Sore Knees Why Don't You Go Away Already.

I didn't get much sleep last night and was hungry and craving carbs all day. I did end up eating some peanut M&M's but not so many that they qualified as a meal. At home I had some Trader Joes' version of funyuns...yummy.
I did to C25K W1D2 today. My knees were sore before I started. It continued into the warm up and they were a little sore on and off while running. Not even for the whole minute. I don't think the running is causing them to be sore.
I do wish they would just stop being sore. It's getting really annoying. Sometimes they're perfectly fine and sometimes not. It doesn't correspond to anything I'm doing. Weird.
I baked some cookies this evening for a friend's birthday. I will post a picture tomorrow when I box them up.
I'm very glad I have tomorrow off. I can get in my weight training and do some elliptical...burn off those TJ's funyuns and my dinner of leftover huevos con papas. Hopefully I'll get plenty of sleep tonight.
I will be baking cupcakes tomorrow and there will be a picture of them as well. They won't be frosted yet. I will wait until Saturday to do that.

    I'm wondering what kind of sore - I've read up about when my knee hurts on the side and the recommendation is to emoticon right away. I'm trying to get myself to use my foam roller and IT band massages to help with that. Be careful with knee soreness. There could be other things. Hope you are catching up on emoticonthis weekend!

    That is so weird, you knees! I don't know what to say ;p does it have anything to do with what you eat or temperature?
I have a hypocondriac friend, and she swears her joint pains go away if she takes certain things out of her diet! and also if temp goes up or down.

If running hurts your knees don't run use the elliptical if necessary.. You can also get a good cardio work out walking.. I can't run either even if I have lost half my body weight- just because I got the weight off it doesn't cancell out damage done..
Also make sure you are fitted with a good pair of running shoes by a running shop specialist what is between our knees and the pavement is on our feet..
Hang in there, I have been a big running fan but my chiropactor and doctors have retired me from running.. Also replacement knee joints are never as good as the real ones- more limitations.. I am going for being able to walk on my own knees when I am old,
I ain't giving up just finding what doesn't hurt my old knees lol..
nutrition is 80% of this journey, I lost my 176lbs walking..

Dinner With BFF Tonight

It was not quite as busy today at work. I did have to check all the samples that came in the shipment to make sure they were what they said they sent. They emailed an excel spreadsheet with all of the sample numbers. I looked at over 1300 tiny vials. Since they had been in the -80C freezer, they were super cold. I thought I was going to get frostbite ;-)
Other random stuff to do and then we had a lab meeting that lasted 2 hours. There went my day.
The knees are feeling pretty good today. They were a little sore in the morning and last night but they seem to feel that at those times anyway. So far so good. The problem with restarted the C25K when your heart, lungs and muscles are used to doing more than that is that it isn't really that much of a workout. I do promise not to skip any days though. My joints, ligaments and tendons need to go slowly.
Tonight I'm meeting up with my BFF to celebrate my birthday a little early. It's on Saturday for those of you that care. We're going out for Mexican because I am craving some huevos con papas. Yes, I could get scrambled eggs and home fries at any restaurant that serves breakfast but it's just different from a Mexican place. I guess I should have scheduled today to be an exercise day, but it's not. I did dance around my office for 30 minutes but that isn't going to offset dinner. I'll only eat half anyway. Take the rest home for dinner tomorrow.

I agree that restarting the C25K seems pretty easy once you have done it already. What I did was run much faster than I normally do.

    Hope it was a great dinner! I was actually going to try to run yesterday, but after 3 hours of shopping - and still needing to walk the dogs - I didn't. You really shouldn't have to exercise more to eat out, it's more about how consistent you are - and you definitely ARE!

C25K Week 1 Day 1...Let's see how the knees like it.

I had a super busy day at work. I went in and had to get rid of some old samples from the -80C freezer to make room for some new ones that were shipped to us yesterday. Then I had to drive over to another hospital and drop off some fiber packets and get some blood from one of our study participants. Then it was back to the VA and get the blood ready to run on the HPLC (I'll actually run it next Tuesday) and make an aliquot for the clinical lab. By that time, it was time for lunch...not a moment to soon as I was starving. Then I had to wait for my shipment to come. I finally got at at 2:45. I usually leave work at 2:00 but I had to wait for my stuff. Then I had to unpack it all and put it in the freezer. It was almost 4:30 by the time I got home.
I fired up the treadmill and the C25K app on my iPhone and I was off. My knees felt a little tight during the first few running intervals but by half way through they were fine. No pain at all. They felt a little tight afterward but that happens sometimes with the elliptical as well. They're a little sore tonight but they've been a little sore at night for weeks. I'll see how they feel tomorrow.
Dinner tonight (in case you were wondering) was salmon burgers (I had my on a sandwich thin) and asparagus. Then I realize I was way too low on calories, so I had some almonds.
Pretty good day! Tomorrow is my rest day (meaning I may dance around my office but won't do any weights or heavy cardio).
Happy Tuesday night and have fun watching Biggest Loser if you do (I don't and I only caught a little of tonight's What Not to Wear).

I have never tried a salmon burger but one of my friends says a spot by her that makes the best salmon burgers! I must try!

Work was okay. I had to drive over to Stanford for a meeting this morning. That's not so bad. It's the parking over there that I hate. Luckily I found a spot easily. I ended up paying $5 to park. I wasn't sure how long the meeting was going to last and it was $1 for each hour. I didn't have 2 ones, so $5 it was. Oh well.
Lots of stuff to do when I got back to the VA.
My boss actually gave me a small box of See's candy. He can be very sweet sometimes.
Then he wanted to go over some information from the meeting and make a plan for things to do. This made me miss another meeting I was supposed to go (but really didn't want to).
I emailed my doctor this morning. I wanted to let her know that my knees were still sore in the mornings when I got up, often sore in the evenings and sometimes just sore randomly. I asked if I could start running this week. She said as long as I took it slow then I could give it a go. YAY!!! I'll be starting the C25K (for the 4th time) tomorrow.
I had turkey chili simmering in the slow cooker all day. It made for a great dinner.
I gave my husband his Valentine's Day present...a whole bunch of different chocolates and a card. He gave me mine: a box of chocolate, a card and a dozen very beautiful red roses.
It turned out to be a great day and that is really saying something for a Monday.
