Yes, I got up and started week 5 of C25K. I felt fabulous during and after the run. However, later my back started being sore and it has been on and off all day. More like a stinging feeling. Not a lot but it's irritating. I can't figure out what is causing it. Sometimes it happens when I'm just sitting, sometimes when I get up. It's inconsistent. Maybe I restarted the ChaLEAN or the running too soon? I emailed my doctor and told her the whole story. Hopefully I'll hear back from her tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm making it worse or not. I don't know if I'll do ChaLEAN tomorrow or not. I think I will wait until the afternoon to see if I hear back from my doctor.
Work was super busy. That's good because it kept me from snacking on M&M's.
I had a turkey burger for dinner and my husband had a turkey burger and a salmon burger. It was a clean out the freezer of burgers night tonight.
Not a bad day.
I'm hoping my back is happy tomorrow. I really just want to workout. Especially since I just posted my before pictures. I don't want to have to wait another month and do it again.
Sorry for a downer blog.

    Sorry you are getting frustrated with not being able to work out like you want too. I completely understand. I know that a lot of my problems stem from the fact that I forget that I am 47 years old and while I can do anything, I have to get there more slowly than I used to. Yesterday morning I actually slept another 45 minutes instead of running. I was so tired from up often in the night with hot flashes. That, after I spent all day steam cleaning, moving furniture around, etc. This morning I am raring to get my strength training in and I will go for a long walk at lunch. We're having burgers tonight! Great minds think alike.

CLX Redo Day 1 Including Starting Pictures & Measurements, Also Some Muffins

The back felt a tiny bit sore this morning but it felt like it was just from having been worked out.
I took my measurements and starting photos:
Bust: 31.25
Waist: 25
Hips: 34.5
Abductors: 36.75
Thigh: R= 20, L= 20
Upper Arm: R=11, L=11

You can tell these are new pictures because my hair is not as messy.
I did 40 minutes on the elliptical to warm up and then did the first ChaLEAN Extreme Workout (CLX from now on).
Burn Circuit 1

Sumo Squat with Hip Lift - W 7.5 R 12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Lunge with Posterior Fly - - W 5 R 12 (I'll try 7.5 next time)
Push Up with Leg Lift - 12 (on toes)
Dead Lift with Posterior Fly - - W 5 R 12 (I'll try 7.5 next time)
Lunge with Core Rotation - - W 7.5 R 12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Bench Press and Leg Lower - - W 7.5 R 12 (I did not do the leg lower)
Squat with Side Bend - - W 7.5 R 12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Forward Lean Lunge with DBL Arm Posterior Fly - - W 5 R 12 (6 each leg I'll try 7.5 next time)
Chest Fly with Hip Lift - - W 5 R 12 (I'll try 7.5 next time)
As you can see, I kept the weights light to make sure my back was okay with it. I will increase weights on Tuesday if I'm still feeling good tomorrow. So far, I'm feeling good.
After I got out of the shower, I was ravenous and had an Ezekial English muffin with some light string cheese and crushed red pepper...sort of like pizza. It hit the spot.
Then I baked some chocolate Vitamuffins and for fun added some unsweetened coconut. My husband will enjoy the mounds-like muffins for breakfast this week.

After the muffins came out of the oven, we headed over to the home and garden show going on at the nearby fairgrounds.
While we were there, I got an EMS (Electronic Muscle Stimulation) treatment on my lower back from one of the vendors. I figured why not, it's not going to hurt anything and maybe it will help. No, I did not buy the unit for $300 but I did take a pamphlet.
We didn't buy anything, but on the way out we saw the Monster Bus:

I don't know how much the rides were but we didn't take one.
We stopped at Jack in the Box and I got a chicken fajita pita.
We'll be taking DH's grandma out for dinner tonight. We'll have to see how she feels and what she wants.

    Muffins look good. Man, my three year old would freak out if he saw that bus. He LUUUUUVVVVS school buses. I would not get away until he got a ride on that thing, lol.

Great job on the workout. I think it was good you took the weights light since you were having issues with your back. No need to aggravate the problem.

Where did you get your 12 lb weights? I have been looking around and every store has only 10 and 15 pounders.

Saturday at the Indian Buffet

I woke up this morning and my back felt great!! I Sparked a little. I started to watch one of the replacement TurboFire discs and have breakfast. I had set my coffee cup on the coffee table and on my way to the toaster, I tripped on one of my 3lb hand weights. Damn...I hope it doesn't mess up my back went right through my mind. I ate breakfast and started some laundry. Danced along to some of the TurboFire....not really following it, don't worry. I did do some of the kicks but not high. I did make sure to ice my back just in case. This evening my lower back is a little sore and I'm not sure if it was from the tripping or the kicking. I guess I'll see how it feels tomorrow. I will be super pissed if it is injured again. My own fault, too.
Lunch with my brother was nice. I was good. I kept it to one plate and did not get any of the fried goodies.

