I slept in until 5:30 this morning. I must have been super tired. I was craving some cardio so I did 70 minutes on the elliptical and got in 6 miles.
I made some oatmeal with a little vanilla whey powder, chocolate PB2, fiber one and a square of Trader Joe's Organic Super Dark 73% chocolate. Tasty!!!
For my husband, I baked Ginger Chocolate Chunk Scones. I needed 1 square shy of 1.5 bars of the TJ's chocolate...that's why it ended up in my oatmeal. Win-win!
I did a load of laundry and swiffer vac'd around the house. We went to Trader Joe's to pick up some groceries. After they got put away, we went out to lunch at one of the many local taquerias. I had some chile verde, rice, beans and tortillas. It was pretty good but not as good as the chile verde at El Rancho.
I got a Cookie Calendar. It's one of those page a day calendars (weekends are one page), so it has over 300 recipes. Actually it has a master recipe and then for a few days following it, there are variations. I picked it up yesterday when we were walking around Mountain View. I decided to make this weekend's cookie: macadamia nut cookies with the variation of dried cranberries.
They turned out nicely. I did not roll them in sugar and flatten them. I just left them as scooped.
I'm really not sure what we'll be doing for dinner if anything. I suppose we'll be hungry soon. I have nothing planned for tonight so we'll have to pick something up.
Have a great night. I hope everybody has a fabulous week!

DH and I headed out at 6:30 because I needed to stop for gas. Then off to Kaiser. Of course the door I usually go in was locked, we had to find another door. Finally get in and get to the lab at 6:55...it is supposed to open at 7:00..it was already open and they were on number 50 (no, it does not start at 1 every day) and I pulled my number...60. Not too bad. Only have to wait for 9 people. I get my blood drawn and we decide to head over to the hospital building to see if we can get a cup of coffee since my mammogram isn't until 8:30 and it was only about 7:15. We find the cafeteria but it doesn't open until 9 on the weekends and although there are vending machines, there isn't one that sells the icky coffee. We leave the hospital from the basement and get trapped behind the building. Have to walk up and down a whole bunch of stairs before we get to a place that we recognize. It's time for Starbucks. We cross the massive parking lot and finally get across the street.
YAY for coffee!!!! Then it's time to head back to Kaiser. We get back at 7:55 and they are just arriving in the Women's Imaging department. I get checked in and prepare to wait until 8:30. I get called back at 8:15 and we're walking out of the building at 8:30. I call my brother to let him know we're heading over and he says "Wow, your appointment only lasted 1 minute."
We went to Baji's Down the Street Cafe. I got a really good egg white, chicken, mushroom, tomato, onion and jack cheese scramble with some home fries and 9 grain toast. I was starving so I ate the whole scramble but only half of the potatoes and toast.
As we often do, we headed over to Fry's Electronics and walked around for a couple of hours looking at DVDs, Blu-rays, PS3 games. We get back to my brother's place and then people are starting to feel a little hungry. We decide to walk to downtown Mountain View and go to Shiva (Indian buffet).
Too much tasty food was eaten...well, I still made my calories...not even at the the top and I definitely don't want dinner.
Got lots of walking in. It was a 5 mile round trip to lunch/dinner (lunner). I'm at about 19,000 steps for the day. It turned out to be a good one.

I did not do any elliptical today. I was tired and slept in. When I got up my joints were feeling pretty good but by the time I got to work, my knees and elbows were pretty unhappy.
I was done for the day trying to wrangle up people for our study at work, so I headed over to Kaiser for my appointment. I got there about an hour early. That's okay, on a few occasions I've even been seen early. That was not the case today. My appointment was supposed to be at 3:10 but I didn't get called back to see the doctor until after 4:00. She asked lots of questions, she looked at my knees, she listened to my heart and lungs. This was a yearly checkup originally. She said that along with the regular blood tests, she would check for arthritis and also check my vitamin D level. That's good because I was going to ask her if I could have my vitamin D level checked because I wear sunscreen every day and it's usually SPF 100. She doesn't think that I have rheumatoid arthritis, but I could have osteoarthritis. I could also be vitamin D deficient which can cause joint issues. She did send me to get x-rays of my knees since those are the worst joints. We'll see what they turn up and what happens with the blood tests. I won't be doing those until Saturday because I need to be fasting and their lab opens too late (6:30am) during the week for me to go before work. I should have some sort of idea of what's going on by early next week.
She did say no running or jumping (so no jumping jacks or jump rope...sorry, Jillian), until she at least sees the x-rays. Elliptical is okay.
So the answer is, we don't know yet.
If I don't stay up too late tonight, I'll try getting up in the morning to exercise. It's already getting late so I guess I should wind this down and get to bed soon.
I'll keep you updated!
