Sorry, No Food Pictures Today

For some reason I was too tired to workout this morning. I reset the alarm to 3:30 and went back to sleep. Much better.
Semi-busy day at work. Not quite as much walking around as yesterday. Perhaps a little dancing is in order after dinner ;-)
I did finally decide on a workout for today. I did Bob Harper's Super Strength. I had forgotten just how tough it was. Yikes!! I did have to do some of the modifications but I was happy I used 5lb weights throughout. I'm just hoping I won't be too sore to run in the morning.
We're having leftover arroz con pollo for dinner and I didn't think it needed another picture.

Arroz con Pollo and Minty Brownies

Somehow I managed to drag myself out of bed this morning and start week 3 of the Galloway 5K training..I logged 2.54 miles. Not too shabby. Today I wore my other heart rate monitor bra and it gave me readings of over 200. That's not right. I think it's a combination of the bras and the technical shirts that I wear that makes it go buggy. Tomorrow I will use the regular strap and see what happens.
I'm trying to decide if I want to do the elliptical (which doesn't always agree with my back but torches a lot of calories) or to do ST which doesn't burn very many at all. Hmmmmm.
Busy day at work with lots of stair climbing. I've got nearly 15000 steps for today so far.
I came home and baked some whole wheat brownies and for fun added some multicolor mint chips. They are green, pink and yellow. I don't think they'll show up in the picture. They were in the clearance section at the grocery store and they are made by Guittard so I thought I'd give them a try.

My husband has taken them over to his friends house to share with the model car guys.
For dinner I made arroz con pollo. The recipe came from this past weekend's USA Weekend. I used chicken breast instead of thigh, used some chipotle chicken sausage instead of chorizo and used brown rice instead of white rice. It was very tasty but it took a really long time to cook because of the rice choice.

I guess I should head to bed soon if I'm going to do a workout in the morning. Maybe I'll figure out what I want to do in my sleep.

    I didn't look at any previous comments because I haven't had a chance to watch Biggest Loser yet (which is also why I don't log into facebook until I've caught up - I HATE when I find out what happens before I get to watch!) and don't want to see any spoilers, but wanted to say your Arroz con Pollo looks fabulous! I may add that into my new things to try :)

I haven't been wearing my HRM lately (the Polar is dead and the Garmin is too big), but I used to always have readings between 190 - 200, especially during speed work. Or it could be because I still haven't quit smoking ;)

    Strength training does not burn as many calories when you actually DO it... but it is building more muscle with burns more calories just being there...changes your BMR.

    WOW 15000 steps...impressive!!! Brownies look delish. I recorded Biggest Loser & will probably watch it later. I think 2 hours is way too long for that show and prefer to record it so I can fast-forward through all the "fluff"...I usually watch the 2 hour episode in less than an hour :)

    It's a good thing I really don't like mint. One of the few things I just don't like. But I'll eat it from time to time. The chicken dish sounds good. I haven't made arroz con pollo in a dog's age.

Last night I helped DH at work by unpacking, washing and replacing everything in a huge kitchen after washing the construction dust off the inside of the cupboards. I know a man did this since a woman would have made sure all the kitchen stuff was going to stay clean while the kitchen was being renovated. I am sore and tired today and I broke a nail, too, but the treadmill calls. I am going to try running outside some more this weekend. It's raining (again!) so inside it is.

Good thing I have cramps from TOM & not really hungry, plus a chickpea granola bar waiting for breakfast . . . which reminds me that I need to take that out of the fridge to warm up . . . and your HRM might not say ST burns much calories, but it really does! I need to do some myself - hopefully I'll find some energy later today.

Funny about Biggest Loser, I don't watch the show, but Bob Harper has a new commercial deal with Quaker Oats, so when we were watching the latest Archer online last night, we got to see it about a hundred times in a row! emoticon And yet, this morning we're having... cottage cheese!!

Wow, It's Monday ....Can't It Just Be Friday?

The weekend went by way to fast. I definitely did not want to get up this morning, but I did. I let Jackie work me out with 5 pounds weights today. Oddly, I burned fewer calories than I did Saturday morning with the 3 pounders...Hmmm. Maybe it was the Polar heart rate bra I was using. It must not do such a great job of conducting.
Lots of walking around at work today which is nice and I did some dancing in my office. Always good to burn some calories especially when you have succumbed to the evil peanut M&M's like I did. There is something about the Monday of PMS week that really makes me cave. Oh well, I burned of some of them anyway.
I had an adjustment today at the chiropractor. I'm not as sore as I have been in the past so I guess I'm sort of getting used to it. My back and butt are doing a lot better since going so I'm glad I finally just did it.
Tonights dinner: salmon tacos with refried beans

This time I poached the salmon in the oven. It came out great. Just add a little white wine and whatever seasoning you'd like. Wrap in foil and bake at 425 for 15-25 minutes.
Super tired tonight. It's always hard on Mondays if I get up at 2:30. The day is so long and I'm not used to it.

Dinner looks yummy, well, the salmon part, not a big fan of beans.
Make sure you wet the electrodes well before putting them on. That makes the contact more sensitive.

My first HRM was a Polar watch, but I stopped wearing it because of the tedious chest strap. I think you're right about the assumption that the bra might be picking up signals differently. No matter how hard they try to make it look like exact science, in the end it's not. emoticon

    wish i had pms to blame stuff on! haha. today i am blaming on the cold weather. it is a damp cold, so that makes it seem colder than it is i think. i dont think it ever got over 60.
I am so glad that the Chiroprator is working out for you. that is GREAT! my parents started going to one a few years ago which really surprised me because they used to call them quacks back when i was a kid.

