Christians Beware!

Sunday, October 23, 2011

The other day I wrote a blog about attending the Youth for Christ banquet which featured Josh McDowell as the guest speaker. His primary message is how our society has 'preached' and indoctrinated us, our children, and anyone else willing to believe the lie that 'tolerance' is the "Christian' thing to do. It is not. If I tolerate what the media is trying to hand me then I deny the Bible as the inspired word of God. If I do this then I will pick and choose what I want to live or abide by so I can continue to lead and live a sinful life. Internet has a multitude of websites claiming to be Christian. One website is called Beliefnet to which I subscribed. I specifically wanted information about Jesus but what I get is mostly worldly and often disparaging of Christians and what they believe in so you have to beware if you are in the infant stages of your Christian walk. Don't read and believe everything you see just because they say they are Christian. I have found sites that are downright hateful. Beware Christians.

Humm I visit their site and get their email too. I was shocked when I saw them promoting scary movies one of which was the exorcists and they showed scene that were well not inappropriate her with the crucifix and cursing God. I could not believe my eyes. I do not watch most christain stations if they are not biblical. TBN although they may mean well is off my list. What a shame.

You are so right. Just because something or someone says they are Christian does not mean that they line up their lives with what the word of God says.

I have to thank you so much for your comment on my blog and what you suggested I do I had already decided that was the route to go and if that does not work then I will just leave that team.

I really appreciate the time you took to explain this all thank you.

It is really unfortunate that many believe "tolerance" is the Christian thing to do. We have taken the back seat when we shouldn't have.

Not just the internet but TV too. I have watch some of them and get a bad feeling about them that I can't put my finger on but I know that they are not of the Lord. TBN has some on there that teach things that they want but is not in the Bible. Like the name it and claim it garbage. It is telling God that He has to fulfill what that person wants even if it is not in God's will for us.

Caregiving Advice

Thursday, October 20, 2011

I cared for my brother when he was sick and dying and it was difficult, to say the least. It got to a point where my elderly parents and I could no longer provide care as his illness progressed. I wish I had known then what I know now, but I got some of the knowledge through "on the job training" and recently the best advice has come from the Caregiver's Children thread. It is not always an active site but I suspect it is because so many people are deeply involved in the daily care of their loved ones and that is a huge undertaking so there is little time for self. If anyone needs expert advice, since so many of us are what they call "the sandwich generation" caring for our parents along with having adult children under our roofs. It is good to counsel with people who know exactly what you are going through. I am not directly involved in providing care now as my parents are relatively healthy and independent but I want to be more prepared when and if I need to do it in the future.

Isn't it neat that we have another arm of support??? Nothing matches someone who has "been there" and "done that" for help and advise. Comforting.

I agree. The moral support on the Caregiver Children board has been a huge help, and the folks there know so much - and care! I'm no longer an "official" caregiver, but could be in the future as DD is in his late 80's (and fiercely independent!) So I like to keep in touch on the CC board. Have made some dear Spark friends there.

Your advice is excellent. I took care of my mom for 6 and 1/2 years before she passed. She could take care of her daily needs, but since she had a stroke she could not live alone. There was some pretty hard years there because we (my husband and myself) were just winging it. We eventually got in a groove. Two years before mom died we were asked to take in our two grand children. Then we had 3 generations living under one roof. My 5 year old grand daughter was the best thing that every happened to my mom; they entertained each other well. Taking in my grandkids we became known as what they call "2nd time parents." We have been doing this for 8 years now and every day is full of it's challenges and victories. I just wish we had places to go more locally to seek advice and an occasional shoulder to lean on. Being prepared for any what if, is very proactive.

Take Control Parents

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

The internet is the preferred medium for today's children. Let's face it 95% of the information on the internet is garbage. Turn the T.V. and the internet off and play some board games, do homework, family devotions, ANYTHING, but get your kids away from the world view. It is dangerous to our spiritual health.

My daughter is 17 and still loves Disney Channel - that is about it. Even some of their shows are questionable!!! I agree - with the family times other than electronically!!!

I agree with you too and parents need to be parents and not friends. Like that want to be today.

YFC Banquet Featuring Josh McDowell

Monday, October 17, 2011

The Youth For Christ Banquet was great! I am so happy to have seen and heard Josh McDowell speak in person. His message was clear and it is one I have seen in the making, especially in the public school setting. We are guided by our values and belief systems and in many cases our children are being raised without them. We, through enlightenment, have put God at the bottom and ourselves/man at the top! Through evolution's teaching we have eliminated the need for God. We are the masters of our universe, NOT God. Look at where we are today. If we stand for what society is pushing down our throats either via, Queer Eye, Dancing With the Stars, or any other media pushing a political agenda is against what we believe in you risk being called bigots and other names by the so called 'progressives'. We are not calling names they are. How TOLERANT is that? It isn't is it, but then we are said to be judging, but I do believe the Word of God is THE truth and I can't accept what God does not. I can love but I do NOT have to nor can I accept it. I believe there will soon be a day when we cannot express these opinions freely. Our world is changing and it is not changing for the better but I do not love this world, I love and hope for the one to come as it has been promised.

Mercy Me's Song: Gonna Move

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Check this out on YouTube

I dare you not to feel better after watching it!!!!!

Lyrics:
I’m not about to give up

Because I heard you say
There’s gonna be brighter days

There’s gonna be brighter days

I won’t stop, I’ll keep my head up

No, I’m not here to stay

There’s gonna be brighter days

There’s gonna be brighter days

I just might bend but wont break

As long as I can see your face

When life won’t play along

And right keeps going wrong

And I can’t seem to find my way

I know where I am found

So I wont let it drag me down

Oh, I’ll keep dancing anyway

I’m gonna move (move)

I’m gonna move (move)

I’m gonna move [gonna move]

I’ve got to hold it steady

Keep my head in the game

Everything is about to change

Everything is about to change

This burdens getting heavy

But I’m not about to cave

Everything’s about to change

There’s gonna be brighter days

I just might bend but wont break

As long as I can see your face

When life won’t play along

And right keeps going wrong

And I can’t seem to find my way

I know where I am found

So I wont let it drag me down

Oh, I’ll keep dancing anyway

No matter what may come

Gotta move to a different drum

No matter what life brings

Gotta move gotta move to a different beat

Gotta move gotta move to a different beat

I just might bend but I won’t break

As long as I can see your face

When life won’t play along

And right keeps going wrong

And I can’t seem to find my way

I know where I am found

So I wont let it drag me down

Oh, I’ll keep dancing anyway

When life won’t play along

And right keeps going wrong

And I can’t seem to find my way

I know where I am found

So I wont let it drag me down

Oh, I’ll keep dancing anyway

When life won’t play along

And right keeps going wrong

And I can’t seem to find my way

I know where I am found

So I wont let it drag me down

Oh, I’ll keep dancing anyway

Gonna move [Gonna move] ….
