Sore Sunday Morning But the Evening is Feeling Better

I definitely should not have been walking at a 16% incline yesterday. My back was pretty pissed off at me this morning.
Getting in and out of the car while running errands today certainly didn't help matters. We attempted to pick up some frosting sheets for the Cricut today at Michael's Crafts but apparently they no longer stock any Cricut Cake supplies. Big Lots was having a sale on Cricut cartridges so we thought we'd see if they had other supplies. Nope. We finally gave up and had lunch and then went to Trader Joe's. Boy they were crowded. They're always crowded on Sunday afternoon.
This evening we met up with my husband's family and my brother for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was very nice. We went to a Turkish restaurant.

I had the very tasty falafel plate. The service was little slow but the food was excellent. We had a very nice time. Miraculously when we went to leave, I could stand up almost straight. Pretty much the first time since Friday morning. YAY!!!! I guess I should eat at Turkish restaurants more frequently ;-)
Even though the day started out kind of bad, it ended very nicely.

    I'm a little behind in my blog reading, but Happy Anniversary! CONGRATS!!

I don't know where you live, but it's planets away from where I live. You have so many options near you. Me? Well, there's the pub, the pizza joint, or the Chinese restaurant... take your pick! And, Trader Joe's? Yeah, well, we have ONE grocery store in town and while it's gotten better, it's no Trader Joe's.

Mind if live vicariously through you? LOL

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Trader Joe's. Too bad the closest one to me is about 8 hours away. It's on the route we take between our two "homes" - so I always stop and stock up each way. My husband has learned to be sure there's plenty of room in the truck.

Hamentaschen and no ChaLEAN or running for a little while

I didn't get a chance to blog yesterday, so here's the recap.
As I said on Thursday, I did something to my back when I put my 20 pound weights down. It didn't hurt, but I felt something. I did ice but it has turned into some ouchiness. I did not exercise yesterday except for some walking around.
We decided to have lunch in Santa Cruz yesterday at a place we hadn't been to for a while since we hadn't been to Santa Cruz for a while. Zachary's has some really tasty food including their homefries. I enjoyed them very much. I got corned beef hash which was more potatoes than corned beef by a lot. Super greasy though. Felt kind of icky the rest of the day. We did walk around for a little bit but it was pouring rain so we hung out in Borders for a while and then had some coffee at Peet's. Last night was the model club meeting so we went and stopped at Lu for a little dinner first. I had some tofu and veggies over rice. Light and tasty. I really wanted some veggies. After the meeting we went to the Mini Gourmet. I only had coffee.
When I got up this morning the back was feeling pretty go so I decided to walk on the treadmill/incline trainer. I guess I should not have put it at 16% incline because when I finished my back was not happy and has been pretty cranky for the rest of today. No treadmill tomorrow for me. I definitely won't be running until my back is feeling better and there will be no ChaLEAN for at least a week if not two. I haven't decided if I'll just start the ChaLEAN from the beginning or just keep going from where I left off. If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.
We had brunch with my brother at Southern Kitchen today. I got a veggie omelet (spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese) and had half...it was huge. It came with home fries...much less greasy than at Zachary's yesterday. And I was craving some sausage, so I got a side of sausage patties...I had about 3/4 of one. Maybe not the healthiest food choices but some days you just want not so healthy stuff.
I did bake some hamentaschen for Purim. Hamen is the bad guy of the Purim story. These cookies are to represent either his three-cornered hat or his pocket (depending who's telling the story).

I chose the best looking ones to photograph. Some of them sprung open completely so they look like baked versions of the first picture.

    Natalie, I hope your day of rest did you some good....you poor thing! I do not like when I can NOT exercise! I am not happy! Hang in there and take it easy.

I say if you are only taking a week off from CLX, just pick up where you left off.

    Happy Purim! The cookies look fantastic. I am so sorry your back is worse. I guess it depends on how you feel when you get ready to resume ChaLEANX, but I have been out for about 2 weeks I think, and I am planning to start over completely. I have actually lost muscle mass, though, so my situation is probably different. I have had to stop ChaLEAN for a week before (not due to sickness) and I was able to resume without dropping amount of weight lifted, with little difficulty. Be kind to your back and feel better soon emoticon

    sorry to hear you hurt your back some, that is NOT good!

Cookies look really good! Did you brush the dough where it squeezed together with egg yolks? That helps it keep it's stickiness while baking.

