I have finished week two of Slim in 6 and I'm ready to start week three and the final workout of the set, Burn it Up. Yesterday I did the elliptical for 30 minutes and other than my ankle being a little cranky for part of it, it went very well. I'm planning to try out a little walk/hike on the incline trainer this morning. I have the NordicTrack that Jillian Michaels promotes (an older model) and some of her workout SD cards so I'm going to do #1 this morning....20 minutes...before attempting my Burn it Up. Hopefully it will all go well.
I emailed the podiatrist on Friday to make sure all the weird foot/ankle stuff was in the normal range of things:
Hi Dr. XXX,
My foot, especially the outer ankle, has been sore. It comes and goes sort of randomly all over. Not necessarily when I'm walking or standing but sometimes just when I'm sitting doing nothing. I assume it's because it's still getting used to not having the boot on. Calves and shins have been sore, too. Does it usually take longer than 2 weeks? I'd like to do a little walking but don't want to push it to quickly.
Yes, being in the boot can lead to the kind of symptoms you're having. Unless things are very uncomfortable I would recommend that you continue activities of daily living and not try to limit your activity. Your feet and legs should adjust. You could consider ibuprofen or naproxen as an interim way to get through the pain. If this continues we could talk about other medications especially if you continue to have pain during non-weight bearing periods. I'd be happy to call you or see you again if you want to discuss this further.
So I guess I'm doing okay. It hasn't really been painful enough for me to even consider ibuprofen but I took one last night to take any inflammation down.
I'll be heading down to get some water and then come back up and try my little workout.
Then there will be some banana bread baking...deciding if I'll throw in some macadamia nuts and coconut instead of the usual walnuts....hmmmmmm...
