Yes, the Butternut Squash soup was excellent

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

I told you I would let you know when I made the Creamy Butternut Squash Soup. I made it today and it was excellent. I gave a little to two neighbors and they both called and said it was really good. Hubby says it is a keeper. The recipe is on one of my previous blogs. I couldn't get the link to copy to blog, so I did a cut and paste. Try it.....it was delicious. Nancy

Enjoying My Morning Quiet Time

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Good morning, I got up at 4:00 this morning and I am just sitting here enjoying my quiet time and having my coffee. I have been on Facebook and doing my Sparking. I picked up my coffee cup to drink my 2nd cup and lo and behold, I just happened to look at it before I took a drink. There was a dead fly on top just floating around. YUK-KY. Yesterday, hubby swatted at a fly and the swatter broke. I guess the fly got away.......lol...and found my coffee cup this morning.

On another note: TODAY IS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY, because I am going to be HAPPY all day. My 1st GREAT grandchild (a boy, Levi Michael) is going to be born tomorrow. His dad is my #2 grandson. I am so excited about that and can hardly wait. Sunday my #1 grandson is getting married to a wonderful lady and they are so happy.

LIFE IS GREAT.

Today, remember to eat healthy, drink your water, track your food and do some exercise.

Still Getting Big Tomatoes

Monday, August 29, 2011

Well, our tomato crop is still producing BIG tomatoes even at August end. I am posting 3 tomatoes......Largest is 1 lb. 10 oz.... 2nd largest 1 lb 6 oz. The smallest one is still 1/2 lb. This photo does not show how really big they are, but compare the largest with the smallest (and the smallest is a good size). I can't believe we are still getting tomatoes this BIG this late in the season. The type is yellow Brandywine.

2nd picture...I am holding the large tomato in my hand and you can tell from my hand size that the tomato is BIG.

Wow, those are huge. I've never had the yellow tomatoes before. Do they taste different from red tomatoes? I do love tomatoes in my salads and on sandwiches.

Have a great evening!

Lainie

Yesterday

Monday, August 29, 2011

Early start yesterday. We took Mom to her new home today for her to have her 1st night stay. We moved all of her clothes and remaining things from our house. Lots of moving boxes and running back and forth. I unpacked her boxes from our house and Hubby hung things on her walls. We went to get her perishables at store and put those away. Came home, Hubby fixed dinner, I soaked in the whirlpool, watched a recorded soap, read about 10 minutes, called Mom to check on her, and went to bed. Up at 3:30 this a.m. (too early). I have already washed 2 loads of clothes and have one more. Waiting for daylight so I can hang them out. Stripped Mom's bed so have quite a few things to wash. Didn't spring clean that room because she had just moved in here end of February. Doing that this week, so all will be done. This morning we are going to Mom's early (cable man coming). then have to run a couple of errands for her. Say a prayer that she likes her new place and can stay there; she is 86 years old but doesn't want to live with anyone.

My goodness, you had a busy weekend! I was wondering why you were up so early (saw your response on my blog-thanks). I did say a prayer for your mom and your family. I work with a lot of patients in your mom's age range and they get real independent and stubborn. I hope the staff looks out for her especially since she is a new resident (high risk of falls). I pray the Lord replenish your storehouse and that you will be renewed. emoticon
