Weekend Stuff

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Friday night I baked chocolate chip cookies for my friend who is going to Israel.

Saturday morning I got up and did a nice ride on the bike in preparation for the tasty food we'd be having:

Then I got dressed and we went to Taco Bell for a snack since the food wasn't being served until 4pm but the wedding was at 1.

(chicken burrito spreme fresco style)
I have no pics of the wedding which was all in Spanish so I didn't catch all of it, but here is what I had to eat....carnitas and the table setting.

We stayed until about 6:30 and then went home to change into a little more casual clothes and head over to the restaurant for the going away party. I forgot to get a picture of the falafel I had. It was a little soggy...I was disappointed. Dinner wasn't until about 9pm.
We got home very late but I did get up to ride the bike again:

I've been having chocolate shakeology with unsweetened almond milk for the past week as breakfast. I'm going to see if it makes any difference after 30 days.
My husband went out for an 11 mile long run. By the time he got back and showered we were both ready for lunch. We headed to Southern Kitchen and I got turkey sausage, egg whites, hash browns and rye toast. I did eat all the egg whites and half of the rest. He took care of any leftovers ;-)

We stopped at Petco to pick up some kitten food.
Have a great rest of your Sunday.

Sounds like a fun weekend! You looked lovely for the wedding - I've got one in 3 weeks & the ceremony doesn't start til 7 pm! Ugh!

The kitten is doing really well if it's playing with toys - the hiding thing is normal even when they're not feral! You'll be having fun with it in no time. And probably getting scratched up, too.

    That blouse is lovely!
Nice mileage. I'm still thinking about a track stand. I bought Billy's new dvd's, maybe I didn't have to tell you that;) they haven't arrived yet. But my comfy bike needs a new back wheel too, and taking care of that is a pain.
Anyways, love the piks.
The shake is not a bad idea at all, I think I have some that I purposely forgot about because it tastes like dirt, but if I get some chocolate protein shake, maybe I can blend them and use it up. I forget how good dirt makes me feel.

Not a particularly exciting week

Friday, October 21, 2011

My exercise this week has been a lot of biking and a little upper and lower body strength training (either seated or lying down).
No food pics...sorry. I will try to get some this weekend.
We have a wedding to go to tomorrow afternoon (husband's co-worker) and then in the evening we are going to a farewell party for a friend who is moving to Israel. I will be baking some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow morning..or maybe I should do it tonight so they are definitely done before our busy day. The cookies are for the friend going to Israel, not a wedding gift.
We have been feeding some feral cats in our neighborhood. On Saturday evening my husband had gone out front to put some food out for them. He came back in carrying a calico kitten. He decided he wanted to try to rescue her because we have noticed that the number of cats around the neighborhood has been dwindling. The neighbors?? She is still hiding from us but we hear her playing and eating. Malika has shown no malice, only curiosity. Hopefully we'll be able to coax Callie out of hiding soon. Then we can take her in for shots and have her fixed.
I guess I should take some butter and eggs out to warm up if I'm going to bake tonight.
Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Roundup

Sunday, October 16, 2011

Biking, biking and more biking. My butt certainly isn't liking it even with the padded shorts but I'm glad to be burning a few calories.
Friday evening we went grocery shopping because we didn't think we'd have time over the rest of the weekend.
Saturday my husband went to a Porsche model contest at Laguna Seca Raceway. Apparently there were also some real Porsches there racing. I didn't join him for two reasons: 1. I wasn't sure if I should be doing quite that much walking and 2. I had some baking to do for my niece's birthday. While he was gone I did 3 loads of laundry, the dishes and the vacuuming as well as baking.
I made oatmeal cookies:

and some white cupcakes. Today I made the frosting for them....watermelon 7 minute icing. It's amazing the the flavors you can find.

Today we met up with her for a late lunch/early dinner at TGI Friday's. I forgot to get a picture of the dragon fire salmon I had. It was sweeter than I expected and not spicy at all to me but tasty.
I will be heading to bed early tonight. I made a pact with LAREISHA that I would do my workouts in the morning this coming week...actually I really need to on Monday because I have a dentist appointment in the afternoon. emoticon
Have a great evening.

emoticon on continuing to get your cardio in!

Guess what? Dr released me today to workout/jog, etc. He said I would be sore when I first start so don't overdo it and to take Tylenol. Hubby won't allow me to workout unless he is with me b/c he knows me so well! emoticon

Have a great day, WHOO HOO almost Friday. Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow, you're only a day away! emoticon This is what I will be singing next week since I return to work on Monday.

watermelon icing sounds GREAT! sorry your butt still hurts from the biking. mine does too. i try to do some "sprints" getting my butt out of the saddle every few minutes, but those sprints can wear you out fast!
i did figure out that the more padded the saddle, it does NOT make it more comfortable. what has helped, no pantys. all the extra seams, elastic, etc. really rubs me the wrong way.

Have a Wonderful Week!

Never heard of Nosferatu, will have to look it up.

Here's another to add, what is the Creapiest line in a movie? Mine was Amitiville Horror, 'Get OUT!' I actually HEARD that when showing a horse.. I got the hell out of the ring!

Yay for Tuesday!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

After fasting all day on Saturday we went to my aunt and uncle's house to break the fast. Lots of yummy food: chicken, roasted veggies, rice, challah, 2 kinds of honey cake and the brownies I made. What a tasty evening and it was good to see them. Sorry, no pictures. I totally forgot.
Sunday I got in a nice 18 mile bike ride. Must have been all the sugar from the previous night ;-) Then it was grocery shopping and visiting my husband's friend at the hospital.
Yesterday I got in a good 12 mile ride. We had some smoked fish and bagels for dinner. Lox and peppered mackerel. Both very tasty.

After dinner, I baked some pumpkin chocolate chip pecan cookies for my husband to take to the car model guys tonight. Yum!

It's been raining here but it's supposed to clear up this afternoon. We shall see. I will get in another bike ride this afternoon. I know it's boring hearing about the biking ( as boring as the biking itself). I'll be happy when I can report some different cardio.
Have a fabulous day :-)
