More Running and Yellow Split Pea Dal

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

I had fully intended to get up at 2:30 this morning and do my run. The alarm went off and I sat up in bed and the room spun. Not a good sign. I got out cautiously and reset the alarm for 3:30 and got back into bed. My allergies decided that they were going to mess with my equilibrium this morning. When I got up at 3:30, I felt much better.
Work was okay. Not too busy but I was occupied. I realized that I need to take some vacation time because I have reached the upper limit and can't accrue any more. So, tomorrow will be a vacation day. Why not Friday, you ask? Because my boss will be back from Austria on Friday and will want to get together for a meeting.
Afterwork, I did my C25K W4D2 run. Felt good. I wasn't sure how well it would go because I'm still pretty sore from NMTZ yesterday.
I made some yellow split pea dal with brown rice for dinner. Very tasty.

In case you're wondering, BeachBody has shipped my replacement DVDs. "I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I have reshipped the following Dvds at no cost to you". Well I'd hope there would be no cost to me. It's not my fault they arrived scratched. Anyway, they should be here next week.
Have a great night!!

The dal looks great -- have you posted a spark recipe? I hope you enjoy the vacation day. The form letter is kinda funny, but as long as you get the stuff that you paid for . . . I've gotta move it, move it. I hope the allergies settle down.     Excellent about the DVDs! Would've been highly unusual if they had charged you for the replacement (I like to think that one thing that's better back home is the customer service, haha!).

Your dal looks very tasty! I think that's one reason why I dig Indian food so much, LOVE the lentils!

Glad they did not charge you. It would have been horrible if they did for something that came to you damaged. Dinner looks good. I had a frozen chicken tamale. Not good, but I ate healthy all day. I was beat after my workout. I know that is not an excuse. But I was. Hope the allergies cooperate tomorrow, my have been good and the Claritin is working well for me.

Tuesday- NMTZ and Chef Meg's Slow Cooker Marinara Chicken and Vegetables

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

I was good and used only 3 pounds weights for my first attempt at NMTZ in a while. I did use 5 pounds for the plank rows because the 3 pounds weights are so small that they crush my hands into the floor. The verdict, I could have used 5 pound weights because most of the exercises didn't really seem hard but I wanted to make sure my back would be okay with the workout. It was definitely a little sore a few hours later, but I think that was because of the supermans and deadlifts. I'm actually feeling it in my shoulders now. My legs are pretty sore both from running yesterday, the QFC from yesterday of lateral lunges and today's workout. It feels good to be sore from exercise again.
I finally did my statistics at work!!! YAY!!! Boy am I glad that's over with at least for now. There will always be data that needs to be checked.
I had a dentist appointment this afternoon. Just a cleaning but I still dread going. I actually have a new dentist now. My former one is retiring so he introduced me to his replacement. Also very nice. I think we'll get along fine. The good cavities!! YAY!!!
I tried out Chef Meg's Slow Cooker Marinara Chicken and Vegetables for dinner tonight. Pretty tasty. It needed a little heat, though. We tried both red pepper flakes and Siracha. Not sure which we preferred.
Here's the link if you'd like to try it:

And here's what it looks like in a bowl with whole wheat spaghetti:

Not bad for a Tuesday. Have a great night, all!

I havent even attempted to do NMTZ with 5 pounds eva! lol I have always used 3 pound weights, which I SHOULD try it with 5 pounders because I have done Bob's workouts with the 5 pound weights and his workouts are just as tough!

I am sore too! And same with me, I havent felt this sore in a long time! Its a good feeling, in a way, means we both kicked butt! emoticon

Hope you have a wonderful wednesday! Your tuesday seemed pretty awesome! lol

I shudder just at the thought of the dentist! Where do you find that srirachi (sp?) sauce? I keep reading about it for recipes but don't think I've ever noticed it in the grocery store.
By the way, I don't know what's wrong with me today - I passed up breakfast to eat cookies, then I had a normal lunch, and now I'm back to eating cookies again! That's the one bad thing about being back at this job - someone is ALWAYS baking! And to top it all off - I just ordered a milkshake from Baskin Robbins! It's not even TOM so I have absolutely nothing to blame it on. Oh well, I will try to get in a run tonight if it's not too late when I get home. Otherwise, I'm just tracking and moving on :)

It is good to be sore after a good workout. My legs feel like noodles from Monday's workout. But no complaints. Good start with the lighter weights to see how the back would respond. Don't want to reinjury that. Your spaghetti looks good. I need to find the right brand, the one tried before was not that tasty.

