Boo Boot!!

Well, ask the podiatrist and get crappy news:
Hi Natalie,

I did check in with Dr. X about you while I was away. If I'm not mistaken, he has place you in an eBoot and I approved of this treatment.
There are no other recommendations other than using the eBoot for about 6 weeks. I assume you've been in it now for almost two weeks so it would make sense for me to see you again in 4 weeks. I will ask my assistant to arrange this. I will most like order a follow up xray at that time though it still may not show up on standard xrays.

See you in a few weeks.
On a happier note, here is a picture of dinner from last night. I got Joe's Omelet. If you haven't been to the SF Bay area, it's a common dish either as a scramble or an omelet. It always is eggs, ground beef and spinach. My version was egg whites and had some "swiss" cheese (it was not was the Kraft singles kind). Still tasty, though. I have another half for lunch today.

Looking forward to the weekend and more biking in the boot (not). This afternoon will be some upper body ST including push ups and maybe some Rockband drums. Giving my butt a break and will resume the bike tomorrow.

EDIT: I just got appointment confirmations. 11/1 is the day I get an x-ray and see the podiatrist. Nearly 8 weeks in the boot.

    You can do it, just be glad you're not DH, another 3 months on top of the 8 weeks he's already had in cast and boot! At least it's a boot not a cast so you can still walk and drive...

DH had to have a CT scan before they could see the damage properly for his ankle, sometimes an X-ray just wont do it..

    Oh, hang in there! The boot isn't fun at all, but it does work. Had a similar treatment/;confinement' almost 2 years ago. Good for you for biking with it! Mmm, dinner looks delicious...

    when i had a foot problem many years ago, they did some sort of nuclear testing on it to find out if it was fractured. seems like they could do that for you to be certain since it didnt show up in an xray. i sure hope it isnt still hurting!

Made it to Thursday

Wednesday morning I was very good and rode 9.2 miles on the bike in the morning. I knew it was going to be a long day at work and I had a chiropractor appointment in the afternoon. Luckily my back has been doing pretty well with the boot. I guess I've picked a good shoe to balance it with.
This morning I also got up early to do my workout. 10.2 miles on the bike followed by some weighted leg lifts. I'm meeting up with my best girlfriend for dinner tonight. I'm actually craving some breakfast so we're going to a local diner that serves breakfast all day. It'll be nice to have a girl's night out. Coincidently, my husband is meeting up with some of his friends at the same place. We shouldn't run into them though since we're meeting at 5:45 and the guys go to a hobby shop first and don't get to dinner until about 9pm.
I'm definitely looking forward to Friday and the weekend. It'll be 2 weeks in the boot. Hopefully only 2 more.

Today started out kind of crappy. I woke up feeling kind of dizzy and nauseated. I decided to go back to sleep for a bit instead of riding the exercise bike. I'm pretty sure it was just my sinuses.
It sort of went away. I ended up leaving work a little early. I think being outside helped.
Later I rode 9.62 miles and did my push ups (14, 14, 10, 10, 15) and some other upper body.
I baked some cookies for my husband to take to his friend's house tonight. They are chocolate and peanut butter chip.

We tried out Trader Joe's Pork Masitas (cuban style pork with rice and beans and plantains) along with Trader Joe's Asian Style veggies. A tasty meal.

Not a very exciting day. But that's okay.

    I've spent a lot of time laying on the couch watching tv lately . . . but I needed the rest. The last few weeks have been really busy, for me anyway.

The hip feels a lot better & it's tempting to run today because the weather's supposed to be nice & tomorrow is supposed to rain . . . again . . . but I think I'll give it one more day anyway. Was tempted to skip icing this morning but did it anyway.

Got the email about the R&R new yr's eve HM . . boy that looks like fun! Maybe next yr! Can't remember the bands now but I know I liked one of them . . .

