ChaLEAN Extreme Day 17

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

For some reason, I could not get out of bed this morning. Odd since it was so easy yesterday.
Kind of a crazy day at work. Some online trainings to do, data to look at, lots of emails.
When I got home, I did my ChaLEAN workout.
3/15/11
Burn Circuit 2
Sumo Squat with Bicep Curl - W 12.5 R 10
Lunge with One-Arm Tricep Extension - - W 10 R 11
Dead Lift Row - - W 17.5 R 12 (I will try 20 next time)
Sumo Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension-- W17.5 R11 (and I didn't hit myself in the head...bonus)
Dead Lift with Double Row -- W17.5 R 10
Bowler's Lunge with Single-Arm Row - - W 17.5 R 12 (I will try 20 next time)
Bicep Curls with Abductor Balance - - W 10 R 12
Forward Lean Lunge with Double Row - - W 17.5 R 12 (I will try 20 next time)
Triple-Threat Push Ups - 12 (on toes)

We had some salmon burgers with Trader Joe's soycutash for dinner:

I'm getting ready to head to bed pretty soon. My husband is going over to his friend's house with the cookies from last night. I'll get a review tomorrow.
Have a great night everyone!!

I love salmon but never had it on a burger. Do you mix it up like beef or just put the piece on the bun? Glad you got your CLX done!

The meal looks great though I'm not crazy about Salmon. The workout looks intense. I have several mornings when, if it's not hard to get up, it's hard to get into the huff and puff of intensive exercise.

You've got some grit, or resolve, or something that keeps you on task! emoticon emoticon

C25K W5D1 & ChaLEAN Extreme Day 16

Monday, March 14, 2011

It was a rest day for ChaLEAN, but I started week 5 of C25K. The first interval seemed kind of hard but I was fine after that. May have just been because it was so freaking early. I even added an extra 1.5 minutes at the end of the last interval to make sure I was getting 1.5 miles of running in.
My knees have felt great all day. Weird.
Busy day at work.
When I got home I did 2 loads of laundry. Then I made some roast turkey breast dal (the recipe actually called for roast chicken but we picked up a roasted turkey breast at the grocery store on Saturday so that's what I used.

and low carb coconut cookies ( my husband is trying to cut down on the sugar)

I finally caught up with all of the Spark emails. There was something going on today. I didn't get any after midnight until about noon today.
Have a great night. Hopefully everyone has started easing into the new time.

I'm glad your knee is doing better -- think it might be weather-related? Maybe you could start predicting the weather better than some of the weathermen around here! LOL

As for the time change... I'm not there yet. I had a horrible time falling asleep last night and then, of course, I didn't want to get up this morning! SIGH emoticon Tonight might be the night, though, cuz I'm pretty tired! Maybe I'll get the internal clock re-set now. emoticon

So I guess we're on for Day 2 tomorrow, eh friend? I have to find some healthy muffin recipes with fruit for DH's lunch. He's a carpenter working outside and needs a lot more calories than me during the day. I have some peaches in the freezer that aren't really all that tasty but which would be great in muffins. Maybe tomorrow night will be baking.

What's your dinner tonight? We're having baked haddock, orzo pasta with parmesan and basil and a s**tload of broccoli. Crowns were on sale dirt cheap and I forgot there is only 2 of us eating them. Love the stuff, though.

Have a great day. Talk soon.

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 15 and Sexy Low Fat Vanilla Cupcakes (Vegan)

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Today was day 15 of CLX.
3/13/11
Burn Circuit 1
Sumo Squat with Hip Lift - W 17.5 R 11
Lunge with Posterior Fly - - W 10 R 12
Push Up with Leg Lift - 12 (on toes)
Dead Lift with Posterior Fly - - W 7.5 R 12
Lunge with Core Rotation - - W 20 R 12
Bench Press and Leg Lower - - W 12.5 R 12
Squat with Side Bend - - W 17.5 R 12
Forward Lean Lunge with DBL Arm Posterior Fly - - W 10R 12 (6 each leg)
Chest Fly with Hip Lift - - W 10 R 12
I decided to do some cardio after and hit the elliptical for 4 miles.
I had some cottage cheese and a lentil bolani for breakfast....very tasty.
My brother came over and we went for Mexican food for lunch. He got a chile verde chimichanga, my husband got shrimp fajitas and I got some chile colorado. Everybody enjoyed their meals and my husband will be eating my leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
When we got back, I made some lemon flavored 7 minute frosting for the cupcakes.
Here they are unfrosted (in case you didn't see yesterday's blog):

Here they are frosted:

They were very tasty and super moist. A little more dense than I was expecting but not unpleasantly so. I did not use vanilla soy yogurt because all I could find was plain so I added a little extra vanilla extract. The recipe called for soy milk but I already had unsweetened almond milk and used that instead. Unfrosted, these cupcakes are vegan. Because I used 7 minute frosting they are not because it's made with egg whites.
I also think the oven is off because the centers were sunken. That could also account for the texture. I'll have to find my oven thermometer and check next time I use it.
Not sure what else is planned for today other than I need to cook some lentils for dinner tomorrow.
Have a great night. I hope everyone gets up for work on time!

Chalean Extreme Day 14

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Today was actually a rest day but I was feeling like I needed some cardio so I did the elliptical for 55 minutes. Felt great!!
I was starving afterward and made an egg white, chicken breast and broccoli scramble for breakfast. That really hit the spot.
Later we went grocery shopping but first had lunch at Panda Express. More broccoli. YAY!
We ended up going to both Safeway and Whole Foods because I couldn't find everything I needed at Safeway. That took up way too much of the day.
When we got home, I tried out the Sexy Low Fat Vanilla Cupcakes recipe from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. I promised my friend, CREATINGAMANDA, that I would send her a low fat vegan cupcake recipe when she got to a certain weight. I wanted to test it out first. What if if was yucky. Anyway, this is what they look like without any icing. Kind of sunken in the center but that's okay...there will be icing covering them.

We ended up at an Indian buffet for dinner. I always eat too much at the Indian buffet. Oh well, I'm still in calorie range. Just closer to the top end.
Have a great night. Don't forget to set your clocks back.

C25K W4D3 & ChaLEAN Extreme Day 13

Friday, March 11, 2011

Yes, crazy Natalie got up at 2:30 and finished week 4 of C25K. Boy that felt great.
Work was okay. My coworker enjoyed her cookies :-), I climbed many stairs and did some dancing.
When I got home, it was Burn it off and Recharge. I felt a couple of the jumps in my cranky knee but never for more than one jump. Feels fine now.
I am very glad it's Friday. Maybe it's from getting up early all week. I don't know if I'll be able to swing it next week with the time change. I guess I'll find out.
Trying to decide what to have for dinner. I'm craving some protein. We always go out on Friday's, so it's just a matter of deciding on a place to go. We're having Mexican on Sunday with my brother for lunch, so we will not have Mexican tonight. Hmmm.
My husband should be home soon. Hopefully he knows where he wants to it.
Have a great Friday night and a wonderful weekend!!
