ChaLEAN Extreme Day 12

This morning I did Burn Circuit 3:
Sumo Squat with Overhead Press ~ W-10 R-10
Lunge with Calf Raise ~W-17.5 R-12 (try 20 next time)
Squat with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-10
Lunge with Frontal Press ~ W-10 R-12
Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-15 R-12 (I went lower this time. Felt unstable last time. Go to 17.5 or 20 next time)
Sumo Squat with Delt Raises ~ W-10 R-10
Squat with Double Overhead Press ~ W-10 R-11
Lunge with Lateral Raise ~ W-10 R-12 (6 on each leg)
Sumo Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12 (try 20 next time)
I'm sure my shoulders will be feeling it tomorrow.
Another busy day at work. Not so busy that I couldn't get a little office dancing in, though :-)
I stopped at Target on the way home and tried on a pair of jeans. They didn't fit at all. They were fine in the thigh but way too big in the hips and waist. Oh well. I was able to pick up some organic all purpose flour. That was good because when I got home I baked some chocolate chip cookie bars for a coworker's birthday.

I did some laundry and cleaned the cat box. The dishwasher is ready to start after my husband takes his shower.
I'm going to try to head to bed early tonight. I've got C25K in the morning and more ChaLEAN in the afternoon.

    Somehow putting the words cleaned the cat box after your pics of your chocolate chip baking just seemed wrong somehow...
I tried to make a chocolate chip slice once, it ended very very badly... Mostly because I fell asleep and it cooked for 3 hours...

    Way to go on the working out. You are an iron woman! My elbows and shoulders couldn`t take those kind of weights. I have a hard time with jeans, too. I have found a couple of brands that fit pretty well, but they are $85 - $100 a pair. Having a couple of pairs makes me watch what I eat more so they fit.

    Target jeans just do not fit me at all. Old Navy usually works pretty good for me, but you're so small you might have trouble finding your size - I guess sometimes it's good to be larger! Altho even their short lengths are still too long.

C25K W4D2 (this time it really is day 2) and ChaLEAN Extreme Day 10

I was crazy and got up at 2:30 and did my C25K run/walk. It felt good. It definitely made me less crabby on the way in to work.
I got to work at the VA and looked at some data. Then I had to drive over to Stanford at 9am for a meeting at 9:30. It wouldn't be so bad except they're doing construction all over the campus so it makes getting around difficult. And I have to pay for parking...boooooo! Luckily when I got back to the VA I was able to find a parking space. There is construction going on there as well and they've blocked off a lot of the parking. Sometimes people have to park far away and take a shuttle.
When I got home I did my ChaLEAN Day 10 which was Burn Intervals and Ab Burner. The same workout as last Wednesday. I don't think I got enough sleep last night because it seemed harder today. Or maybe it's because I did it in the morning last week and in the afternoon today. I don't know.
We had turkey burgers, asparagus and the few Alexia onion rings that were left from last week (they're frozen, so it's safe) for dinner tonight. I think it's exactly the same meal we had last Tuesday. Equally as yummy.

    Mmm turkey burgers! My boyfriend and I made turkey burgers last week and piled it with a few slices of avacado and a dollop of salsa and it was AWESOME! lol

I love that, when a good workout in the morning gets you in a good mood, I miss those.. lol I havent had a chance to workout in the mornings since the branches that I have to go to are about an hour away. Cant wait til my branch opens up again so I have time in the morning to workout! My branch is about a 15 minute train ride away from my place lol miss it so!

    Nat, i sure don't envy your parking situation. back in the day (10 years ago!) we walked at least a mile from the parking lot to our desks. every day! i am sure it was great exercise, but not when it is raining, cold, etc. now, i wouldn't mind it so much, but the traffic would kill me. it took us over an hour to commute 16 miles.

we had turkey burgers for dinner too! with some fried potatoes. a little splurge, but only a 550 cal dinner, so that was great!

