Relaxing Saturday

Saturday, January 08, 2011

I slept in this morning. Got up at about 6am. You all know that is late for me.
I did not do an hour on th elliptical like I had planned. My knees were a little sore last night so I thought maybe I had been pushing too hard and took a rest day. I know that's unusual for me. I did do my QuickFire team things: 3 sets of 10 squats and this month is pilates moves so I did the single leg stretch. I swiffer vac'd a little, did a couple of loads of laundry, went grocery shopping but that's it. Maybe after dinner we'll turn on the PS3 and play a game...not sure.
Before heading to the grocery store, we stopped for lunch at a place we've been wanting to try. Alexi's Resturant is a small diner. I had an egg white omelet with mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, zucchini and feta cheese. Very tasty but a little heavy on the feta. I didn't eat a lot of that. The home fries were very tasty. My husband ate about 2/3 of mine. He had a hot turkey sandwich..the usual..open face with turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. I want to try the blueberry buckwheat pancakes next time we go. I love buckwheat pancakes. I was so sad when IHOP stopped serving them.
We decided to walk around Michael's crafts for a little while afterward. They're in the same shopping center. I bought some more cupcake boxes to use for gifts. Then off to the grocery store to stock up on a few things.
I think we're going to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner tonight. My husband wants some vegetables since he hasn't had anything but potatoes yesterday and today. That should be good. I hope we go soon, I'm pretty hungry.
Have a great night all!!

Sounds like another nice, semi-relaxing day with good food choices. And you must've rubbed off on me cause after getting up at 3:30 to pee, I slept in til 6 am this morning myself.

But at least it is my official rest day!

Buckwheat pancakes? Seriously I have never met anyone outside my family who likes them! My dad used to make a family recipe of homemade buckwheat pancakes. The sad thing is he & my grandma that used to make them are both gone. Nobody in the family has it & she never wrote it in her recipe books I have of hers. I've tried recipes over the years & can't get it even close to dad's.

Thanks for the memory! emoticon

I Am So Happy It's Friday!!

Friday, January 07, 2011

Well, I was a slacker this morning. I didn't get up to workout. I decided to sleep in until 3:45. That's okay, though. When I got home I did Jackie Warner Xtreme Timesaver Training and then did about 40 minutes on the elliptical to get in 3 miles for the Virtual SF to NYC. It was a good workout. I'm pretty sure I'll be feeling it in my shoulders tomorrow because Jackie loves to work shoulders...trying to make everyone Red Carpet Ready.
My husband called and said that they were not going to meet to pick up the TV and move it until 6, so he thought he'd just stay at work because it's close to the TV. He offered to bring El Pollo Loco home for dinner. It's always tasty and depending on the sides, it can be very healthy. I don't like the skin so that cuts out some fat a calories. It should be a very nice dinner.
I'm glad he called before I took my shower. That way I was able to just put on my pj's instead of getting dressed. I'll just have a nice cozy evening. That's the way Friday should end.
Have a great night and a wonderful weekend!!

Thanks for the reminder about tracking the miles! I think I have about 5 so far this month, but I will start putting those in. I love lazy Friday nights since I am usually tired after the week of work. I thought 5:45 was getting up early to work out! Lucky you that you got dinner brought to you. I can't complain because for the past 2 nights, hubby made dinner for me since he was home early. Last night we had my favourite Friday dinner, peameal bacon (Canadian bacon), eggs and whole wheat toast. Didn't even have a veggie, but I'll eat extra ones today. Have a wonderful day today.

Here's to the weekend & being cozy -- but moving some, too!

We used to have an Ell Pollo Loco over here but it got shut down, but their foood WAS really good!

Thursday is Almost Friday

Thursday, January 06, 2011

Well I was so exhausted yesterday that I slept in this morning. The headache was gone and I felt good.
I was good today. No candy. When I got home from work, I did an hour on the elliptical and added 5 miles to the virtual ST to NYC challenge. I'm thinking I might elliptical again in the morning and maybe do some strength training after work. My husband has to help a friend of his move a TV after work so he might be home latish. It's always good to burn a few extra calories on Friday because we go out to dinner.
Tonight I'll be having some of the leftover roasted chicken. I was thinking of making a wrap with the pita and adding some pepper jack cheese and some onions. Maybe even put it in the oven like a pizza.....yeah, that sounds good.
Happy Thursday! We've almost made it!

I was exhausted thursday morning too! I had to call my job up and tell them I was coming in late because I needed to sleep some more. I definitely didnt tell them WHY I needed to come in late lol but my body seriously was burnt out for whatever reason.

