C25K W3D3, ChaLEAN Extreme Day 6, and I Baked the Cookies

Since I had a lot of working out to do today, I made sure to get up this morning at my crazy 2:30am time. I finished week 3 of the C25K. For some reason my wonky knee was sore last night and it continued into today. It wasn't worse after I ran. I actually wore my Cho-pat dual action knee support:

I'm not sure if wearing it helped any or not but my knee didn't hurt at all while running but was a little sore during the day on and off...just it's usual weirdness.
Only a half dozen trips between the labs today at work.
When I got home I did ChaLEAN Extreme Burn it off (plyometrics) and Recharge (yoga). I wore the strap for these workouts as well. I figured it couldn't hurt. No pain during the plyometrics and it's been feeling good since. Weird.
I did bake the Espresso Chocolate Espresso Chunk Cookies. Espresso cookies with espresso flavored chocolate chunks....lots of coffee flavor. I added a little cinnamon to give it a Mexican Coffee flavor.

The second load of laundry is in the dryer and after I fold it, I will head to bed. Gotta get up at 5 to have breakfast and get to the Convention Center by 7am.

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 5

I was up late last night (well, late for me). I got to bed around 10:30. I certainly wasn't going to try getting up at 2:30 to exercise.
Busy day at work and then I dropped my car off at the mechanic for it's 120,000 mile service. Did a little browsing in Sports Authority and Marshalls but didn't buy anything. I did pick up some peanut M&M's for the candy dish at work. I will not eat any of them. Then I picked up my car and paid my mechanic with a big kiss....mechanic is my husband :-)
I came home and took butter and eggs out of the fridge. Then I did my ChaLEAN workout.

Here's my Burn Circuit 3
Sumo Squat with Overhead Press ~ W-10 R-11
Lunge with Calf Raise ~W-17.5 R-12
Squat with Lateral Raise ~ W-7.5 R-12
Lunge with Frontal Press ~ W-10 R-12
Squat with Calf Raise ~ W-17.5 R-12
Sumo Squat with Delt Raises ~ W-7.5 R-12
Squat with Double Overhead Press ~ W-10 R-12
Lunge with Lateral Raise ~ W-7.5 R-12 (6 on each leg)

Yes, I can do half pound increments because I used my fancy new weights today:

They are really nice. The only drawback is that they are placed kind of far away from where I work out because I didn't want them in the middle of the rug. I have to pause the DVD sometimes to change weights. Not a huge problem.
These are my other weights:

After working out, I mixed up some of the espresso chocolate espresso chunk cookies and put them in the fridge to mature. They definitely taste better if they have been sitting in the fridge for at least 12 hours. I'll be baking them tomorrow to bring to the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers Kick Off Classic model contest on Saturday. I'll be working registration. Very similar to my last Saturday.

    Those weights look nice. I need something like that. I only have the small hand weights and they are only 3 lbs each, not enough for me to lift on a regular basis. I also have 5 lb kettlebells but they are not heavy enough any more either. Maybe I will upgrade when the tax return comes along. :)

120,000 miles is pretty good. We had a Jetta with I think more than that. We ran it into the ground by commuting 2+ hours each way.

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 4, C25K W3D2, ChaLEAN before pictures

Today was day 4 of ChaLEAN Extreme. I did the Burn Intervals which is about 45 minutes of 2 minutes of high intensity cardio followed by 3 minutes of muscle endurance weight training (light weights). I ended up using my old regular 5 pound weights. Tomorrow I'll try out the fancy new ones. Then I did Ab Burner which is 10 minutes of abdominal exercises.
I will be doing my C25K as soon as I finish this blog.
I made an agreement with APIRLRAIN888 this morning that if she posted her bikini challenge pictures, I'd post the pictures I took on Sunday morning (very early and I hadn't combed my hair) before starting the ChaLEAN Extreme. You may recall that I posted my stats. Here they are again:
Chest: 31.25
Upper arm: 11
Waist: 25.5
Hips: 34.5
Abductors: 37.5 (Yes, I do have quite the saddlebags)
Thighs: 21.25 (both are the same)
Here are the pictures...yikes!!!

We'll revisit these in 30 days (well, 26 but anyway).

