Tuesday Was OK

Tuesday, January 04, 2011

Even though I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning at the very early hour of 2:45, I did. Then I proceeded to do 47 minutes on the elliptical...wanted to get in 4 miles for the Virtual SF to NYC. Of course I had to go down and feed our cat and the strays outside, get my water, get into my exercise clothes, and get a Man from U.N.C.L.E. DVD loaded in the player before I could get started. I wish there was some way to just get up and go without having to use up close to 30 minutes of my morning. Then I had to rush to get a shower in and inhale by english muffin with peanut butter before heading out to work. I guess I could start getting up 15 minutes earlier...I'll try that tomorrow and see if I can be slightly less rushed.
Work wasn't too busy today but busy enough to keep me from being bored. That's good because I brought leftover cookies in and didn't have time to eat any.
I stopped on the way home to pick up a rotisserie chicken (organic, even) for dinner. I'm also going to make some baked falafel patties. I may decide to keep it a vegetarian day and not have any chicken. I'll decide when we're eating. I've got whole wheat pita, roasted garlic hummus, some beautiful grape tomatoes, romaine lettuce and onions. A little hot sauce and we're ready to rock! It should be tasty.
I don't watch Biggest Loser but I will be watching What Not To Wear tonight.
Have a fabulous Tuesday!!

Your pitas sound so delicious I think I'm going to add the same exact ingredients to my next shopping list! I have an italian casserole baking in the oven so tonight is already covered. My injury (whatever it is exactly) is much better today. By the time I went to bed last night I was all hunched over and pretty much hobbling. I didn't ice it but I did take a long hot shower. That's probably what made it worse. I always tend to do things bass ackwards ;) And I'm still in total amazement that you get up at 2:45! Lately I haven't been going to bed til around then because I've been watching previous seasons of Dexter (my new favorite tv show!). I recorded Biggest Loser but I'm way more into Dexter right now! I'm almost done with season 3 and about to order season 4 (you can buy/watch from Amazon for half the price of buying the dvd's). Ok I'll stop rambling now. Have a great day!

That is so great that you are able to get up that early!!! My only suggestion to shortening your morning routine is to sleep in your workout clothes and have your tennies right next to the bed. You're just going to sweat in them anyway, right?

You are my AM inspiration! I really need to start a routine of getting up in the AM to do my exercise. It's just so difficult fitting everything in in the evenings... I'm usually not getting on Lippy till 8:30 pm at the earliest!

WAY TO GO!!!!

Maybe you should sleep in your clothes so you wont need to get dressed in the morning, if you fill up a water bottle and put it in the fridge ready the night before you only have to grab it and run...

One of the things I love about not working (and formerly working from home) is having unrushed mornings. Is there anything DH can help with? You really shouldn't skimp on your sleep!

There are days, tho, that I definitely wish I didn't have to feed the cats, feed the dogs, make breakfast for DH, walk the dogs . . . and so on. But then they bring me so much happiness (most days) it really is worth it.

I commend you for getting up at 2:45! Sometimes 10 or 15 extra minutes is all you need. I've taken to feeding the animals at night, sometime before sleep, so that I have one less thing to do in the morning. And then for the cat, I leave down a little extra dry food. P.S. I just realized how much I miss having english muffins for breakfast. Maybe I'll make that tomorrow's breakfast. I hope your dinner is just as tasty!

Back at Work

Monday, January 03, 2011

My knee was sore when that cat woke me at about 2am, so I decided I'd wait to exercise in the afternoon. When I got up at 3:45, it was feeling much better. I don't know what it's problem was but I didn't have time to workout then.
It was not to bad at work today. Just kind of weird getting used to being there. There was plenty to keep me busy and since Spark was having its issues I guess that's a good thing.
When I got home, I tried out Jillian Michaels Shred it with Weights. I did the first workout and used a 5lb kettlebell. I didn't want to go heavy when I was just learning it. I probably should have done more weight because it seemed pretty easy. According to my heart rate monitor, I burned a whopping 86 calories in the 30 minutes of the workout. That's no way to get shredded. I'll try it again and use a 10lb kettlebell. It does have some jumping, so we'll see how my knees are in the morning.
I couldn't figure out what to make for dinner so I settled on an old standby: whole wheat spaghetti with turkey meatballs and sockarooni sauce. For variety we had some frozen lima beans..no, we didn't eat them frozen.
I'm looking forward to the elliptical in the morning (well, sort of...I'd really rather have a run but think I should give it another week at least). At least it will burn more than 86 calories.
I hope everyone had a good Monday.

My knees have been sore lately too. Mine is because I haven't been stretching them out enough. If I baby them, they fight back with me until they are all stretched out again.

