My Living Will

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

A friend sent this to me today. I couldn't resist sharing it with my Spark Friends. I can't relate to the wine part, but limiting my Spark time for Lent -- well, that kind of does feel like someone pulled the plug on my life machine!

Making sacrifices -- that's what Lent is about.

Hahahaaa, thank you for that. That's pretty funny. And while I hardly drink anymore, I should _definitely_ unplug from the Internet more.

Then again, without the Internet, how could I track my diet so accurately? Oh, right, paper, pencil, and book you say. Heh. How quaint.

    Yikes! Thanks for sharing, Nancy.

My mom gave up dessert (she's so silly) and I decided to give more of myself to others instead of giving up something.

Mardi Gras and Lenten Resolution

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

Happy Mardi Gras! Yeah, it's Fat Tuesday. But, that will NOT deter me from my regular eating plan. Fat Tuesday is no different than any other Tuesday. If I'm getting fat on anything today, it's getting a BIG DOSE of Spark time!

My Lenten resolution is to limit my Spark time. And that is going to be a BIG sacrifice for me! So, you will probably see less of me posting between now and Easter. Wishing everyone a blessed and holy Lenten season.

So long as you're putting your sparkin' time to good use for you!!! I'm cutting down as well, more moving my body, less exercising my fingers...

Let's change yesterday to HAPPY PHAT TUESDAY!!!

it is a sacrifice to give up Spark. i know because i have been limiting mine and i really miss all of my SparkBuddies, BUT spending less time on the computer is helping improve other areas of my life. and so small a sacrifice in comparison to the sacrifice Jesus made for us!
Have a Wonderful Lent.

Why would you limit something that is GOOD for you? I guess some time can be wasted on it, but I would suffer if I had to give it up. emoticon

But a question...will we be seeing less of you due to less posting or because of all of those walks and workouts?

I hope you have a fabulous, Fat Tuesday!!

Best wishes.....Bill

Who can I lift up today?

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

This photo reminds me of my purpose as a Sparker. When someone is new, I want to help the newbie figure this out. When someone falls down, I want to help lift you up with encouraging words.

It's not usually hard to find someone who needs an encouraging word. All I have to do is read the blogs - the blog title usually is a clue. The list of blogs designates who is writing their "1st blog", which might also indicate that person is new to SparkPeople.

Who can I help out or lift up today? I think I'll go over the the "Featured Blog Posts" to find out. Care to join me? Here's the link -

One day an encourager...and the next day needing encouragement. That is how this whole Spark thing works. So we need to stay flexible, stay available and stay connected. Then repeat.

Hope you have a great week, Nancy. Best wishes....Bill

Vday Cynic (link to a hilarious anti-Valentine blog!)

Valentine's Day not your thing? Check out this blog for a hilarious twist on this day!

Isn't it interesting how many special days have been created and how guilty we have been made to feel if we don't acknowledge Valentine's or other pre-selected occasions? I'm with Carla, tell our loved ones and friends often how much we treasure our relationship with them, even our Internet friends we may never meet. emoticon -- Lou

V-day is such a racket in my opinion. That said, I'll probably hit the store tonight in search of cheap candy! (Bad, I know, but it's only one day a year!)

CARLA0716 2/15/2011 10:36AM

I've always thought that V-Day was just Willy Wonka getting together with Mr. Hallmark and making a game of it. See who could sell the most to the poor schmucks who dole out cash to try to get someone to love them that much more.

I think Valentines Day should be every day! Why do we need a "day" to tell people we love them, and to shower them with affection?! WHY!!!! DO IT EVERY DAY!!!

K. I'm done. emoticon

Funny but sad- it pulls on my "heartstrings". I am blessed at finding my soul mate early and feel that there is one out there for everyone if fate would just put them together. I think my early negative Vday experiences (hopeful declarations of early love, dared by the Vday hoopla, followed by excruciating humiliations) made me a Vday cynic at an early age. The cynicism endures in spite of my happiness now, and I am sympathetic to anyone who feels any pain brought to the surface by this annual rite; because you don't forget that kind of pain.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday, February 14, 2011

Dear Spark Friends,

Never before have I felt such unconditional love and support from a group of people, most of whom I have never met in person! Thank you for being a part of my life, for accepting me as I am, and for gently challenging me to be more than I think I can be. Together we CAN do what we cannot do alone.

Ah, the beauty of teamwork, especially when lead by our esteem coaches. Support, caring, and a being part of something much bigger than just ourselves - the accontability factor - have been inspirational for many, if not all, of us.

Love you, Nan. emoticon to all our teammates.