ChaLEAN Extreme Day 3

It's kind of weird that day 2 is a rest day, but that's what the workout calendar says. Today was Day 3. I got up this morning and did Burn Circuit 2.
Sumo Squat with Bicep Curl - W 10 R 12 (I'll try 12 next time)
Lunge with One-Arm Tricep Extencion - - W 8 R 12 (I'll try 10 next time)
Dead Lift Row - - W 15 R 12 (I'll try 17.5 next time since I"ll have the fancy weights)
Sumo Squat with Overhead Tricep Extension-- W15 R12 (and I didn't hit myself in the head...bonus)
Dead Lift with Double Row -- W15 R 12
Bowler's Lunge with Single-Arm Row - - W 15 R 12
Bicep Curls with Abductor Balance - - W 8 R 12 (I'll try 10 or 12 next time)
Forward Lean Lunge with Double Row - - W 15 R 12
Triple-Threat Push Ups - 12 (on toes..but barely)
My arms are feeling it tonight. An excellent workout.
Me being me, I ended up dancing around for 45 minutes and going up and down the stairs between the labs a dozen times. Lots of exercise today.
When I wasn't walking up and down the stairs at work, I got fiber packets ready for our study subjects t his week and checking the new HPLC. I finally got it running leak free. Now I just have to decide what wavelengths I want to use on the fluorescence detector.
When I got home, there was a giant box from Amazon. My new weights. Unfortunately, the box weighed 125lbs. I had to leave it outside until my husband got home. They're going to be fun to play with.
There was a small package from Amazon as well. Jillian Michaels new DVD, Ripped in 30. It has 4 workouts. Supposedly you do each for 5 or 6 days before moving on to the next one. She wants you to take at least 1 rest day and as many as 2. So you do each workout for a week. I watched the first one. Very much like the 30 day shred. 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of abs in 3 circuits. I'll have to wait until I'm done with ChaLEAN before trying it out.
We had some turkey burgers, asparagus and Alexia onion rings for dinner. Super yummy.

    I agree that it's weird about day 2 being a rest day. I'm very curious to see how you like the new weights. I would like to get them eventually - right now is out of the question since I'm not working...but someday. It's nice that your job keeps you on the go and not just sitting all day.

    I get the rest day on day 2: it's for those who found the workout was a shock to the system -- doesn't seem to be your issue!!!!

Have fun! Sounds intense! The food stuff (last blog and this one) sound good. I steer away from tofu after learning that soy can interfere with thyroid function.

My daughter is vegetarian and she doesn't eat well until she comes home from school, but there's been too many stressors, so, she is trying to eat more regularly. I make her a grilled smart bacon (veggie protein), egg, and provolone cheese grilled sandwich in the mornings -- the smell lingers for awhile in the house . . . .

C25K W3D1 and Tofu Scramble for Dinner

I thought I'd start off the week early and got up at 2:30 to get my run in. I did add on a little time to the runs making it a total of 11 minutes running (that way I'd get a mile in). Then I hiked for a little while at a 15% incline. When I ran out of time, I stopped.
The knees have been a little sore all day but they started out that way and aren't any worse after running then they were before.
It was a very busy day at work. I went up and down between the two labs at least 10 times. I have over 17000 steps today according to my fitbit.
When I got home, I started a load of laundry and took a couple of eggs out of the fridge to warm up.
King Arthur Flour had sent me some milled flax seed to test out and review, so I found a recipe on their site for brownies with fruit, nuts and flax. I haven't cut them yet, but the batter tasted good.

Then I started on dinner. Tofu scramble with onions, bell peppers and Trader Joe's Harvest Hodgepodge vegetables. I added lots of curry powder, some garlic and cayenne. It turned out really well. A piece of wheat toast completed the tasty meal.

Now I just have to get my lunch and snacks together for tomorrow. I may have the tofu scramble if my husband doesn't want to take it.

    The brownies look delicious and if the batter was good... well... then you KNOW the brownies will be! I used to make cookies and brownies just so I could eat the batter!!     2:30 is a little early for me, but I do the 4:30 am workouts. Would be earlier if the gym opened up earlier, but it doesn't. I love the early am workouts, that way you can relax when you come home from a long day at work.

    Your getting up when I am trying to go to sleep. Well done on the steps, you are doing an awesome job. Tofu scramble I need to look up the recipe for it. Sounds good.
