My shorts fit!!

Monday, August 04, 2008

Three weeks ago we were on our way to the cabin for the weekend....and I desperately went through my clothes looking for some shorts to fit.....nothing. I wore his shorts that weekend.

Yesterday the Alaska summer sun was shining down and I went to grab a pair of jeans to go run my errands. I saw my shorts looking up at me and thought why not?? I put them on thinking I will just see how much further I have until the fit.....THEY FIT...and dare I say it...they are alittle too LOOSE!!

CRAZINESS!! I love eating clean ...IT WORKS!!

Nice job, its always fun when something works. But where in Alaska are you to get sun right now? All I've seen for 2 weeks is grey dreary rain.... Alas I won't know until next summer is my shorts fit again. emoticon

Congratulations! It is a wonderful feeling when a smaller size fits again.

Not hungry?

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

I am in week 4 of eating clean and I am noticing so many overall changes in my energy, my skin and of course my weight!! However in the last few days i am beginning to notice another change.....I am not hungry. Huge change from the last few weeks....I always felt hungry when it came time to eat...but now...?

When it comes time to eat my meals I literally am forcing myself to eat in order to follow the "program". I have always been taught not to eat if you are not hungry but ... I know I am supposed to be eating 5-6 meals a day. My calorie intake has severly dropped the last few days due to not being hungry? Strange. I am all about Eating Clean and I am taking great pride in what I put into my body (which is new for me)....

I just wanted to throw this out there...was wondering if anyone else has been experincing this and if so how are you working through it?

I'm not familiar with the concept of Eating Clean, but rather than force yourself to eat a lot when you're not hungry, perhaps try to eat something that is more calorie/nutritionally dense like sunflower seeds, pecans, almonds, avocado, etc. Eating something that is good for you, has good fats in it but will also provide the calories your body needs.

I know I have a hard time eating sometimes, but I think a lot of it for me is that I've not eaten right for so long I ignore the signs that I'm hungry or put off eating too long. I.E. I know I'm hungry, but I need to get "just one more thing done" before I eat. One becomes two and before I realize it, the clock says 4:00 and I haven't had a real breakfast or lunch. I'm still struggling with it, but I'm getting a little better. :) Some mornings I'm actually hungry enough to eat before I walk for my latte. ;)

I've noticed this sometimes myself. I've also noticed not feeling hungry even after a long (2 hr+) bike ride. Cleaning excess sugar out of my system also helps control hunger.

As to the 5-6 meals a day. Listen to your body and eat accordingly. Some folks do best sticking with the tradiitonal three and others with a few more.

And congrats on your first blog. I look forwad to seeing more!

I've noticed the same thing over the last couple of days. I have learned, however, that if I wait too long past the 2-3 hours to eat I'm completely ravenous then eat everything I can put my hands on.

Stick with the 2-3 hours and your body will adjust. I try to keep my cals at the "between" meals to between 100 - 200 cals - that's usually when I'll do a low fat/low cal/low carb protein shake (cytosport is a great one).

Good luck and stick with it.

What is "Eating Clean"? I don't think I have heard that term before.

Thank you,

I'm trying to get to that level. I am the type who gets hungry for the next meal and am looking forward to the day when I am no longer hungry. emoticon
