Magic Mile #2, Sparkpeople Motivator, C25K Running for Beginners

Quite a lot has happened since yesterday when I couldn't think of a title.
Last night I got an email from the leader of C25K Running for Beginners team asking if I would like to co-lead because the current co-leader was stepping down for a while. I figured, why not. Could be fun. Not quite sure what I'm in for.
This morning we headed out for our second magic mile at the track. Still too many people out there, but what can you do. I managed to shave 13 seconds of my first mile coming in at 9:43. emoticon Then we finished our remaining 3 miles and with warm ups and cool downs it came in at 5 miles total.
While my husband took a shower, I did the Call on your Core workout from the Sparkpeople Fit, Firm & Fired Up DVD. A good 10 minute ab workout.
Then we walked over to Southern Kitchen for breakfast. I got a yummy steak fajita omelet (egg whites only) with hash browns (not too greasy) and an English muffin. I only ate half so the rest will be lunch tomorrow.

Later we headed out to play Laser Tag. Not my thing for sure. I just can't get into shooting people even if it is fake.
When I got home, I notice an email in my inbox from Sparkpeople with the title: You Are A Motivational Member. emoticon
For this, I just have to say emoticon to everybody who voted for me. I am truly touched.

I used to play laser tag a lot but then the place I went to I guess upgraded their laser tag and it was completely different and I just couldnt get into it, hope you at least had a good time hanging out with the people you went to go play laser tag with!

I Can't Think of a Title

My allergies really started acting up on Thursday (and are still being a bother). I woke up with a sore throat on Friday...I hate that. My brain must have known it would happen because I forgot to set the alarm on Thursday night so I slept in until 3:30 on Friday. Needless to say, I did my workout in the afternoon.
I started CLX Lean Phase.
Lean Circuit 1
Single-Calf Raise, Bicep Curl - W 10 R 12 (will try 12.5 pounds next time)
Tricep Push-Ups - R 10 toes (side of chest felt sore so I didn't want to push it)
Split Lunge with Biceps - W 10 R 12 (will try 12.5 pounds next time)
Stationary Runner's Lunge, Double Triceps - W 10 R 12 (will try 12.5 pounds next time)
Bicep Curl with Hamstring Curl (right and left) - W 12.5 R 6 (then 4 reps w/10 pounds--use
10 pounds next time)
Plank with Single-Tricep Extension - W 10 R 10
Reverse Lung, Double-Arm Bicep Curl - W 10 R 12 barely
Supine Tricep - W 15 R 10
Sumo Squat Calf Raise with Bicep Curl - W 10 R 10
Boy, am I sore today.
This morning I did CLX Recharge (sort of yoga). It good to get some stretching in. I'm surprised I could do the downward dogs with my arms being as sore as they are.
Just a relaxed day today. Laundry and groceries. We walked over to Chavez for lunch today so I got in 2 miles.
Tomorrow there is another magic mile scheduled. I shall see if I can beat my 9:56.

    The allergies are killer this year. I can sympathize with you...I finally gave in this morning and took Allegra-D. Hope you're feeling better now!!

Tired Thursday

Yesterday I decided to take it easy and I just did some dancing. I had planned to walk with Leslie after I got back from the Chiropractor and actually started the 2 mile walk. About 10 minutes in, my husband came home so no more walking for me...time to make dinner. That's okay.
I definitely didn't get to bed early enough to be getting up at 2:30 this morning but I did get up anyway. I was a little slower than usual getting on the treadmill, though. Just before I started I heard a car screeching to a halt and a smash. I don't know where this accident happened but it was pretty close to home. I got in 3.2 miles...pretty good considering how tired I was. When I finished I noticed my husband was awake and making tea. The accident woke him up emoticon
My boss is back from his vacation today but he has a clinic at another VA hospital so he's not around. He did call me at 6:30 to ask me to bring his stethoscope and notebook to the front of the hospital so he could pick them up on his way. Yes, it's a good thing I come in to work so early :-)
I'm definitely going to do my best to head to bed early tonight. I need some sleep. My husband is going out for dinner with the model club guys so I can eat as early as I want.

    I still can't fathom getting up to exercise at 2:30 am, though I was awake much of last night. I'm glad you pulled a rest day! You will get back to it, I have no doubt.
My daughter, sister and I went for pedicures yesterday -- my second ever. The foot massage was soooo worth it!!!!!

Just Tuesday

For a change, I was able to get up this morning and do my run. 3.2 miles down.
My butt and hamstrings are really sore. Probably a combination of the run on Sunday along with Push yesterday. I'm thinking I'll do the elliptical tomorrow and hold off on Lean until Friday.
Work was okay. A little dancing, lots of walking up and down the stairs. The HPLC was leaking so I had to tighten things up. I'll see tomorrow if it decided to leak some more.
I made some hazelnut muffins for my husband to take for breakfast when I got home.

We had some lox and bagels for dinner tonight. It was nice to have something that didn't need any prep.

I haven't run in the mornings all summer long . . . I just have been waking up tired, don't know why (most days, anyway). Oddly enough, I wish i'd put out running clothes for this morning - despite being really tired, I know how good it would feel to run the stress off.

I'll get it in today, tho.

I'm sure your long run caused the soreness. They say ice baths are good for that - not sure I could bring myself to do it, tho!

CLX Push Phase Done!!

Normally I would say that I got up and did CLX but I was tired so I slept in.
The first day back at work was weird as it always is. I ended up using our other HPLC to run my samples. It was easier than taking apart the new fluorescence detector to get the lamp out and put it in the old one. I'll just order a new lamp but in the mean time at least my samples are running and I'll have data to look at tomorrow.
I did CLX when I got home. No weights over 20 pounds as promised.
Push Circuit 3
Sumo Squat - W 20 R 8
Single-Arm Row - W 20 R 8
Chest Fly - W 10 R 8
Bowler Lunge - W 20 R 8
Double-Arm Bent-Over Row - W 17.5 R 8
Bench Press - W 12.5 R 8
Single-Leg Sumo Squat - W 17.5 R 8
Reverse-Grip Bent-Over Row - W 17.5 R 8
Long-Arm Pullover - W 15 R 8
Now it's on to Lean phase. I'm deciding whether to start on Wednesday or Friday. On the calendar it has scheduled a cardio workout after Push 3 (that would be my run tomorrow) then a rest day then another cardio workout (run on Thursday) then another rest day. I don't want to start on Saturday because I like a rest (yoga) day before my long run. Hmmm. I guess I'll decide on Wednesday.
For dinner tonight I made chicken chili in the slow cooker (2 cans of beans, 1 lb chicken breast, 2 cans fire roasted tomatoes, 1 onion chopped, 1 bell pepper chopped, cumin, coriander, cayenne, garlic to taste). I also made some corn muffins using a Spark recipe:

A very tasty and satisfying dinner.

    I think I am going to have to invest in a slow cooker. Your dinners always look so yummy and inviting. I have also been thinking about a blender for yogurt/fruit smoothies. I get so lazy at night after a long day of work and gym.
