It's Starting to be Summertime Here.

Yesterday I got in some CLX Recharge (yoga) and some foam roller for my calves and shins. We went to lunch with my brother at Clarke's. They specialize in charbroiled hamburgers. I got a turkey burger but only ended up eating half. We split some fried zucchini and sweet potato fries...yum! Then we walked around downtown Mountain View for a in a couple of miles. Then we headed over to Sears because I needed a new watch battery and I can't take the back off the watch...needs a special tool. It turns out that Sears is going out of business but we gave it a try anyway...SCORE. The watch repair was still there and now my watch is working again :-) I also picked up a bathing suit at 60% off.

Since it was going to get into the 90's today we made sure to get ready early. Today was the day for our "long run." In quotes because it was only 2.5 miles. This time I mapped it out on Spark fitness maps and used RunKeeper and the Polar GPS (in the proper orientation). The map said 3 miles (I wanted warm up and cool down in there, too). RunKeeper came in at 3.1 and the Polar gave me 3.17 miles. I think the Polar just needed to be in the correct's definitely close enough. This time we went right instead of left and ran by the golf course instead of the homeless encampment. We couldn't have gone too much farther than we did because it was only 1.71 miles (by SparkMap) from where we started until the trail ends in that direction. I tried out my Nike LunarEclipse+. They felt very good. My knees were a little sore starting out but they had been this morning anyway. It went away and has pretty much stayed away all day....damn arthritis.
My husband wanted Indian Buffet for lunch...yikes!!!

Tandoori chicken, channa masala, palak paneer, cucumber slices, mixed vegetable curry with basamati rice. No naan for me.
A very light dinner is planned for tonight ;-)

    That is a really cute bathing suit! I'm glad you mentioned the watch battery because I need to go get my Polar battery changed. It's super hot and humid here. I haven't checked what's on my workout routine for today but I sure hope it's something I can do inside. Or maybe I can use the pool ;)

    That is a cute suit. Good job foregoing the naan, that's a hard one for me.
I'm really glad to hear that you don't have too much pain after you run even long distances. I got calf cramps again during my run yesterday, maybe I need to try better shoes, and then keep running to see if it helps clear up some of the arthritis. My toes seem to be ok, but my ankles are a mess. Damn arthritis indeed!

    That suit will suck you in in ALL the right places. Those shorter runs are important! Good job on figuring it all out. I should've done some stretching & foam rolling yesterday too, but other than walking the dogs & normal chores I was a total slug.

    Yep it is definitely summer here in Sac too. My temp in the car last night (9:45 PM read 89), so yeah summer has arrived. Glad the shoes felt good during your run, sorry about the knees. I hope they feel better all week. (Sending arthritis free vibes). Have a great day!

Today I was good and got my workout in the morning. It's a good thing because it got fairly warm here this afternoon (over 90).
Push Circuit 3
Sumo Squat - W 25 R 8 (will try 27.5 pounds next time)
Single-Arm Row - W 22.5 R 6
Chest Fly - W 12.5 R 7
Bowler Lunge - W 22.5 R 8 (will try 25 pounds next month)
Double-Arm Bent-Over Row - W 20 R 8 (will try 22.5 pounds next time)
Bench Press - W 15 R 7
Single-Leg Sumo Squat - W 20 R 8 (will try 22.5 pounds next time)
Reverse-Grip Bent-Over Row - W 20 R 8 (will try 22.5 pounds next time)
Long-Arm Pullover - W 15 R 8 (will try 17.5 pounds next time)
Of course there was more spreadsheet stuff to do at work today. It seems like that's all I've been doing recently. I do have get up and walk around and look at something else every once in a while, though.
I'm definitely glad the weekend has started. I am tired. I am looking forward to sleeping in until 5 or 5:30 tomorrow. Maybe do some yoga.

    yay for long weekends. speaking of yoga, i started the YRG today. about time. it is a pretty good workout. nice pace, flowing, easy to follow. not really hard stuff, but i still have room for improvement so it will be good for a few weeks anyway. then there is a fat burner cd that goes with it. havent looked at it yet, figured i would save it for when i get bored with this one.

YAY!! The Inspection is Over!

