Even after being good and icing my foot, and stretching my calves and resting my foot yesterday (I play bass drum with my other foot), my wonky foot was sore today. I even wore the clogs and it wasn't happy. I emailed the podiatrist and he suggested I come in so he could give it a look. He poked and pushed and had me walk up and down the hall. He asked if I had any musculoskeletal issues and I said, I have arthritis in my back and knees (and probably hands). What kind? Osteorthritis. Hmmmmmm. Any hip issues. I said one of my hips is higher than the other and I've been going to a chiropractor to see if anything can be done (and it makes my back feel better).
I walked out with a new shoe:
He said to try it for a week and see if it helps. He said they sometimes put a cast on people's feet but didn't think my problem warranted it...too drastic.
He also made an appointment for a bone scan of my foot to check for arthritis. That way if it was the issue I could just ignore the piddly annoying little soreness and just run on it. Yes, other things could show up on the scan but it would be nice to know what the deal is. Then he said that he will be out of the office next week (away from email, too) but one of his colleagues will let me know the results.
He's off on a week long bicycling trip in Oregon. I sort of doubt he told all of his patients.
It's going to be an interesting week. I hope there are no inspections in the lab. I'm not supposed to wear open-toed shoes ;-)
