too overwhelming.

I am happy with my race schedule. I am convincing myself that 2009 is NOT the year for a full Ironman. That it's impossible to get into one now without paying a fortune, and I want to enjoy my shorter distances after doing my 1/2 Ironman. I am hoping to get into the Full Ironman Idaho in 2010. We'll see how my training goes this winter and spring.

So far... I feel like I've been training well and am ready to do my 1/2 marathon in just over 5 weeks, and I'm really looking forward to my Napa Valley Full marathon.

I'm so glad to read your update! It sounds like you're doing great, as usual. I'm glad to hear that you already have 2009 planned out. It sounds like waiting on the full IM is probably a good idea - and it sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy without it!!

You are just doing an amazing job! I'm so impressed and motivated by you. Maybe I'll sign up for a 5K to give myself a spring goal (it's cold here in the winter!).

    emoticon you go, girl!
My dad used to run the one in St George in January, the weather there is beautiful that time of year.
When you come to Boise, we just might have to try to get together :)

WSU Triathlon #1 Overall Female

Saturday, November 22, 2008

I am claiming my first overall female victory today! Sooooo HAPPY! I actually tapered a little after my half marathon run last weekend. I didn't work out much this week. Just a few light workouts, and I felt GREAT today!

The only thing that sucked was... I forgot my watch, so I don't know exactly what my splits were. I am pretty sure that I ran my fastest ever! The run was not a full 5K, just 2.75 miles, but I am sure that I ran it between 17-18 minutes? I still can't exactly figure out the math, but I am thinking 7 minute miles? I wonder if the milage was right too. UGH!

Anyway... I have an odometer on my bike, and I did the bike in about 38 minutes / 11 miles and the swim was only a 250, but I just felt GREAT! My time was a 1:01:40. I felt like I did push it on this one (LoL)

I am almost embarassed to say, but I just ran 5.5 more miles this evening, because I was bored and felt like running. My Utah Utes are winning over BYU too. LIFE IS GOOD! Oh! So GOOOOOOOOOD!

PS Saw the Twilight movie yesterday with the kids too. Thought it was ok, but my daughter LOVED it so it was worth it. It just seemed weird like it was a LOW budget film or something. K... Have a great night all!

Wow, I am impressed. Maybe someday that will be me.

Does WSU stand for Weber State University??

And yes, the Utes did win.

Treadmill Half Marathon

Saturday, November 15, 2008

This AM I did a treadmill half marathon. 13.1 miles on the treadmill. LOL!!! I am so thankful for the fan on my treadmill. It really works! Every once in awhile when I go to the gym and jog on their treamills without a fan, I totally appreciate mine more.

My time: 1:52:30.

Very PROUD! I maintained about 7 miles per hour.

My eating is STILL out of control, but one thing at a time. I thank God that I am able to exercise, and that I feel physically pretty healthy.

Plans for today: My son's piano recital, a purse party, and my daughter's indoor soccer. FUN STUFF after a long week of parent conferences!!!