We ended up walking around Big Lots! after lunch because it's in the same strip mall. I bought some spices and some cereal while we were there. Then we came home.
I did another load of laundry while my husband took his car to get a smog check. Then it was grocery shopping time. Just to Safeway today. I needed some straws to use in my water bottle. It has a wide mouth so I need a straw to drink from it while I'm exercising. Safeway sells The Good Cook brand which are long enough for my water bottle. The other brands are much shorter. Yes, we picked up other stuff as well.
Put the groceries away and started to watch another TurboFire disc. Then it was time for dinner. We went to Panda Express and I got my usual: mixed veggies, broccoli beef and string bean chicken. Pretty healthy except for the sodium.

I think I might go ice my back a little more and watch the rest of the TurboFire. No, I won't be participating this evening.

Friday Carnitas

Crazy Natalie did get up at 2:30 and finished C25K week 4 . I even added some extra minutes (30 seconds to the 3 minute runs, 1 minute to the first 5 minute run and then figured why not just run through the cool down). emoticon
My boss was back and little jet lagged so that made for an interesting day. Lots of explaining and re-explaining. I think he just needs to recover over the weekend.
I got my TurboFire replacement discs and only one looked scratched. They didn't look too bad. I watched it today and it was fine. I will probably watch the rest of the just because I'm kind of anal that way.
As the title states, I did have carnitas for dinner. I do really love the Chavez supermarket taqueria. Excellent quality, great prices, right around the corner. Who could ask for more? I should have taken a picture of my plate. I will next time we go.
We're getting together with my brother for lunch tomorrow and he wants Indian buffet. I must be good. Tomorrow is my rest day from exercise. emoticon

    I'm not sure that it's anal to check merchandise after brand new arrived damaged. Once you get slapped you get a little cautious.

Having a regular restaurant can be fun.

    Garden Fresh is a predominant Mexican grocer. Loved going there. They had the high quality and multi variety produce like Dominicks (major expensive IL chain) at 1/3 the cost! Their meat was very inexpensive too. Kinda interesting as you learned the Spanish/English translation as you shopped!

    Oh wow, I can't even imagine having a mexican supermarket that close! Yummy! I found the sriricha sauce but lost the recipe I had that called for it - oops ;)

Oh! I attempted some PB2 cookies today but they didn't come out good at all (not that I didn't eat them anyways) but the recipe I used for them was one I tried last night with regular peanut butter and they came out AMAZING! Super simple too... 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup splenda, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1 egg. Mix all and bake for 12 minutes at 350. When I made them last night I used 1/2 cup reduced fat smuckers peanut butter and 1/2c dark chocolate almond butter. Seriously though, they were AMAZING! You gotta try them! Maybe that's what I'll send ya!

A Random Day Off

Those of you who read yesterday's blog know that I have to use up some vacation time, so today I'm vacating.
I did sleep in until about 5am. My husband ended up getting up then, too. It was weird to be having breakfast together at that time but very nice. I'm glad I got to spend the time with him because he is going out to dinner with people from the shop. Apparently they reached some quota, so Land Rover is taking them out to Alexander's Steakhouse. No significant others are allowed. I don't know when he'll be home.
I did the elliptical for 40 minutes and then did "Quick Trouble Zones", the wrongly named No More Trouble Zones On Demand. Usually the quick version is about 30 minutes but this was the full thing. I knew this because I did it on Tuesday as well. I still used the 3 pounds. I didn't want to push it. My arms were kind of tired today. Probably from the elliptical before. It has the moving handlebars. Whew..those supermans really work my lower back. I can feel it now but not when I was doing them. That's good though, it could use the workout I think.
I had some leftover marinara chicken and pasta for lunch and I'm think I'll just heat an Amy's palak paneer meal for dinner. I guess I'll be having Indian food two nights in a row. Definitely not a bad thing in my book.
I did catch up on last week's CSI. I'm trying to decide if I'll watch a movie or organize my recipes....I have a lot of recipes printed out that need to go into binders. I think I may hold off on that. Sounds too much like work to me.

    I am the same as you: I can't sleep in on my days off! 5am is sleeping in if you normally wake up at 0230 or 0330! LOL! Sounds like a nice day off. I am impressed by how much you cook! That is awesome!

ps- I loved supermans on NMTZ. Hmmm...maybe I will torture myself and do it one time next week since I will be done with TF! :D

    Sounds like a really great day!!! I have recipes & workouts from magazines I have to organize into binders too...and I keep putting it off ;)

    That was good that you were able to have breakfast with hubby today. Lunch sounded good, I have some chicken I need to use maybe I will make something similar, my DH doesn't like marinara sauce, so I could not put any on his. Sounds very tasty. I need to catch up on my CSI Miami, maybe this Sunday it will force me to lay in the bed and maybe I can get up early Monday morning and workout. Enjoy the rest of your day!
