Cooky Recipe Number 8: Jubilee Jumbles

Friday, June 01, 2012

Another cakey drop cookie. Tasty, though. This one had sour cream in the batter. Added a good flavor and texture. Yes, Sheila, there are walnuts in these cookies :-)
The next recipes will be bar cookies.
In other news, I registered for the Las Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon just a little while ago. Hopefully this year I can actually run it instead of just picking up a very expensive technical t-shirt.

Two of my favorite foods: sour cream and cookies.
I bet you'll do awesome in the half marathon. Yay!
I chickened out on running last Monday and Mastered My Metabolism instead. My feet haven't been happy the past couple weeks, but they love my new running shoes on the elliptical:)
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Those cookies look good but if I ate I would die, I am deathly allergic to sour cream, but not cheese, milk or dairy products so go figure. :(

Hershey's Perfectly Chocolate Cake for My Brother's birthday

Sunday, May 27, 2012

This is his favorite chocolate cake. This year he asked for chocolate mint icing. I decided to add a surprise and chopped up some Andes Mints and put them between the layers.

Here it is frosted.

I got some fun candles to put on top.

It was an excellent cake. Moist and chocolatey...just the way it should be.

Cooky Recipe Number 7: Molasses Jumbles (Spiced)

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Since we've got friends and my brother coming over today, I baked the next recipe in the Betty Crocker Cooky Book, Molasses Jumbles. I made the spiced variation that calls for ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon. These smelled fab. I haven't tried one, not even the dough. These cookies are even eggs or butter.

We're going to walk over to Johnny Garlic's for lunch. It's looking like a beautiful day and we'll burn a few calories.
Happy Saturday!!

What about the dough? Did you try some of it? Oatmeal cookie dough is my favorite.

Since you are a cookie baking expert, maybe you could help me.
There is a lady at church who does not share her recipes. She makes the most amazing bar cookie I have ever had. It has a shortbread layer, then a chocolate layer (almost like melted chocolate chips or Hershey bar) then another shortbread layer on top. She calls them candy bar cookies. I've searched the internet & can't find a recipe that is anything like it. Do you have any ideas of where I could find a recipe?
I may just have to start expeirimenting & come up with my own. This lady is moving to KY in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping she'll makes these one more time before she's gone!
