Am i a horder...of my weight and food?

Monday, February 24, 2014

So im watching horder, which always makes me feel great about my house, when i see this woman unable to get rid of a rock. Seems simple right? Its a rock. A ROCK. A simple plain rock. Her house is so full of stuff her daughter has been taken from her and is living with other family. I think her older sister. But this woman is so afraid to give up something as usless and replaceable as a simple rock she picked up off the street years ago and tossed in this mess of stuff. She says she wants her 15 year old little girl too come home and live with her again. But her inability to actualy make any changes is all sumed up with a rock.

So, as im watching this im wondering am i any diffrent? Iv been trying to figure out a way to lose weight since the age of 12. I have the most wonderful son now who is so active and strong. I never want him to ever have to deal with weight issues, ever. But im stoped in my trackes not by a rock, but my inabiltiy to even say no too a cookie. My son will watch what i do, not listen to what i say. I am risking his health because i cant have the self disaplin to say no to the cookie. (Its way more than a cookie but its suposed to stand for all the fast food and just junk i cant say no too)

Im sitting here and iv relized for the first time how selfish im being. Yes i was raised on junk. Taught to drink pop not water. And my mother used to buy me diet pills and we would try every new fad diet together. But luke dosnet have to go thru that. Im the mom now. I know way more about nutrtion than my mom ever did. I cound tell you the calories in almost everything. There is no more excuses anymore. I no longer get to think just about myself, i have lukes whole future in my hands. Its time to let go of the rock.

For the longest time I was OBSESSED with Hoarder shows. Didn't know why, but always was motivated and felt good after seeing people get past their problems that held them back so tightly.

You've summed up my feelings nicely!

Luke is ADORABLE!!!!!

Oh my gosh! Your son is so adorable!!! So cute!!

I am amazed at those hoarder shows too. I started watching one the other day and had to turn it off as it was sooooooooooooo gross.

I get discouraged with my progress too. I'm a nurse and know what to eat but it isn't just about knowledge. We have to learn to overcome temptation and that isn't easy. emoticon

new way at looking at life...

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

So i have to say, as much as things have changed in my life so many things have stayed the same! My weight is back up to what it was before i had luke since i no longer have tons of morring sickness to keep it off! Every day my wellness is on my mind but i push it aside and of course use my son needing my attention too put off working out or even cooking healthy meal and sitting on my butt looking at facebook and eating a box of swiss cakes as a meal when i get a few mins! I have no idea how to keep myself motivated anymore. The time is going to pass anyways so why can i just try and be a little better everyday? My son has so much energy and is soooo healthy! i just want him too be that way forever and i cant keep my self motivated too do anything about it. Its a sad state to be in!

Sounds like you have a really good reason to be healthy with trying to keep up with your little one. Just take it a day at a time and make small changes. When you are a mommy of a little one you can't have an all or nothing attitude. Celebrate small victories. Find a way to exercise with him. Find healthy easy snacks that you like - it's much better to eat cheese and nuts than Swiss Cakes. Salads are easy now with the prepackaged lettuces mixes and deli meat. Rotisserie chickens are cheap in my area. Fruit is easy to grab and eat as are fresh veggies. Have them with some commercial salsa or hummus. Sugar Free jello and sugar free pudding are great snacks. Low fat, low carb yogurt. You can do this!! I believe in you!

It sounds like your overwhelmed? Pick something you'd enjoy that is also healthy and make a plan to do it. It could be getting out of the house and strolling with your baby. If the weather is bad then maybe an indoor mall. Take small steps and build from there. Buy a favorite food that you like to eat and is healthy. Fresh strawberries? Crisp apples? Each thing you do will get you back on track. You can do it! emoticon

You want to be strong for Luke and eating Swiss Cakes isn't going to help you get there! My daughter is almost 11 years old, and if I could go back in time, the one thing I'd do differently is realize that my kid's health is going to depend less on what I do for her than on what I do for myself. Your child learns by watching you. If your kid sees you eating a box of Swiss cakes as a meal, he will think that's an acceptable thing to do. If you want him to grow up healthy and strong, YOU have to model those behaviors for him. As far as exercise goes. You can use him as a weight! Practice lifting him up over your head and down again. Do that 20 times a day, and you'll build some fabulous muscles while giving your son a great time. Then don't put him in a stroller, but WEAR him (there are tons of methods for this--Google to find the best one for you), and take him for a walk every day. If it's too cold outside, walk him around the house, up and down stairs if you have them. Anyway, this is just stuff that I really, really wish someone had told me when my baby was still a baby!

