Birdie story (not golf birdie)

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Well, let me tell you what happened this afternoon. My honey went to the front door to let the dog out and I saw something whiz by them into the house. When I realized it was a bird, I couldn't get into a bedroom fast enough to get away. I don't like anything that moves and I don't know which direction it is moving. emoticon. The bird went through the living room and into the breakfast room, but of course I couldn't see it because I was closed up in the bedroom. My husband is telling me to get him a beach towel from the linen closet. Did I want to come out of the BR....no.....but I couldn't leave it completely for Larry. He was being kind enough to take care of the problem. I got the towel and threw it to him and he went to the window and got the little bird in the towel and took it outside. He opened the towel and it just flew away. I would have been calling the movers to move had I been here by myself. emoticon

I can just see you now! I remember in my house when the birds just flapped their wings you would jump and they were in their cages!

watermelon

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

I love watermelon but my husband doesn't eat it. I don't mind a bit that he doesn't because I can eat the whole thing. Yesterday I cut a whole melon and put it in storage baggies in the fridge. I can just go get out a piece and eat it (usually I get a cup). I really like it. emoticon

Tired today

Monday, June 07, 2010

For me, this has been a busy day. Walked an hour this a.m., rushed home to shower to get to eye doctor appt. Before leaving for appt. I washed 2 loads of clothes and put them on lines to dry. Went grocery shopping after eye appt. Came home and had lunch. Made cole slaw, cut up a fresh pineapple and then cut up a watermelon. I always put the melon in a big bag and then I can just grab a cup at a time. Took clothes off line, folded and put away. Cooked all of our dinner on the grill. One thing that was especially good was the grilled fresh pineapple. Now I am trying to catch up on my SparkPeople, but going to bed shortly. I haven't sat down all day except to have lunch and dinner (and for eye appt.)

It is so hot!!!!

Sunday, June 06, 2010

I knew it was going to be really hot today. I woke at 4:30, went to back porch and lit a candle. I sat in the quiet and drank my coffee. The birds starting waking and chirping. I previously had read an article that the hummingbirds will eat as much as 45 minutes before dawn......and they were at the feeders to eat before daylight today. My walking partner was taking the day off today, so I decided to walk at 5:30 which I did. Had a really nice walk and did see a couple of people. I love the early morning time because it is so peaceful. Will have to see what tomorrow morning brings. LIFE IS GREAT. Nancy

The No. Va Sparkers ran a 5K today at the mall in DC for The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. They did an excellent job of raising over $2,700 for the cure. Great job ladies. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon YOU DID IT.