    Hey Nats, if you are grounded for two weeks or less, I don't think you should start over...your body wouldn't have lost the level of fitness that you gained in the last 3 weeks from CLX. Keep icing it for week 1 and then hot compresses after that. That is the mistake I made with mine...used the hot before the cold. emoticon

    I hope you feel better soon -- but that means you may have to feel better before your back is ready for the hard stuff! go easy, easy, easy and let it recover!
My family really likes cheery and apricot. I like prune, but didn't find any prune filling when I found the poppy seed. The cherry spreads like mad --- careful! I tend to claim the open ones as my own !!

Is ChaLean meant to be progressive? If it is, probably wouldn't hurt to start over again. If it isn't, I probably wouldn't.

Don't be too hard on yourself, R & R is the best thing you can do. As for starting up again, you are so fit I shouldn't think you'd need to start from scratch. Dialing it back a bit from where you left off might be enough. It all really depends on how you feel though and how long the rest ends up being.

    Oh no, i hope you feel better soon. Regarding CLX, I say start off with lower weights than you last left off, but you might want to just move fwd so you don't get bored. But it's really how you feel.

Model Club? What kind of models? I see some in anime where they paint figurines or stuff like that.

I went to bed a little late last night so I was too tired to get up to do my workout in the morning.
That's okay. I ran around a lot at work and did a little office dancing ;-)
When I got home I did my workout:

Lunge with Calf Raise ~W-20 R-12 (I twisted funny putting the weights down)
Squat with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-11
Lunge with Frontal Press ~ W-10 R-12
Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12
Sumo Squat with Delt Raises ~ W-10 R-12
Squat with Double Overhead Press ~ W-10 R-11
Lunge with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-12 (6 on each leg)
Sumo Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12

Unfortunately now my back is a little sore. Perhaps I shouldn't have used the 20 pounders or maybe I just shouldn't have put them down. It's been iced and ibuprofened. I'm hoping it will be happy in the morning. If not, tomorrow is definitely a rest day.
The good thing is I'm off of work until Tuesday, so I can sleep in as late as I want tomorrow...maybe even 6am.

    I love to hear that you've been dancing in your office! I noticed some back pain when I was using 20 lb weights, too. In my case, I had the pain because I wasn't ready for that much weight yet, and I was subconsciously using my back muscles to "assist" during the lifts. C25K W5D2 & ChaLEAN Extreme Day 18

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

I was my usual self and got up early to get in my C25K run. I ended up adding 1 minute of running to the first interval and 2 minutes to the second. That was nice.
Lots of running around at work today, but that is a good thing.
When got home it was time for some Burn Intervals and Ab Burner. I cannot get through all of the Ab Burner exercises. Wow!! I really need to work on that.
We had pork chops, green beans, lentils and some KFC mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner tonight. Sorry, I forgot to get a picture. It was very tasty, though.
It is our third wedding anniversary today so my husband brought home some flowers (irises one of my favorites). He also brought the mashed potatoes and gravy. It was a nice treat.
As I was arriving at home from work today, the UPS guy was knocking at our door with a gigantic package. It was my present:

I guess there will be some fancy looking cakes and cupcakes now. :-)

For some reason, I could not get out of bed this morning. Odd since it was so easy yesterday.
Kind of a crazy day at work. Some online trainings to do, data to look at, lots of emails.
When I got home, I did my ChaLEAN workout.

Dead Lift Row - - W 17.5 R 12 (I will try 20 next time)
Sumo Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension-- W17.5 R11 (and I didn't hit myself in the head...bonus)

Bowler's Lunge with Single-Arm Row - - W 17.5 R 12 (I will try 20 next time)

We had some salmon burgers with Trader Joe's soycutash for dinner:

I'm getting ready to head to bed pretty soon. My husband is going over to his friend's house with the cookies from last night. I'll get a review tomorrow.

    I love salmon but never had it on a burger. Do you mix it up like beef or just put the piece on the bun? Glad you got your CLX done!

    The meal looks great though I'm not crazy about Salmon. The workout looks intense. I have several mornings when, if it's not hard to get up, it's hard to get into the huff and puff of intensive exercise.

    It was hard for me to wake up this morning because of how gloomy it is outside. I opened my eyes and it still looked dark so I was like no it cant be 7 yet, and went back to sleep lol!
