I definitely could not get up to work out this morning after the fun time I had with my friend last night. The gluten free pizza was terrific.
I started getting the lab rearranged for when the mass spec arrives.
When I got home, I did my workout.

Sumo Squat with Overhead Press ~ W-7.5 R-12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Lunge with Calf Raise ~W-17.5 R-12 (I'll try 20 next time)
Squat with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-12 (I'll try 12.5 next time)
Lunge with Frontal Press ~ W-10 R-12
Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12 (I'll try 20 next time)
Sumo Squat with Delt Raises ~ W-10 R-12 (I'll try 12.5 next time)
Squat with Double Overhead Press ~ W-7.5 R-12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Lunge with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-12 (6 on each leg) (I'll try 12.5 next time)
Sumo Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12 (I'll try 20 next time)
After this, I hopped on the elliptical for 3 miles worth. I felt I needed some extra cardio after the pizza last night.
My husband and I went out for Chinese for dinner tonight.

All very tasty. We would definitely go back. Some people at another table got what I assume were egg rolls in a mini shopping cart...weird. I didn't want to take a picture of another table's food. We'll order them next time and I'll get a shot then.

    I love chinese food! i had pf changs a few days ago. i think i could eat chinese every day. now egg rolls in a shopping cart, hmmm, that is curious. i would have had to ask about that.

We did book a room for Las Vegas. My husband won. We're going to stay at Circus Circus. It's pretty inexpensive and only about 3.5 miles away from the start/finish line. Hopefully there will be a shuttle running or maybe we won't need one. Hard to say.
I got my W5D2 run of the Galloway 5K training in this morning. It was good once I got going. A little tired this morning so the first running interval was hard. Afterward I went down and did Ab Burner from CLX. I'm going to try to do it after all my runs that way I'll get abs 3x/week.
Got some samples prepped and running at work so there is lots of walking up and down the stairs today. Maybe a little dancing, too ;-)
I'm going to get my haircut today. Not quite sure if it will be different from the last time or not. The longer side keeps getting in my eyes and that is bugging me. Especially when I'm in the lab doing stuff. I have to stop what I'm doing and take my gloves off and wash my hands before I can push the hair out of the way and it's not long enough to pull back. I may have to go shorter.
Then I'm meeting my best girlfriend for dinner at BJ's Brewhouse. I was sort of craving some pizza and she is gluten-free. They make gluten-free pizza there and she says it's good. Besides we've never been there together. It should make for a fun time.
Have a great Thursday....we're nearly to Friday!!

EDIT: I just found out my stylist called in sick today. No haircut until Saturday.

    You know, that IS what they make hairpins and clips for... when my bangs get too long and I haven't made it to the salon yet (like right now), I pin them up for my workouts. Looks a bit goofy but works.

    I hope you have a great time with your BFF. There are not nearly enough gluten free options where I am; we have a pizza place called your pie, and they make gluten free dough, but my friend still cannot eat pizza there because they often fail to keep the gluten free dough from coming into contact with the regular dough :( I hope you are enjoying your new hair cut. Are you going to post a picture? emoticon

Have fun with BFF BJ's brewery is good, good food but a little pricey, don't know if it will be this way in your town. Here in Texas it is, 4 of us can eat Mexican food for the same price 2 of us can eat at BJs. Let us know how it goes and how the pizza tastes. I was craving pizza last night! emoticon Though, I just had DiGornio's rising crust cheese pizza. Hubby had most of it!

    I'm getting my hair done today. I've had to clip one part back because it's been too distracting. Hope you enjoyed the night out. Pizza Fusion made gluten free, but the one in Orlando closed. Been to one in Tampa. Nothing here locally.
The race stuff sounds like an exciting adventure. I've looked up the races for running at Disney World. I'm living vicariously through your posts for now.

    Enjoy getting getting your haircut and your night out with BFF. So happy to hear that your running is going well (and a little jealous ;-) ). I tried to pick up the running, really slowly and little at a time, but my body just doesn't seem to agree with it. Maybe once a week, max twice. Definitely need 2 days rest afterward. Needless to say I live vicariously through you!

    and i was looking forward to seeing what you got done this time. that is a bummer when the hair gets in the face. i always have that. unless i leave it long, but then i have to keep it in a ponytail all the time which i hate. it does nothing for me!

    There's a monorail now . . . I don't recall how far up it goes. The first time we came to Vegas yrs & yrs ago we stayed there for part of the trip. I definitely want something much closer, but I'll probably wait til I get home. Or walk on down there & look around!

Ooh haircut, will we get pictures there? I hate when your hair gets to the level that it's bothering you, then in between look. I find hairbands work for me in those times, but I get frustrated and get it cut.

Weird Going Back to Work Today

I got up this morning feeling great. I went downstairs and did my CLX.

Sumo Squat with Bicep Curl - W 10 R 12 (I'll try 12.5 next time)
Lunge with One-Arm Tricep Extension - - W 7.5 R 12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Dead Lift Row - - W 15 R 12 (I'll try 17.5 next time)
Sumo Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension-- W15 R12 (and I didn't hit myself in the head...bonus)
Dead Lift with Double Row -- W15 R 12
Bowler's Lunge with Single-Arm Row - - W 15 R 11
Bicep Curls with Abductor Balance - - W 10 R 12 (I'll try 12.5 next time)
Forward Lean Lunge with Double Row - - W 15 R 12 (I'll try 17.5 next time)
Triple-Threat Push Ups - 12 (on toes..but barely)
Now that it's been almost 15 hours, I can start to feel it in my butt and hamstrings. Those dead lifts really work.
It was weird going to work today. It had been 5 days. I did my usual start of the week things...checking the eyewashes, backing up the computers, getting water for coffee. I emailed my boss about something and got his auto responder. Apparently he won't be around until next Tuesday. Gee, thanks for telling me. emoticon That's okay.
I'm now down to once a week for the chiropractor and today was my appointment. My back is definitely less sore than it has been after previous visits. I take it to be a good sign.
We tried out Trader Joe's Coq Au Vin for dinner. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture but it really isn't that beautiful. I tasted pretty good, though.
Now it's time to start checking out hotel rooms in Vegas.

