Its Sunday and the Rain Finally Showed Up and I Baked Cookies (big surprise)

Sunday, December 05, 2010

When I got up this morning I debated with myself about doing some yoga. I finally convinced myself that I should. I can always use some stretching and perhaps it would help my sore-ish knees. I guess all the running really is getting to them. They don't hurt while I'm running. Only after I'm done. They don't really hurt very much...just a little sore sometimes. Yesterday I put the incline at 1% to see if that would take a little stress off them. They seem less sore so maybe that's what they needed. I'll continue to do that and see how it goes.
Anyway, yoga. I did the Crunch Fat Burning Yoga and Crunch The Joy of Yoga. I prefer the Fat Burning one. It's somehow more fun even though it's the same instructor.
I tried out some Harry & David Banana Peanut Butter with my English muffin for breakfast today. Wow, that stuff is tasty. Kind of expensive so I won't be getting it very often. It was a nice treat.
Did some basic chores. We needed to stop by the bank and I realized I hadn't gotten eggs yesterday so we headed over to Safeway. There is a Panda Express there so we had lunch first. We tried to have Panda last night for dinner but it was super crowded so we walked over to the El Pollo Loco...they didn't have any white meat chicken available..bummer. We ended up at L&L Hawaiian..teriyaki chicken, brown rice and broccoli. Fairly healthy except for the salt.
Today we went to a different Panda Express and were able to have it....steamed vegetables instead of rice or chow mein, broccoli beef and string bean chicken breast. Tasty, fairly healthy except for the salt. I need to be salt free tomorrow or something.
I baked some chocolate-dipped cherry shortbread cookies this afternoon. I got the recipe from my SparkFriend Silentpawz.
Here they are before dipping:

Here they are after dipping:

The chocolate is setting but we had a taste already. Fabulous!!! As I write this, the rain is pouring down. It was supposed to rain on Friday ...nope, Saturday...not much, finally we get some today.
Have a great Sunday night and a wonderful Monday!

Enjoy your rain! It hasn't stopped here in days, I saw the sun for a few moments today and got over excited about it....

Funny how the salt is always what gets you with the take away food...

I have the same yoga DVD! Like you, I prefer the Fat Burning one, too. The only thing I dislike is how short the shivasana (sp?) is and that she reminds us to get "busy" being still. That word always throws my relaxation off! :0P So glad you enjoyed the session--hope your knees feel better after your next run!

Ditto on that! Please share the recipe!

*I'm not big into the research on this, but they say that taking tart cherry juice helps with muscle pain and inflammation..
Here's a link to an article but, please, research it yourself.

I'm so glad you tried the recipe and they came out good! I'll be making a triple batch next weekend for the cookie exchange at work. :-)

I hope the knees feel better soon. Knees are the most unforgiving joint in the human body, I think. Sometimes we just need to listen to them and ease up when they aren't happy. And I think yoga can fix almost anything...I swear by it! ;-)

I hope the soreness of the knees goes away soon. I read somewhere, can't remember where, that if you soak in warm water with Epsom salt after any workout that causes your muscles to be sore it helps to relieve the soreness. When I was doing X Bike I would come home and soak. It helped and I was less sore after each ride. Hope this helps.

I finished the second week of B210K

Saturday, December 04, 2010

I was awakened at 4:30 this morning by a kitty coming to sleep on my chest. Then she moved to my arm. Then I decided I might as well get out of bed.
So far it's been a fairly productive day. I did my run this morning. After breakfast, I started a load of laundry and did some cleaning up around the house. We went to Home Depot and then to Lowe's in search of a heat lamp housing for the bathroom. Neither of our full bathrooms have them and it would be nice. Unfortunately neither Home Depot nor Lowe's sells them. They have replacement bulbs but no way to put in the whole fixture yourself. Hmmm... I guess I'll be checking online to see where to get them.
We had lunch at one of our local taquerias. Yummy steak soft tacos. They hit the spot. Then it was off to the grocery store. When we got back I folded the laundry and finished cleaning around the house.
Lots of stuff done. Now time to relax a little bit.
I hope everybody had a great Saturday and that Sunday is a good one.

My electric company is a co-op and offers those types of products ( as well as radiant floor heating coils, CFL bulbs, Towel warmers, etc). Perhaps you have a discount through your utilities provider as well?? Otherwise, when in doubt, IKEA it out!

Friday...couldn't have come soon enough

Friday, December 03, 2010

It turned out to be a very busy afternoon yesterday and I was quite happy to get home. It's been a busy week. Probably because last week was so short.
I ended up having a CedarLane "veggie ham" & cheese wrap with some peas for dinner yesterday. Kind of weird combination but it hit the spot.
Today was a ST day so I did No More Trouble Zones using 5lbs for the biceps stuff and plank rows and 3's for the rest. I think I could probably go 5's for all next time.
It was a relaxed day at work. My boss was in meetings all morning and I had just enough to do to keep me occupied but not swamped. I left at noon (only 2 hours early) and met my BFF for lunch. It was good to see her. When I saw they had Lox and Bagel on the menu I decided I couldn't resist. Happily the cream cheese was on the side so I only put a little bit. I'm not into tons of cream cheese on my bagel. I like just enough to glue the lox down. Quite satisfying. And I had a bit of BFF's hash browns....sort of like a latke.
I previewed a few exercise DVDs this afternoon to decide what I would like to try out. Think of Bob Harper Inside Out Cardio and Strength. They look like fun but they also look pretty intense. I'll try out the shorter versions first and go from there.
I think it's supposed to rain this weekend. That's okay, I like the rain. It looks pretty cloudy out there but I haven't noticed any precipitation.
We're going out for dinner tonight. I have no idea where. I know I don't want another bagel. I guess I'll see what my husband is craving.
Have a good Friday night and a wonderful weekend!!

Have a great day everybody!!

Chanukah actually started tonight

Wednesday, December 01, 2010

I misread my calendar. I thought it started yesterday. I got to have two first nights.
I was exhausted this morning so I slept in until 4am and didn't do my circuit training.
Today was pretty busy at work but that's keeps me off the streets.
I did Jari Love Get Extremely Ripped this afternoon. Very good workout and didn't use a step. It is quite the time investment, though. From the time I started until I finished stretching it was 82 minutes. I wouldn't have had time in the morning anyway.
I was craving pasta so I made whole wheat spaghetti with turkey meatballs and Newman's Sockarooni sauce (my favorite) and some asparagus to make sure we got plenty of veggies. Quite tasty. Nothing fried today..I'm already slacking at Chanukah.
I did not have any sweets today, either. Feeling pretty good about it. I think I'll try for another day tomorrow.
I should go down and get my breakfast for tomorrow together. That way after my run, it'll be all ready for me.
Have a good night everyone.