Chocolate & PB . . . yummo . . . chocolate chocolate PB would be even better . . . debating on whether I need to tempt myself with the chocolate dipped pretzels at the farmer's market this weekend since it's the last one for that market . . .

Hope you like the jeans! At least kohls makes returns easy. I'm going to make another trip today to try them on again & hope that the sizing in shorts isn't too much different. I'm supposed to get a coupon in email for 10% off for signing up for emails, but today is also the last day to get kohls cash . . .

Long Run Sunday

Obviously, no long runs for me. My husband did one today, though.
I've been good...trying to stay off my foot. I did get in 12 miles on the exercise bike this morning and I've been keeping up with my ST. I did push ups today.
Yesterday was filled with laundry and groceries. And I got a new iMac, so I spent time setting it up and transferring files from my old PC.
Yesterday we tried out a new falafel place. I got the vegetarian appetizer platter (no, I didn't eat it all). As you can see, I forgot to get a pic before I started eating. My bad.

Today I baked some Oatmeal cookies with cranberries, walnuts and white chocolate chips. They are a birthday present for my sister-in-law. We're getting together for lunner this afternoon.

I guess it's time to get dressed so we can get going.

    12 miles on the bike is frankly pretty bad ass.
My 2 fave co-workers and I found an excellent Greek restaurant 5 blocks from work, and we've been going 2 or 3 days a week. I guess we figure we have to catch up from all the time it was there and we didn't know about it;) It's as good as yours looks, mmmmmm. Have fun with the family! emoticon

Time for an Update

My ST schedule is Monday and Thursday for lower body and Tues and Friday for upper body.
The lower body consists of a lot of different leg lifts (either seated or lying), donkey kicks and I have been doing squats but making sure to put weight on my heels. I've been strapping on a 2lb ankle weight on the good leg to compensate for the boot.
Upper body is all seated except for push ups. I just started the hundred push ups challenge on Tuesday and will be doing it Tues, Fri and Sun.
I've been biking when I can. I got in some yesterday and today...trying to keep some cardio fitness going.
I went ahead and ordered the shorter model of the boot. The large was was making it hard to drive because it would get stuck under the seat making it uncomfortable. I'm lucky it wasn't on my driving leg and that I don't drive a stick. I checked with the podiatrist who's covering for mine and he said it would be fine.

Week one on the boot is nearly done. Hopefully only 3 more to go. My foot has been feeling pretty good. I really haven't noticed much soreness at all. I did get the results from the x-ray last Friday. They were unable to see anything so they figure it's pretty small. I guess when my doc comes back from vacation, I'll probably got in to see him. I'm not exactly sure what's going to be happening. I suspect he'll be surprised since when he left, he thought I had tendonitis.
I think the migraine that I've had for the past few days is finally gone (fingers crossed). It was bad enough this morning that I stayed home from work, but it's good now.

I was doing the New You Bootcamp with my boot on bcz it uses a lot of stability ball that the boot allows to do... I am all heart with you! emoticon

    My husband ran around for months not realizing he had broken a bone in his foot and needed surgery. So sorry you have to go through the whole experience. I can see it has not stopped you from cooking up a storm!

    YAY for a smaller boot, Im sure that will be more comforable than the one you have. Hopefully you have a short recovery period. Get job on the workout plan!

    I never thought of ordering a smaller boot. Course, I had broken my leg in 3 places and it was VERY obvious on the x-ray. It was my driving foot, so that made life interesting for 8 weeks in a cast, plus the weeks in the boot.

I knew you would figure out an exercise routine anyway!! Determined Soul that you are!

    Woohoo for the small boot! And great job on keeping up the exercise. I'm doing my third Magic Mile today, that'll be my most taxing workout this week (the rest of it, I pretty much spent on the couch. Hate being sick).

    I wonder if you could do aqua jogging (do you have access to a pool?). You wear a flotation device around your waist and your feet don't touch the bottom of the pool. It's great cardio and uses your running muscles.
