Christmas

Sunday, December 25, 2011

Well my goal for this holiday season was not to gain any weight. I didn't even concern setting a goal to lose this week because this is a lifestyle change and I didn't want to count calories during celebrations. But after last night and today, I may need to reconsider. Having eating reduced fat and sodium foods for the last month, I feel sick eating so much fat and sodium. It tasted so good but the after effects were not good. Next time I think it would be wise to remake some of my favorite traditional foods to healthier recipes.

I also want to figure out why when I decide not to count calories then I overeat so much instead of moderately eating my favorites. ????

I measure instead of counting calories - and am on a specific food plan. During vacation I had to "eyeball" instead of measure, and I know I was off at most meals. But I stuck to the plan as closely as I could (a few "cheats" that I planned were in there.) and the scale was friendly when we got back home. (My DH complained about how much he had gained....)

I am considering this a life change, so I don't want to jump off the plan...just simplify or modify when I want to - for me it's in the planning.

I agree with you that when we throw caution to the wind, we end of further beind in our goals. I have been on vacation for two weeks and I came home heavier and feeling yucky today. I have got to get back on track.

I think when we decide not to count calories we forget to pay attention to portion sizes and the number of calories we consumed from one meal to the next. Due to health issues I am not able to not track everything that goes into my mouth.
Best of luck to you as you continue to listen to your body.

Dining out

Thursday, December 15, 2011

I went out to eat tonight and I am feeling good about the choices that I made. I stayed within my calorie and fat range but of course went way over with the sodium.

Great job! Eating out is always a challange! I have to look up everything and figure out what to get before I walk out the door or I'm doomed! Have a great day! emoticon

Veggies

Friday, December 02, 2011

Went shopping today and now I have a refrigerator full of fresh veggies. I can't wait to try new recipes. I sure hope my family likes them. It's important to me that they come with me on this new lifestyle. I asked for the Spark cookbook for Christmas. Do you have the cookbook and if so what do you think about it? emoticon

I don't have the cookbook. But I do cook a lot of Chef Meg's recipes.
I already have so many cookbooks - I would also like to hear what people are saying about it.

Our family talks to our 8 year old granddaughter that we are working on "healthy lifestyles" and we don't use the word "diet." She actually helps monitor every body else.

Good luck getting the whole family on the healthy eating, I'm fortunate that my boys have only known healthy eating and my husband loves it as well. I too have wondered about the cookbook, considering getting it as well.

emoticon getting your family on the healthy lifestyle bandwagon. I have all boys with great metabolism, so they still eat what they want. My niece, who lives with me while going to school has joined me.

Getting Started

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

I am a bit overwhelmed by SP. I have a stomach bug now, so I am taking advantage of being in bed to study to site and start a blog page. This bug is kick starting my weight loss but not in a good way. Well at least my stomach is shrinking and it won't take as much to feel full.

This is true but don't count any of the weight that you lose with this. It will return with a vengeance as soon as you eat something. The body loves to regulate things for you, right? LOL You'll be fine and able to start off fresh and in great health in a few days. Good luck to you and congratulations on the decision to get started!