Are we spending to much? I know i am...Fast food

Saturday, July 20, 2013

Think about it, how many times a week do you eat out? Not just at restaurants but anything from the vending machine at work to stopping at a gas station to get junk and pop? How much do you spend on food that doesn't come from the store?

I myself have been struggling with money since iv been on my own. I was an avid fastfoodie, drank nothing but pop and always stopped at gas stations for pop and candy. And for some reason I could never figure out what happened to my money! Never mind id buy movies all the time, Id say to myself "Its just 5$!" I went years with out buying clothes because I was "Too poor" too. How many time have I been so stressed out with bills? I would just think too myself why cant me and my boyfriend (At that time) Make it?? The fact is I was spending every dime I made plus some! I didn't get my nails done or my hair. I never bought clothes for myself. I never saved. I spent all my money on fast food, pop candy, cigs and movies!

Now I think about it and just wanna smack the old me. I cant believe I spent thousand of dollars going into debt for dumb stuff that made me happy for a few mins.

Any one else have those moments where they realize how much they are spending on stupid stuff, going into debt and not saving any money?

YES!!!! What I have been working on for myself is going out to eat and ordering out. I have seriously gone grocery shopping only to order take out when I get home because I do not feel like cooking. Shameful. It is a daily struggle to remind myself the cost of things. For instance, I can justify a $40 dinner for my fiance and myself, but I will not buy an outfit for that much. It is difficult to get out of this kind of mindset, but I am working on it daily.

I remember when Quicken first came out and we all finally got computers and started logging our spending into the computer. The one thing that astonished all of us was how much we spent on food eaten outside the home. There it was, in green and white (the old pre-color monitors) and had everyone reeling. I have been tracking my spending for nearly 20 years now, every penny, and it works just like tracking food. There is nothing like seeing it right in front of you, all added up.

Oh yes, since me and my husband got back from England, we now live in Illinois, he managed to get a job, it pays rather well, I also had a little girl 6 months ago, I am shocked at how much I spend on her while I'm out, $5 here, $8 there doesn't seem a lot at the time, that I don't mind though.

What angers me is when I see how much I spent that last month on take out, and that is simply because when I try and think of something "healthy" to cook, I go blank, I get depressed and then I comfort eat... this is a daily cycle for me, I say to myself "There is nothing healthy in our fridge, how do I know what to buy to be healthy? I can't do it....McDonalds?"

I know eating out every night is just as unhealthy if not more so than some of the things in my freezer but I struggle to know what foods to eat and what to avoid. You are not alone... I could save so much money if I just stopped snacking and buying dinner out...

I have now vowed to try harder to swap my sugary snacks with fruit, to drink more water and to eat in instead of out even if it means eating the not so healthy options in the freezer...

Wow this ended up much longer than intended lol

Lucas is here!

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Well i went to the hospital monday expecting to start and induction but my midwife thought it would be best to do a c section as he was messuring 9lbs 4ozs in the sonoram the week before. She was afraid he was more like 10lbs. So lucas was born at 1051 am 5/20/13!

He actually was born at 8lbs 7ozs but hes pretty awsome! Staying with my mom for a month while i heal from the c section and learn to be a mom lol i have very little experince with children at all

he loves this bouncer he takes his naps in it! it amazes me how small he is! yet at the same time how big he is since he was in my belly!

He is beautiful, if a C section wasn't the option you wanted I feel for you, I went in for my induction in January 2013 and it was awful. I now have a happy, healthy baby girl though so all is well.

Congratulations to you!!! :)
