OK, those cookies are just plain evil.

But the soup looks really yummy. I made cauliflower soup last night and it turned out great. Gave DH a little taste, and he even said he might eat a little of it, which is huge considering he doesn't like cauliflower.

It's November Already!

Monday, November 01, 2010

I did end up doing the first day of the JM Sparkers November Challenge...30 Day Shred Level 2 this morning. It had been well over a year since I've done it. I think if I do it again, I'll use 5lb weights but wanted to go light since I hadn't done it in so long. That didn't feel like enough exercise so I also did Jackie Warner Power Circuit Training 15 minute total body (not enough time to add on 40 minute workout).
I've got 17-bean and barley soup in the crockpot now that the weather is warming up again...what's up with that? It's been a while since we've had it, so it'll be good anyway.
We had quite a few trick-or-treaters emoticon last night but still have candy leftover so I'll be baking cookies tonight with the leftovers. Chop 'em up and use them instead of chocolate chips. Yes, there will be a picture later.
It's going to be a busy week at work. Lots of patient samples to work on, a new HPLC is getting installed in our upstairs lab and on the same day there is the Country Store fundraiser that I'm baking cookies for. And of course, the poster for the conference. Oh well, it keeps me off the streets.
Happy Monday, all!

Yum, the soup sounds divine. I'll be getting some soup underway here soon too -- only it's definitely cold enough for it here!

30DS didn't feel like enough of a workout? Seriously? It's been a long time since I've done it too, but still . . .

Sounds like you have a full plate this week. And yes where did the fall weather go? I want it back! But it is so nice to be able to walk outside. I can't use rain as an excuse, not this week.

Happy Halloween!

Sunday, October 31, 2010

I baked some apple turnovers last night because my husband loves them and I couldn't find any frozen ones so these were from scratch (well, I didn't make the puff pastry but I did assemble them and make the filling).

He ate two last night and the remaining two this morning for breakfast while I had oatmeal.
I started week 7 of C25K and instead of cooling down at the end I hiked on the treadmill for another 25 minutes and then cooled down. I also did my jumping jacks, push ups and crunches. It feels kind of weird not doing the bootcamp videos but it's nice to do what I want.
I'm deciding if I'm going to do the JM Sparkers November challenge. I wouldn't do the T Th days anyway because they're running days for me and Sunday is the off day but that's a running day for me. I'll see what I feel like tomorrow morning, I guess.
It should be a good Halloween. We've got the candy so now we just have to wait for the kids. I'm looking forward to seeing the cute costumes.
Happy Sunday and Happy Halloween everybody.

Wow, there are a lot of halloween emoticons for some reason.

Saturday Yoga Day

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Went out for dinner last night (only took about 20 minutes to decide on Mexican/Taqueria). We were going to go to one but realized they pretty much only had shell fish on the menu (and I don't like shell fish) so we found a different one. It had Oaxacan food. Very different. I got enchiladas. The tortillas were folded in quarters and covered in mole and the meat was on the side. Tasty! But I did miss my rice and beans.
Today I decided I'd try some yoga. I figured some extra good stretching might me good for me. I popped in the Elle Make Better Yoga and did the first one. It was okay but it was hard to follow the directions without actually watching and you're supposed to be doing the poses. After that one, I tried out the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown. Much easier to follow without actually looking at the TV and a pretty good workout. I think I'll make this my Saturday thing. I'm hoping it will finally get rid of that on and off random lower back pain that I have. And I certainly know I need the stretching.
Today is not too busy. Some laundry and grocery shopping. It's good to have a relaxing weekend after having lots of busy ones.
Have a fabulous Saturday!

I love Mexican food! Maybe that's what DH and I will do today (if I feel better later) for our 1st anniversary!

I think I'm going to join you with Yoga Saturdays- that sounds like a great idea!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Funny, we were just discussing Mexican today. It's been so long . . . I used to live in Austin, TX -- and we're now in Albany, NY -- not exactly the hotbed of Mexican, so I haven't had any since we moved here.

But I'm gonna drag DH to the one Mexican restaurant one of these days . . .

I love the JM yoga meltdown. Its not too hard and like you said you still get in a pretty good workout. Its also nice to do when you want to do something a little less intense, still get in a good workout, and get in a good stretch too! Sounds like a good workout for a saturday.

MMmm mmm mmmmmm! I love mexican food! There is this one spot I go to by my way that makes the best super nachos and the best sangria! I love spicy food! Never used to before, but now I cant get enough of it! lol.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Friday 10/29/10

Friday, October 29, 2010

I got up and did Jillian Michaels' No More Trouble Zones for the first time in about a month. It wasn't as hard as it was the last time I did it. Must be all those pushups and crunches (I could already do the jumping jacks no problem).
The lab people were very happy to see some cookies and also happy that I wasn't bringing them any samples today.
My boss has me making a poster for the ASN (American Society of Nephrology) conference in a few weeks....fun. At least I don't have to go. But it does require PowerPoint which didn't come on my computer. Luckily our IT guy was nice enough to loan me a copy to install :-)
In my rush to leave this morning, I forgot my lunch. Part of it, anyway. I remembered my broccoli and my breakfast (Ezekial english muffin with peanut butter....so tasty) but neglected to bring the Amy's bean burrito I had planned to eat. I had to go down to the dreaded canteen and buy a sandwich. I ended up with half a "Plaza"- roast beef, turkey and swiss on a wheat roll. Not too bad but more sodium than I'd like. Oh well.
We'll be going out to eat tonight but I have no idea where. We'll probably spend a good 15-20 thinking of something (like we usually do).
I'm glad it's going to be a relaxing weekend. Nobody is coming over. If I don't get to Whole Foods today then I'll do it tomorrow but that'll be the big errand of the weekend.
Happy Friday!

Good job on the workout. I bet your co workers loved the cookies!
We are going out to eat tonight also. And we do the same thing. Sit there and think for a good while before everybody agrees on something. But our usual is Mexican and I get the lunch size fajitas and only use one of the tortillas.
Have a great weekend!
