I just got rid of all my fat clothes. I've lost 54lbs so far and dropped 4 sizes so they were all falling off me, even after I altered them as much as I could. I had this dilemma as well but hubby asked if I EVER planned on getting back into them and I said HELL NO! So he said why keep them...better motivation after having to buy all new clothes. There is nothing to fall back on in case I DID slip for a long time. So mine are all packed up and donated to other women who needed them. I even shrunk out of my pjs, underwear and even needed a new pair of shoes for work! I have heard your feet actually shrink as well. So I say pitch them, it was therapeutic for me!!!!!! I am getting rid of things as I go because I don't plan on getting back into them:) You could ebay them and get money for new ones. Or, there is a team here on SP that is a clothing exchange, you could post yours and look for new ones.

I think you hang onto them. If they are the biggest pants you own, then take a picture of them and leave it places where you might be finding a weak moment. In your car, at work, the fridge!, etc...Then when you're at goal weight, take one of those pictures we all want to take of you in your "fat jeans" and show the difference! Have fun! They had a cake yesterday for someone who is getting married... I was not in the office the time of the cake cutting, but of course had to go over and give well wishes... Of course go get some cake, it will not hurt you, go head, I heard it... Man I went into the frige, got a plate, got a fork, cut a normal size piece in half, got ready to put it on the plate... I stopped, dead stopped. I thought about it, I did not need it, I did want it (who turns down cake), but I did not want the extra calories from that... I did have a couple of samples from the american indian heritage celebration, but nothing like the cake I turned down!!!!

Good job! Realizing you "didn't want it" is a HUGE accomplishment!

Congratulations on the choice you made. It is so hard sometimes especially when people around you try to push this issue with, " its okay, one piece won't hurt". Way to go for doing what was right for you. You rock!! Becky Comment edited on: 11/19/2008 8:23:11 AM Report Inappropriate Comment |
