Day 97 Accountability

Monday, April 09, 2012

Easter Monday & my birthday --

Thank you for all the birthday greetings, cards, goodies, and treats! I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and an awesome support group here on Spark. Thank you for helping to make my day so special!

emoticon1 - Exercise - 25 minutes elliptical; 10 minutes stretching.
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 3.06 miles today, 31.11 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - 3,057. Birthday celebration at work today and with Harry tonight. Two glasses of wine, crab cakes, 4 cheese ravioli, Italian bread dipped in olive oil and parmesan cheese... Gosh, I'm glad birthdays are only once a year! There are more birthday luncheons and dinners with friends this week. Getting old is not for sissys!
emoticon4 - Sleep - 6+ hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - 11pm ish?
emoticon6 - Freggies - 1 fruit, 4 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - Matthew 28:8-15. The chief priests and elders gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.' And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." One lies and the others swear to it!

NEW MONTH, NEW GOALS! The old ones are working really well, so i'm just tweaking them. Following my buddy, ThinGettinOut's lead, I removed water as a goal, since I almost never miss that one.

April 2012 accountability goals --
1 - Exercise at least 30 minutes per day, 5 days a week. I had to back off of running until I get the results of my MRI in early April.
2 - I accepted a team challenge to log bicycling miles in April. My goal is 100 miles. My team mates have decided we can rack up the miles any way we can. Mine will be a combination of bicycling and elliptical.
3 - Track my food and limit my calories to less than 1800 per day. Goal weight is 145 pounds by end of May.
4 - Sleep 6+ hours per night.
5 - Stop Sparking by 10:30pm. I'm moving up my curfew by 30 minutes. I'm not getting to bed early enough to get my six hours of sleep. We'll see if this 10:30 curfew works better in April.
6 - Eat 1 fruit and 4 veggies per day.
7 - Feed my soul by reading scripture daily.

Day 95 & 96 Accountability

Sunday, April 08, 2012

Holy Saturday --

My goal was to weigh 150 pounds by Easter. I got down to 150.4 pounds before starting the Easter goodie festivities. If I'm rounding down, then I made it to 150!

emoticon1 - Exercise - Traveling; planned day of rest.
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 0 miles today, 30.05 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - guesstimating around 3,150. YIKES! Holy Saturday dinner with Harry's family. There were Reese's peanut butter eggs on the tables - I found a lot of them...
emoticon4 - Sleep - 6+ hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - 11pm ish?
emoticon6 - Freggies - 1 fruit, 4 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - Mark 16:1-7. Mary Magdalene and 2 other women go to anoint Jesus' body. When they arrive at the tomb, the stone has been rolled away. The angel tells them that Jesus has been raised from the dead and instructs them to tell the disciples. I love Mary Magdalene's courage. She is at the foot of the cross, and returns to the grave. Her love for Jesus overpowers any fear she may have of His executioners.

Easter Sunday --

emoticon1 - Exercise - Traveling; planned day of rest.
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 0 miles today, 30.05 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - guesstimating around 3,300. When I ate M&M's at breakfast, I knew it wasn't going to be a low calorie day. To top it off, I ate Cadbury dark chocolate eggs at dinner. Back on track tomorrow - oh, wait, Harry is taking me to dinner for my birthday. Back on track on Tuesday.
emoticon4 - Sleep - 6+ hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - 10:30pm.
emoticon6 - Freggies - 0 fruit, 5 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - John 20:1-9. John races Peter to Jesus' empty tomb. John arrives first, but waits and allows Peter to enter first. John saw and believed, though he did not yet understand the Scripture that He had to rise from the dead. Most of us have not seen Jesus. We have to trust in Him based on the work of the Holy Spirit in our hearts, the proclamation of the church, and the teachings that we find in Scripture. We have the accounts of the apostles' sacrifices for the church, the persecutions they endured, and even the martyrdom that many of them suffered. Would they really go through all of this just to keep a "myth" alive? Do I believe in the resurrection? YES, I DO BELIEVE!

Day 94 Accountability and Weigh-in Day

Saturday, April 07, 2012

Friday --

Today was weigh-in day with my team. I lost another pound since last week. Total for the last 4 weeks was 4.6 pounds. I also lost 1/2" off my waist, hips, and thighs and 1/4" off my arm measurement in the last 4 weeks. My goal was to weigh my driver's license (150) by Easter. I'm still 0.8 pounds from that goal. Next goal is 145 pounds by May 31 and then to maintain that weight.

emoticon1 - Exercise - 30 minutes on recumbent bike, 15 minutes stretching.
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 6.82 miles today, 30.05 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - 2060. I had a fish dinner at Boston Market and ordered sweet potato casserole as one of my sides. It had 466 calories and 77 grams of carbs! YIKES! It pays to ask for the nutrition menu in advance instead of finding that out when I'm recording my food.
emoticon4 - Sleep - 5 hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - I can't remember, I know it was late - maybe even after midnight.!
emoticon6 - Freggies - 3 fruit, 5 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - We read the Passion of Christ according to John in church tonight. Then we had veneration of the cross - a very moving ceremony where we get to kneel at the foot of the cross re-enacting those who didn't flee during Jesus' crucifixion.

I didn't know you could ask for a "nutrition menu"! When I know where I'm going I try to look it up online first. A lot of the time I think their calorie counts are low for the portion size actually served.
You are doing great! You will make your ultimate goal. Accountability is working for you!

Day 93 Accountability

Thursday, April 05, 2012

Thursday --

emoticon1 - Exercise - 30 minutes on recumbent bike, 15 minutes stretching.
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 5.36 miles today, 23.23 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - 1577.
emoticon4 - Sleep - 6 hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - midnight - ooops!
emoticon6 - Freggies - 2 fruit, 6 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - John 13:1-15. Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. Then he tells them, "I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do." In church tonight, we re-enacted the foot washing from the last supper. Harry and I washed each other's feet. Very humbling.

I saw my orthopedic doctor this evening. The good news is, I don't have torn cartilage and won't need surgery at this time. The bad news is, what little cartilage I have left in that knee is shredded, my knee cap is bone on bone to the femur, and I have a Baker's cyst on the back of my knee.

My running days are over, but I can still bike, swim, and walk! The doc is sending me for 4 weeks of physical therapy 3 times/week, then I will see him again. If I don't have some relief at that time, he gave me a pamphlet to read on gel injections and said that could be the next step. He said that PT is usually pretty helpful in situations like mine.

I have decided not to participate in the triathlon in June. I'll continue working out, but at a lesser intensity while I'm in physical therapy. There are a couple of tris in August. I'll see how things are going then. The doc said I can walk the run part of it. I'll have to live vicariously through you other runners!

NEW MONTH, NEW GOALS! The old ones are working really well, so i'm just tweaking them. Following my buddy, ThinGettinOut's lead, I removed water as a goal, since I almost never miss that one.

Day 92 Accountability

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

Wednesday --

emoticon1 - Exercise - unplanned rest day. The Fitness Center was closed due to spring break. I did a lot of walking while shopping to count for 30 minutes, though!
emoticon2 - 100 mile challenge - 0 miles today, 17.87 miles for the month.
emoticon3 - Calories - 1842. Put some raw cashews and sunflower seeds on my salad. That put me over slightly.
emoticon4 - Sleep - 5 hours.
emoticon5 - Spark curfew - 10:15pm.
emoticon6 - Freggies - 2 fruit, 6 veggies.
emoticon7 - Soul food - Matthew 26:14-25. Judas agrees to hand Jesus over for 30 pieces of silver. While this is a very sad moment in Jesus' life, it is the greatest gift God could ever give. Jesus' death has brought me life.
