Getting back on point

Three years after the birth of my little girl, and two years after leaving the corporate world to watch her grow up, I've gained all but 1lb back that I'd lost. It has been a bit depressing watching the numbers on the scale rise, and my waistline expand, but now I'm getting back on track.

I'm 12 days into my "lifestyle" change. Which means...no fast food, cutting out refined sugars, and all the other things that have become a quick fix when out and about. I've lost 5lbs and 3in so far, and looking forward to getting fit for myself and my family.

Day 2 Arrived in Greensboro

Well I made it to Greensboro, NC today. It was a little nip in the air but all in all it was a nice brisk walk. My daughter joined me today for a mile of the walk. It was nice to have her there for company. Unfortunately, her allergies took the best of her and she had to turn back.

Once there I stopped in the see the new stadium, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers and then off to Guildford Battleground. Checked out the new improvements in downtown Greensboro. Lookin Good!

Took a walk through the beautiful Bog Gardens. It showcases the natural vegetation that is indigenous to the area. Visitors can stroll a raised half-mile boardwalk to view wildflowers, shrubs, bamboo and ferns that add to the swampy landscape of the region. An added bonus is the wildlife that visitors may glimpse in this natural habitat.And then....Castle McCulloch.
Need I say more?

Headed to Winston-Salem next. Can't wait to see what sites they have to offer!

    Hey this is very cool. I wanted to say I love your background to your page and I read your intro and am really rooting for you to make your goals. I am sorry about the baby ((HUGS)) I can see you are a really strong woman and have a wonderful family who loves you a lot. I saw your idea on the challenge and for this next month am keeping things really simple but then I really want to do a bootcamp type theme. I have no military background hehe so you will have to help me. There will be 2 groups. Each group will have someone who gives out weekly orders with a wild day thrown in where they give a different order then the weekly to further motivate their team toward the goal they have. The problem lies in that some members are buff already, others are working towards that. SoI could have two teams working on different goals and not competing except amongst themselves. OR two teams competing to see who is best but they'd have to have a common goal that both buffed and getting buffed teammates could both do and benefit from. Let me know your thoughts for that. But for April, we will keep it simple. See what I posted and I think it might be helpful. Anyways, just wanted to come by and see how you are doing . hang in there ((HUGS))

First Day out

I'm playing catch here. Updated both blogs so bear with me.

Ok, so I've decided where I want to go. I've always wanted to go back to Alaska. So if I can't make it back there at the moment physically, a virtual trip will work just fine.

Heading out today I've walked 4miles. This puts me at Hwy 421 or Pleasant Garden.
Birthplace of Shane Hmiel, Craftsman Truck series NASCAR driver. Stopped and had a picnic at HagenStone Park, also located here. I also stopped in to the Petty Museum and Victory Junction Gang Camp. Hitting the road again tomorrow.

Walkin'...Virtual Style!

My friends here at Sparks clued me in on virtual walks. Now all I need to do is choose my destination and things and places I'd like to see along the way. :-)

I'll use my treadmill and walking outdoors, when the weather is nice enough. This is all new to me but, I'm really thrilled to find out how it will turn out.

See-Saw Weight

Ok what does it take? For goodness sakes, I've been 154, to 153, 154, 153. I jump up and down on the 153 weeks and get ticked off on the 154 weeks. I have got to get to 150lbs!!!!!

Alright now that I've got that off my chest, I think that this 3-4lbs wants to stay with me. However its option to lease has expired. It's got to go!

    Sounds frustrating to get stuck. One thought is do you know what your body composition is? The Body Fat Percentage or BF% along with the lean body mass and the fat weight...these will tell you what is going on..the scale only will tell you total body weight but not whether you are gaining muscle, gaining water, gaining fat. It could also be your body has adapted to what you have been doing and has stalled. OR always go to basics and check your food log for the week...did you eat a trigger food, too much salt, undereating for your bmr? Are you overtraining? These are all things that can stall progress. It might be just a hormonal fluctuation too. Hang in there. You've lost 30 pounds, you know how to do this and you WILL succeed :) :)