Yay for Wednesday!

Wednesday, January 05, 2011

I went to bed with a migraine yesterday and woke up at 2:30 this morning and it was still pretty bad so I dragged myself downstairs and took a couple of Tylenol and got back into bed. I knew I wasn't going to be able to face Bob Harper (as pretty as he is) with that headache. By the time the alarm went off at 3:45, it was gone and pretty much stayed gone until about 1pm when I had to take more drugs. Just one of the crappy side effects of TOM.
I did exercise when I got home. Bob Harper's Inside Out Pure Burn Super Strength...66 minutes of fun. I even used some 8lb weight for some of it. I can't use any weights on the push ups and T-stands at the end. They hurt my hands even though they are padded. I don't think I could add any more padding to them but ouch. You have the weights in your had on the floor and prop yourself up. Does that make sense. Anyway, I have to just rest myself on my hands and then pick up the weight for the arm that goes up.
I'm trying to decide if I'll do the elliptical in the morning or wait until the afternoon. I guess I'll see what my legs feel like in the morning. There were a lot of squats and lunges holding those 8lb weights.
Tonight we're having some pork tamales that I got from a coworker. She had made them for Christmas and save some for me in the freezer. I can see how they compare to the ones we had on Christmas. I'll heat up some refried beans and dinner will be complete.
Much better than the peanut M&M's I had for lunch. I don't know why I was craving them so much..yes, I do....TOM. At least they have some protein from the peanuts and they're low sodium. I will not have any more of them this week...I have written it and I will heed it.
I'm looking forward to Friday. It's been a weird week back at work. That always happens after a vacation. Next week will feel normal.
Have a great night!

We have a soft spot for tamales here! I like to reheat them in a pot on the stove with a little water. The steam heats them without drying them out more. Although, my mother-in-love fries them the second time around.

Glad the drugs worked! TOM arrived here also, but oddly enough I felt much better after its arrival. There must be something hormonal that drives those symptoms I was having -- it's not the first time I haven't felt well before the arrival, but it doesn't happen everytime either, thankfully.

Thankfully peanut M&Ms aren't my thing . . . now peanut BUTTER M&Ms, that's a different story. They used to be my treat on New Years -- but not for a while now!

Tuesday Was OK

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

Even though I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning at the very early hour of 2:45, I did. Then I proceeded to do 47 minutes on the elliptical...wanted to get in 4 miles for the Virtual SF to NYC. Of course I had to go down and feed our cat and the strays outside, get my water, get into my exercise clothes, and get a Man from U.N.C.L.E. DVD loaded in the player before I could get started. I wish there was some way to just get up and go without having to use up close to 30 minutes of my morning. Then I had to rush to get a shower in and inhale by english muffin with peanut butter before heading out to work. I guess I could start getting up 15 minutes earlier...I'll try that tomorrow and see if I can be slightly less rushed.
Work wasn't too busy today but busy enough to keep me from being bored. That's good because I brought leftover cookies in and didn't have time to eat any.
I stopped on the way home to pick up a rotisserie chicken (organic, even) for dinner. I'm also going to make some baked falafel patties. I may decide to keep it a vegetarian day and not have any chicken. I'll decide when we're eating. I've got whole wheat pita, roasted garlic hummus, some beautiful grape tomatoes, romaine lettuce and onions. A little hot sauce and we're ready to rock! It should be tasty.
I don't watch Biggest Loser but I will be watching What Not To Wear tonight.
Have a fabulous Tuesday!!

Your pitas sound so delicious I think I'm going to add the same exact ingredients to my next shopping list! I have an italian casserole baking in the oven so tonight is already covered. My injury (whatever it is exactly) is much better today. By the time I went to bed last night I was all hunched over and pretty much hobbling. I didn't ice it but I did take a long hot shower. That's probably what made it worse. I always tend to do things bass ackwards ;) And I'm still in total amazement that you get up at 2:45! Lately I haven't been going to bed til around then because I've been watching previous seasons of Dexter (my new favorite tv show!). I recorded Biggest Loser but I'm way more into Dexter right now! I'm almost done with season 3 and about to order season 4 (you can buy/watch from Amazon for half the price of buying the dvd's). Ok I'll stop rambling now. Have a great day!

There are days, tho, that I definitely wish I didn't have to feed the cats, feed the dogs, make breakfast for DH, walk the dogs . . . and so on. But then they bring me so much happiness (most days) it really is worth it.