Sunday Lunch at the Indian Buffet and Some Banana Bread

I had planned on taking my new Polar RS300X heart rate monitor with the foot pod and the GPS to the local community college track today to calibrate everything but it was pouring rain this morning. Instead I finished my second week of the Galloway 5K training on the treadmill. I'm really liking the intervals. I've been doing 2.5 minute run and 1 minute walk and it seems to be working well so far.
As stated in the title, I did have Indian buffet for lunch. My husband and I went over to my brother's place and we all went together. I know you all want to see a picture so here it is:

I did not eat the dosa on the bottom of the plate in it's entirety. I ended up taking the potatoes out and mixing them in with the spinach. I did have a piece of naan (not pictured). I also did go back for a second plate of more veggie curry and a little more channa masala. Gotta love the garbanjo (that's how it's spelled on their card ;-) beans.
After lunch, we decided we needed to walk around a little and headed over to Fry's Electronics. Always fun to see the new gadgets and DVDs/Blu-rays. I looked to see if they had a Hello Kitty case for my new phone, but they did not. I know it's kind of dorky but I do have a soft spot for her.
In honor of National Chocolate Chip Day, I baked some Heavenly Healthy Banana Bread with chocolate chips. I actually made it slightly lower calorie/sugar by adding Splenda instead of honey and using sugar free chocolate chips. My husband is trying to cut down on the sugar.

I did have a small piece and it was really good. Not too sweet.
It's almost Monday. Oh well. I need to decide if I'm working out with Jackie or Jillian in the morning. Hmmmmm.

    i had a spoon of peanut butter dipped in chocolate chips. the banana bread looks great though. i have a weakness for banana bread. the indian food looked really great. i haven't had any indian food in a long time. maybe when my Mom comes down this week i can talk her in to making something. better forewarn her so that she can bring ingredients with her!

i recently purchased the YRG cds. yoga for regular guys. i will try that out this week.

    Mmmh, banana bread is one of my favorites! I had almost a whole large can of pumpkin puree left in the fridge, so I baked more muffins last night, trying some of the suggestions I had made for myself. This time, they came out a touch sweeter and much moister, yum! We also tried a new recipe for black bean chili that has orange juice and peel and chiles in adobo sauce in it - THAT was delish!!

Am I correct in assuming the tasty red stuff is tandoori something? Boy, I can just smell that plate of food... off to breakfast now!

Saturday Fun

I didn't feel sore at all this morning so I thought I should do something about it and let Jackie work me out again. This time it felt a little easier. I probably could go to the 5 pound weights. That's good.
I upgraded from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4 so I went to the Apple store to pick it up. In the mall there is a P.F. Chang's so we thought we'd give it a try. We had heard mixed things about it. We ordered mu shu pork, Singapore street noodles, spicy green beans and Shanghai shrimp with garlic sauce (my husband ate all of it, I am not a shrimp fan). It was pretty good. I'd go back.
As we walked back to the car, I thought to myself "I should put my Apple store bag under the seat so nobody will see it when we park at the grocery store." Then I realized I wasn't carrying my bag. Back to P.F. Chang's. Luckily the waiter had put it in the office. No, my phone wasn't in the bag. It just had the box. The phone was in my purse but I still wanted the box.
After walking back to the car again, we set off for Whole Foods. They were giving out lots of samples. It was after 1pm. Hmmm. We didn't try anything. Got what we needed and came home.
I did a little swiffer vac and danced around the living room for a while. Caught up on my Sparking. Then we decided to have a little dinner. Off to Chavez. I got some chile verde. Pretty darn good.
A tasty day.
Tired....gonna head to bed soon.

    Good thing you took the phone out! I was a little afraid reading that until I finished. Lunch sounded good. I don't eat the samples in the stores. I saw a food server at Costco go to the bathroom and only rinse her hands with water after she used the bathroom, gross. So that did it for me, no more samples for me.

    I've been to PF Changs a few times, not overly impressed. Then when I got on SP and saw how many calories their food was...glad I'm not!

    Super jealous of your iPhone 4! We've only been to PF Changs once and I wasn't all that impressed (though I can't remember why). My stomach dropped when you said you didn't have the bag - Wow! Good thing the phone was in your purse, and the waiter saved the bag for you!

    I am glad you found the bag. I have a iPhone 4 as well, and just love it. My best friend and my son have the 3s and they have phone envy. Glad your lunch was good. We went to a market yesterday with tons of samples and wonderful food, I probably had whole slice of banana bread and the like in tastes, but bought an incredible spinach salad for lunch so it all balanced out in the end.

    I like PF CHang's. Haven't been there in a while. Pei Wei (fast-food PF Changs) is also pretty good. Congrats on the new iPhone. I was upgraded over the holidays as a gift. I love it. Have a great Sunday!

    PF Chang's is tasty, but can be a real nutritional bomb! We had Chinese for dinner last night - delivery. Pizza the night before (leftovers). Good thing I don't WI til Thursday.

Simba seems back to normal now, but I'm still dragging them both to the new holistic vet Friday - never fun!

    Whew! Good thing you had your phone in your purse. Your meal sounded really good, never tried a P.F. Chang. Don't you just love it when you get a mini workout dancing around cleaning house, woo hoo!!! Sounds like your back is feeling better- I'm glad to hear.

    sweet! The iphone4 is so awesome! :) I have a g.c. for PF chang's but the hubby and I have never tried that place before. I'm glad you said it was good. I guess we gotta go try it!