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 9

I had planned on getting up at 2:30 this morning so I could work out. I did wake up but I had a horrible sinus headache and the room was spinning. I thought it best to go back to sleep. When I got up at 3:30, I was feeling a lot better.
Busy day at work. I delivered to cookies to my patient friend. He was very happy to get them and it made me happy that I made him happy. :-) Lots of trips between the two labs (10) and some dancing in my office.
When I got home I did my ChaLEAN workout. Today was Burn Circuit 2.
Sumo Squat with Bicep Curl - W 12.5 R 10
Lunge with One-Arm Tricep Extension - - W 7.5 R 12
Dead Lift Row - - W 17.5 R 12
Sumo Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension-- W17.5 R10 (and I didn't hit myself in the head...bonus)
Dead Lift with Double Row -- W17.5 R 10
Bowler's Lunge with Single-Arm Row - - W 17.5 R 10
Bicep Curls with Abductor Balance - - W 10 R 12
Forward Lean Lunge with Double Row - - W 17.5 R 12
Triple-Threat Push Ups - 12 (on toes..but barely)
I increased most of my weights. I forgot I was going to on the second exercise. I was definitely glad I didn't hit myself in the head with the 17.5 pound weight. Those weights are larger than my regular dumb bells. My arms felt shaky for a good hour after I was done. Awesome workout!!
We had some black pepper and garlic smoked salmon with whole wheat mini bagels for dinner. I had some neufchatel cheese on mine. My husband put avocado on his. A very tasty dinner.

    Wow 17.5? I am on my third week and the heaviest I use is 12.5 on anything. My reebok dial weights don't go heavier than 12.5. Wish I could invest in the Selectechs, but don't think that's happening anytime in the near future.

You get up at 2:30 to work out? What time do you go to bed? I thought getting up at 5 to go to the gym was hard- but 2:30!!

    I'm exactly 1 week and 1 day behind you. Thanks for putting down the weights you use, i'll make a mental note and go a little lighter. I wished i had selectTechs for more weight options but i'm so cheap. Plus i've got a little one and I think selecttechs will be hard to pull out and put away all the time.

C25K W4D2 and ChaLEAN Extreme Day 9

Today was actually a rest day for ChaLEAN, so I just did my run this morning. It was nice doing some longer intervals. As usual for them, my knees didn't start to feel sore until this evening. Hey, as long as they don't hurt while I'm running I'm going to continue.
Lots of running around at work. We had a meeting from about 11:15 till 1. Boy was I glad to finally have lunch.
I had brought the left over espresso cookies for one of our former dialysis patients. He is up in the hospice unit and has stopped dialysis. He only took one cookie because he said that they would bother his stomach. I promised I'd bring some different cookies. I baked some sugar cookies for him. They are the same recipe that I had made for our friend's birthday last month.

For dinner tonight we had Peanut Noodles with Chicken and Vegetables. I got the recipe from the Jillian Michaels website when I was a member but it is originally from Eating Well. I substituted PB2 for half of the peanut butter to make it a little less evil. Sorry, I forgot to get a picture. It was really tasty.
Now I've got to box the cookies up and maybe head to bed a little early. I've got some ChaLEAN to do in the morning.

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 8

I know I missed blogging yesterday. Way too tired in the evening when we got back from the model contest. Lots of fun but exhausting. Yesterday was my rest day from exercise, so nothing to report on that front.
Today was day 8 of ChaLEAN.
Burn Circuit 1

Sumo Squat with Hip Lift - W 15 R 12 (I'll try 17.5 next time)
Lunge with Posterior Fly - - W 7.5 R 12
Push Up with Leg Lift - 12 (on toes)
Dead Lift with Posterior Fly - - W 7.5 R 12
Lunge with Core Rotation - - W 17.5 R 12
Bench Press and Leg Lower - - W 12.5 R 12
Squat with Side Bend - - W 17.5 R 12
Forward Lean Lunge with DBL Arm Posterior Fly - - W 7.5 R 12 (6 each leg)
Chest Fly with Hip Lift - - W 10 R 12
I increased all my weights since I did it last Sunday. We moved the weights close to the TV, so I don't have to pause as much to get ready for the next exercise. Still getting used to setting the weights. You have to twist both sides to lock in the plates and they twist in opposite directions (well, it's really the same direction but since one is in front and one is behind it is opposite....does that make any sense?).
I decided to get some cardio in so I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. I wanted to get some miles for the virtual relay and I felt like ellipticalling.
It's been a catch up on chores day. I did some swiffervac, we went grocery shopping, I baked some blueberry Vitamuffins for my husband to take to work (yes, from a mix). He's fixing the sprinklers right now. Apparently one of the pipes was leaking and spraying water all over. I hope he finishes soon because I don't like to be left without any water and he needed to shut off the water to make his repairs.
I was going to do laundry but that will have to wait until the water is turned back on.

    Sounds like a very productive weekend -- hope you got caught up on your sleep. We had a nice relaxing weekend, too. Did some cooking this afternoon and have things ready for DH and I to pack for our lunches. Tried a granola bar recipe that turned out like granola cereal -- edible, but not bar-like. Oh well, maybe next time emoticon