Good Luck with the hotel in Vegas so are you staying on the strip or outside of the strip? Where is the marathon actually starting at?

    I'm hoping to get in a muscle workout, but I may defer to mopping the kitchen floor, cleaning a bathroom and getting to work early. I still have sore calves from Tuesday's cardio. Glad to hear your back is getting better.

I made a banana biscotti from a spark recipe but I swapped chocolate chips for the walnuts and sprinkled a little sugar on the cut ends -- wow! I have a new family favorite! I thought of you when I was baking the cookies.

Terrific Tuesday

Well, at least some of the day was terrific. I got up at 11:45 last night so I could be ready to register for the Las Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon. I wasn't sure how quickly it would fill up, so like a crazy person I registered at midnight as soon as registration opened.

Then like the silly person I am, I went back to bed. That may have been a bad idea because I set the alarm for 2:30 to get up to do my run. I felt horrible so I set it to 3:30 so I could get a shower in before work. I still felt crappy. My tummy was very unhappy and I was sort of dizzy. I emailed my boss that I was going to stay home and went back to bed until about 6:30. Still not feeling great but I got up anyway and fed the cats and made a cup of tea. That helped a little bit and I had breakfast at about 7:30. By about 9 I felt much better.
I did my run in my new shoes. They felt great. My knees and back were very happy. I walked a little after to make it 5K. Then I went downstairs and put on CLX Ab Burner. I know I need to work on my abs so I'm going to try to do it twice a week. When it gets easy, I'll move on to Extreme Abs. After my workout my back felt fabulous and has felt great all day. Yay for ab work!!
I baked some chocolate vitamuffins for my husband and did some dancing in the living room.
We had salmon, potato salad and baked beans for dinner. Sorry I forgot to take a picture.
Hmmm....now I have to think about booking a hotel room for Vegas.

    WOW a half marathon. That is awesome. I like going to Vegas but not to race. LOL! Happy the shoes worked out. I think I need a new pair the Step teacher told me I was wearing the wrong kind to class, no wonder why my feet cramp up half way through. I just bought the cute ones. LOL.

It will be an interesting experience to be sure, since my biggest race so for was only several thousand.

    Hey, that made it a 5-day weekend, didn't it? Sorry you felt so crappy this am, but glad the day ended well. WooHoo for being officially registered for the HM! Shoes, back, knees all cooperating. Going to try out my new shoes on the treadmill at the gym tomorrow. I figure that's the only time they'll let me use my running shoes in the gym, so I'll take advantage of it. They have a very strict policy of "no shoes that have ever touched pavement" allowed beyond the desk.

I woke up this morning to the fabulous smell of beans cooking in the slow cooker. I had put them on low at about 8pm yesterday and checked on them at 6am today. Still hard. I turned it to high knowing we'd have another 6 hours before anybody would be eating them. All good.
After feeding the cats and Sparking for a little while, I did my workout. CLX Burn Circuit 1 and Recharge (yoga).

It was nice to do some yoga. It's about 20 minutes but really hits all of the major areas.
I had planned to start on the potato salad after I got out of the shower. My husband offered to slice the potatoes in the food processor while I took my shower. emoticon
After I finished showering and got dressed I heard cursing from the kitchen emoticon
Apparently there was a clog in the sink. My husband went over to Home Depot to get a snake and managed to get it cleared emoticon He also decided to replace one of the seals on the garbage disposal so he wouldn't have to open it all back up again.
While all this was going on, I boiled the potatoes and made the dressing. To my dismay, he had sliced nearly 5 pounds of potatoes. There were only 3 of us partaking in the meal emoticon Needless to say, we've got a lot of leftover potato salad.
Since tomorrow will be model car building night at Andy's, I baked some cookies. Oatmeal with raisins and walnuts.

The cookies were not a Spark recipe. They were from The Better Homes and Gardens Biggest Book of Cookies.
We had turkey burgers and the guys also had chicken sausages but I forgot to get pictures.

    So funny! After 10 pounds of potatoes being peeled by my husband for Christmas mashed potatoes one year, I learned I have to sit out the exact # of potatoes I want peeled or they all go. :) Need to check out that bean recipe, doing beans (and a whole lot more in a couple weeks.) Cookie Marathon is going well, I'll blog later. Hope you are feeling better and had a good run.

    I'm back, whirlwind trip to Dallas to see MIL, she doing good. YAY for your hubby getting clog fixed. OMG about the potatoes. WAY2GO on getting in your workout! Ooohhh those beans look yummmyyy. Funny story I can't cook very well I even messed up beans in the slow cooker one time so I gave up but i love to eat beans! TOOT TOOT! emoticon

    Yummy Goodness Nat! i will have to go check out that tater salad recipe as i have a bag that is going to waste right now. guess i could boil them up and freeze some mashed potatoes, or slice for fries and feeze. gotta do something because i hate wasting food!

Glad you had a GREAT weekend. Hope you enjoyed that ride "WE" did. 11.5 miles lots of little hills this time, but 95 degrees! trust me, we had fun... emoticon