Hey, I Did Some Running Today and Baked Superdoodles

Monday, April 04, 2011

I got up this morning and the back was feeling pretty good so I turned on the treadmill and did C25K W4D1. I did add an extra minute to each of the 5 minute running intervals. When I was done, I walked until I hit 3 miles total. My back felt good. :-) It has continued to feel pretty good the rest of the day. It feels a little crackly sometimes if I sit too long but then moving around it's fine. My knees have been a little sore the past few days. Maybe from the weather.
I finished getting my Excel spreadsheet ready to do my statistics tomorrow. Boy, that thing took 2 whole days. Yikes!!
After work, I came home and baked some Superdoodle cookies. They are snickerdoodles with cinnamon chips in them for extra cinnamon-y goodness :-)

Since this appears to be the day to have salmon for dinner, that's what we had. White King Salmon (much milder than regular), Alexia rosemary and garlic oven fries, and green beans.

I think I prefer the regular salmon because I like the salmon flavor. It was good though.
Have a great night all. I should head to be soon because I've got a date with Jillian in the morning (NMTZ). I'll see how lifting 3 pound weights goes.

Sunny Sunday (Pictures of Muffins Inside)

Sunday, April 03, 2011

I didn't sleep very well last night. Too much regular coffee at Mexico Lindo last night made for too many bathroom trips in the middle of the night. Having to climb out of the top of the bed because I was trapped in the sheets with a cat on one side and a husband on the other certainly didn't help any.
I did do some elliptical (5 miles) this morning because I knew I was going to be eating my huevos con papas leftovers for breakfast. Yummy!!
I baked some low carb peanut butter chocolate chip muffins for my husband.

We decided to go out for Thai food for lunch. Chicken pad kee mao, garlic chicken, mixed veggies and steamed rice. Very tasty. Another reason I'm glad I hit the elliptical this morning ;-)
I finished watching all of the TurboFire regular and advanced workout discs (14 in all). I need to get 5 replaced for sure. I have contacted BeachBody. We shall see what they want me to do. I don't know if they want the bad ones back or not.
It's been a nice day here. A little cool in the shade but it's bright and sunny. Definitely a nice way to end the weekend.
Have a great week all!

A Nice Saturday

Saturday, April 02, 2011

I got up and did a little Sparking and then hit the elliptical for 5 miles...felt fabulous. I even did my QuickFire Challenge jumping jacks today. I didn't feel it in my back at all. It is still a little sore sometimes but I think I'll be ready to try running on Monday.
Had a little oatmeal for breakfast and did some cleaning around the house. Then we went to Whole Foods and got the groceries. We also picked up some lunch stuff in their hot food section which we had not tried. Roasted chicken, sausages and peppers, brown rice and broccoli with garlic. It was all very tasty and fairly healthy. I only had a little taste of the sausage and took the skin off my chicken breast.
Did some laundry and watched quite a few of the TurboFire discs. I'm almost done. So far 6 of them need to be replaced. Yikes!! I'm glad I'm checking them now.
We met up with my niece and her boyfriend for dinner at Mexico Lindo and I brought the cookies along. I had the super tasty but super decadent juevos con least half I brought home, though. Alex was very happy with his cookies.
I guess I'll go and check the last of the discs.
Have a great night and rest of the weekend!

Where did you get your Turbo Fire? I am wondering if it's the same site my husband got mine. I had to preview all the disks too because we only had 30 days and some of them wouldn't play on our older dvd player but they would play on our newer one. It was weird.
