I started out the day with C25K Week 6 day 1, 25 jumping jacks, 25 pushups and 30 crunches. Since it's the last week of the 28 day bootcamp (day 25) I did the video twice. It was upper body so that entailed 20 more pushups. Boy were my arms tired.
We drove up to San Francisco in the rain to have brunch with some friends. Very nice but wet. I had an excellent tofu scramble (jalapenos, cilantro and ranchero sauce) and the home fries were quite tasty, too. I forgot to get a picture.
After we got back, I mixed up some cookie dough for a potluck at work on Tuesday. I'll bake them tomorrow and post a picture.
All in all, it was a very nice but busy weekend. Hopefully next weekend will be a little less hectic. I should head to bed soon so I can get up in the morning to exercise before work. It is nice to get home and be able to just do chores rather than rushing to get a workout, then cook dinner and then get stuff done.

Busy Saturday

I got up early-ish (5am) today and got out the butter and eggs for all of the baking going on today. Then I hiked for 65 minutes on the incline trainer, did my 25 pushups, 25 jumping jacks and 30 crunches. Now that I'm in the 4th week of the bootcamp (they want you to do the videos twice or 3 times for 3 or more days of the week) I did the video twice (lower body).
After I showered and had oatmeal for breakfast, the baking began.
I baked chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes for a potluck that should start in about an hour. You make cookie dough and freeze it in little balls. Then you put them on top of the cupcakes before you bake them. They should have cookie dough in the center (rather than a baked cookie). I guess we'll find out later.

Then I baked some gluten free toffee brownies because I'll be seeing my gluten intolerant friend, Angelica, tomorrow and wanted to bring a treat. These should be tasty.

I hope to get to bed at a reasonable hour. I'm starting week 6 of C25K in the morning.

    I love the cupcake tree! Where did you find the gluten-free toffee brownie recipe? One of my best friends has celiacs disease and cannot so much as look at gluten . . . she misses all the tasty desserts!

I got up early again and did my Bootcamp video (cardio) then did another cardio video from exercise tv on demand (I can't remember which one but it was Cindy Whitmarsh). Also did my jumping jacks, crunches and pushups. Kind of an easy day but that's okay.
I'm glad it's Friday. It seems like it's been a long week.
Last night my husband (who exercises very infrequently) decided to do some. He did one of the preset workouts on the incline trainer and then did some running. He ran 20 minutes at 6mph. That's the same as I did yesterday. I was sort of annoyed because he rarely exercises and then just does 2 miles. I work out a lot and it took me 5 weeks with the plan to get there. I was sort of sad and still am a little. I know that I shouldn't compare myself to him, but it's hard not to. I know I had actually gotten to the end of week 5 before (first week of August) and then hurt my back. I was trying to take it easy on it so it could heal, so I avoided any running or jumping for a while.
I was so excited about my workout yesterday until last night.
I need to get past that and just keep plugging along. I'll get to 3 miles soon.
Anyway, I'm testing a recipe for Smothered Pork Chops tonight. I think I'll make some mashed potatoes and green beans to go along with them. There will be a picture later, so stay tuned.

Very tasty but kind a pain to make. Definitely wouldn't do it again on a work day.

No, I didn't eat the whole pork chop. They were gigantic. I had about half.

    Woot! I compare myself to Aravan sometimes when we are working out together and let me tell you he can out do me every time but some days it gets to me. He always makes sure to let me know I shouldn't compare myself to him but it is hard not to. Hope the dinner is yummy! Have a fantastic weekend!

    Happy friday! Can't wait to see the pic of the pork chops- they sound scrumptious! Don't let DH get you down- mine is exactly the same way. I think it's a guy thing. You are doing amazing and don't let anyone (yourself included) tell you different!

    NP. it was discussed in a running team. Men are faster in races up to 1/2 marathons, but when you get to marathon or an ultra marathon, woman usually win as we have more staying power.

    I'm always surprised when people who don't work out much suddenly do something difficult - but they tend to just do it once in a while, which doesn't do them much good. Forget it - just think about what you do, day in and day out!

C25K Week 5 and 28 Day Bootcamp Week 3.....Done!!

I got up at 3am to do my exercise today (because I'm probably crazy). I did the 20 minute run and it felt great. I did slow it down a little (5.8mph from 6mph) for the last 5 minutes because I saw my heart rate was about 170 and figured I should be so close to my max heart rate. I did the bootcamp (abs) after as well as the jumping jacks, crunches and pushups. Those pushups were pretty hard today....maybe because I did so much upper body yesterday and used up lots of glycogen running.
It will be weird to start week 6 because it'll be back to run/walk intervals but it should be fine.
I had some peanut butter on a multigrain english muffin for breakfast when I got to work. Boy, I was hungry.
Hopefully all the morning exercise will make my drive home from work less aggravating. Well, it will be aggravating but maybe I won't feel like killing the slow drivers in front of my so much. I can hope.

    Amazing job! Sadly, I have yet to find a workout that can help me deal with my frustration at slow drivers on the way home.

I got up this morning too and tottled out.. brrr it was 38 degrees... was fine once I got running but boy, was that a FAST warm up walk!

I can't believe you did all that other stuff afterwards too! amazing. I'll probably do Curves tonight. Have a good one!

A day of rest, sort of

I decided since I hadn't taken a day off cardio for at least the three weeks that perhaps I should. I did my bootcamp (upper body) and needed more so I did the 15 minute Jackie Warner Power Circuit Training upper body portion. Yes, I did my 25 pushups, crunches and jumping jacks as well. And I ran up and down the stairs between the second and fourth floors of the VA hospital half a dozen times. So it was sort of a day off of cardio.
Dinner tonight will be some whole wheat pasta with turkey meatballs and Newman's Sockarooni sauce (yummy) and some broccoli. That will hit the spot.
I'm looking forward to my 20 minute run tomorrow. I may even get up early to do it. I'll see how early I get to bed tonight.

    Well, if THAT's taking a day off.....then I must be a slacker !!!! But I do hear ya about taking a day off (or sort of...) For me, the past 17 days, every day there has been running and jumping and lifting and crunching and planking and it's non-stop! BUT we will be better for it!!!! Keep it up girl!!!

    Lol! I can't believe you consider that resting! I'm still exhausted from my run this morning, and I can't seem to warm up. I didn't get much else accomplished today, although I did pack a few more boxes and carried a bunch of stuff from the spare bedroom down to the dining room. The dining room has become the "moving" area. I'll have to take a pic of it- it's a total disaster! Haha! On the upside, we are going to do the walk-through on Saturday and I think we can start moving in on Sunday! Yippee! I'll keep you posted :) I'm off to do my 10 minute bootcamp and then I'm going to bed. Nighty night :)