They were tight this morning doing the Wii Active workout & now I am off to do some pilates. So I am hoping to get them back to non-hurting order here soon! That'll teach me to be lazy for a few days!

What is sockarooni sauce? Is it something you came up with? I'm going to Google it and see what I can find. Holy Moly - Do you get up at 3:45am every day?!?! How do you like JM's Shred it w/Weights? I don't have kettlebells - can you use regular weights with it? Maybe I'll see if Netflix has it to try. Hope your knees are feeling better!

Yea the shred it with weights didnt have me sweating a lot either, but level 2 is definitely better then level 1 so maybe try level 2 out with the 10lb weights? Its not one of her dvds that I would buy though, Ihad borrowed it from the library to see if I'd like it and for me it was eh.

I go back to work today too, I would LOVE to have an excuse not to go though... lol

Hopefully by next week you can start running again!

Funny, I bought some more exercise DVDs at Target yesterday (they always have them on sale the first week of the year) and looked at the one -- but I really don't like Jillian so bypassed her stuff.

I was hoping their kettlebells would be on sale (they were last year) but sadly they weren't. I have a 4 lb and a 10 lb and I really could use a heavier one (altho finding room is a different story!).

Sounds like you're off to a great new year. Oh, and I don't think the shoes will show off all that well in photos -- you won't be able to see the sparkle. Even the checkout girl was drooling over them.

Sunday

Sunday, January 02, 2011

I couldn't decide what to do exercise-wise today. My left knee was a little sore (and still is on and off). I may have tweaked it a little dancing to that game yesterday. I did end up on the elliptical for 45 minutes and then tried out a short yoga workout on demand.
I had to get all the cookies packed up because we met the family for lunner at Pizza Jack's. I had some mexican pizza (refried beans, cheese, carnitas, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos and cilantro). Very tasty. It normally comes with carne asada but we decided we wanted carnitas instead. Everybody enjoyed their cookies. We got some great stuff including a few cat toys for Malika. It was a nice afternoon.
Now it's time to get things ready for work tomorrow. I'll get my breakfast ready and my lunch so I'm ready to go.
Have a great Sunday!

New Year's Day

Sunday, January 02, 2011

I actually didn't have to fight with my brother for the elliptical this morning. He decided he'd give the treadmill a try so I did an hour on the elliptical and clocked in 5 miles. Good mileage to be able to add to the Virtual Run/Walk/Bike/Swim SF-NYC '11, Sacramento.
We went out for brunch add Southern Kitchen. I got egg whites, turkey sausage, rye toast and home fries. Brought half of it home.
We stopped at Target and checked some games for the playstation. We were hoping to find the Playstation Move so we could do some dancing games. Toys R Us is in the same mall, so the three of us headed over there. Found the Move and picked up SongStar Dance. Had to wait for the controller to charge up so my husband and I tried it out tonight. Pretty fun. We only danced...nobody wanted to sing.
I baked cookies this afternoon: oatmeal, oatmeal cranberry walnut, peanut butter. My in laws should be very happy tomorrow.
It was a nice day.
Happy New Year!

It's New Year's Eve and I Baked Cookies...Neither Are Surprises to Any of My SparkFriends

Friday, December 31, 2010

Today I decided I'd just do some circuit training and not do any elliptical. My knees were a little sore yesterday. Probably did something funny when I was running across the street to get to my hair appointment. I thought I would give them a sort of rest. I did to Bob Harper's Inside Out Method Pure Burn Super Strength. 66 minutes of fun. Watch a little Bob, lift some weights, both get the heart rate up a little. Good workout.
We had to go to the mall to pick up a movie gift card for my mother in law. We're celebrating "Christmas" on Sunday so we needed to get her present. We kept forgetting to order one online and now it was too late. Off to the mall. It was pretty damn crowded. I hadn't realized how many people went shopping on New Year's Eve. We ended up at BJ's for lunch since it was in the mall. I had a pretty good 1/2 turkey sandwich (no mayo, no cheese) and minestrone soup. A nice light-ish lunch since we will be having snacky stuff tonight.
Yes, I baked cookies. Here they are:

The popular vote was for peanut butter. I added some peanut butter chips and some Sundrops (natural M&M's). Very tasty. We've all sampled at least one. There will be lots of cardio in my future.
I think we'll have a nice little party tonight. We're trying to decide if we want to have some dinner or just have snacks. They're discussing it downstairs.
Happy New Year everyone! Stay safe. Take a cab if you need to.
I want you around next year to kick a$$!!!

Of COURSE I know those go together but it sounded weird in my head when I was thinking of the difference in texture of a peanute butter cookie vs. a chocolate chip cookie.
Wish I was there to partake in the festivities