I woke feeling a little dizzy thanks to my allergies (thanks to the weird coldish rainy weather we had) so I went back to sleep for a little while instead of getting my run in.
Busy day at work doing more spreadsheets and trying to track down work orders to get stuff done in the lab. Thankfully, I didn't get interviewed by any inspectors. I did go up to the 4th floor lab and saw people with clipboards walking around so I went back downstairs emoticon
Today my shins felt kind of stiff but I think it is just arthritis because it doesn't really feel muscular. I had gotten a pair of Nike LunarEclipse+ to try out. They are supposed to give stability only when you need it. I had tried them a little on Tuesdays run but none of my shoes were making me feel that great so I tried again today. I did my main running portion in the shoe that felt best on Tuesday, my neutral Nike Air Pegasus. My right shin felt kind of stiff but it had been all day. Otherwise, I felt good. Afterward, I did 2x 2.5 min run/1 min walk in the LunarEclipse+. They felt great and my shin didn't feel stiff either. Then I did the same 2x 2.5 min run/1 min walk in the Asics Gel Kayano's. My right shin muscle started to feel sore at the end of the second run. I ended up going a total of 4 miles. I think I still have some working out with these shoes but I am going to try my long run on Sunday, which is scheduled to be 2.5 miles, in the LunarEclipse and see how they feel outside. I hope one day I will find my "shoe" but for now, I will switch these around and see which work out best.

Nike Air Pegasus shoes have climbed more podiums than any other shoe. I have bought a bunch Nike Pegasus shoes because I need a neutral cushioned shoe. I just switched to Nike Zoom Vomero shoes that I just love. I used to run on New Balance 405 shoes. Then New Balanced changed the 405s into cheap knock-around sneakers that suck for serious running.

I hope you find your shoe. The good news about Nike is that they don't willy-nilly change a good shoe into a sucky shoe. Nike also sticks with the same shoes year after year.

it is nice to have different shoes to switch out. i love having mine. want to add the reebok realflex's. either that or some bontrager multi-sports would be great for the bike. but i have to save up a few bucks first.

Standing Reverse Fly - W 10 R 8 (barely)
Standing Arnold Press - W 12.5 R 6
Single-Leg Dead Lifts - W 15 R 8 (will try 17.5 pounds next time)
Bent-Over Lat Raise - W 12.5 R 6
Frontal Shoulder Press - W 10 R 8 (barely)
Single-Leg Tap Lunges - W 17.5 R 8 (will try 20 pounds next time)
Lateral Delt Raise - W 12.5 R 3 then changed to 10's for last 5 (will use 10 pounds next time)
My butt is sore now so those dead lifts really do the trick. emoticon
Another busy day at work full of spreadsheets but not full of inspectors so it's all good. emoticon
I had a chiropractor appointment this afternoon. That seems to be going well.
Dinner was whole wheat angel hair pasta with turkey meatballs and some leftover beef and broccoli sans the beef that my husband brought home from work. They had lunch brought in and all the guys went after the beef and left the broccoli. That's fine by me. It was tasty. Sorry, no picture.
I should head to bed as soon as my laundry is dry. Gotta get my run on in the morning.

    cool on the butt being sore! It's a good sore! some of the PT exercises I am doing is using the muscle over my rib cage and that is sore along the sides the next day.

Sore means it's burnin'

    My day was pretty ordinary yesterday too. I went for a walk for about 4 miles last night, but no running or cycling. I opted for the extra hour's sleep yesterday morning. Today I am off but have to clean house, do groceries and get ready for our camping trip. We leave first thing tomorrow morning and won't get back until Monday afternoon. I will be Spark free for a few days. Take care.

I thought some alliteration would be nice.
For some reason it's been really hard to wake up on Tuesday mornings to get in my workout lately. I slept in again.
Busy day at work. Tracking down information on liquid nitrogen and nitrogen gas and the fittings that we need for the mass spec when it arrives mid-July. I was also working on an enormous excel spreadsheet. No inspectors today emoticon
It was pouring rain when I left work. I did hear that it was supposed to rain but wasn't expecting quite the downpour. I was pretty much soaked by the time I walked from the hospital to my car. emoticon
I did get a run in this afternoon when I got home (3.125 miles) from work so all is good. emoticon
Tonight's dinner was salmon burgers and asparagus. Yum!

Gonna hit the hay. I do have to workout tomorrow morning.

    We had rain and the brightest sunshine ever when I left work yesterday. Some nice storms last night too. So happy that for once the power didn't got out emoticon Salmon and asparagus is one of my favorite combinations. I created a tuna tortellini casserole last night:)

I slept in yesterday too, and then ate a molasses chocolate chip cookie, which made me think of you. Sleep + cookie = must go run! The wind is kind of crazy but at least it's not raining. Is it hot there?

I didn't work out again but I did see 2 apts. One was ok the other was not so taken care of. They were both top floor apts. 3rd and 4th and get very hot in the summer, plus no elevator. The engagement party was ok, I felt kind of over dressed... oh well...
