Outside in Yard again today

Thursday, June 02, 2011

I worked in the yard for 5 hours this morning. Yesterday, Hubby tilled a patch for me to plant in and I planted 13 Nandina plants.....the kind that gets berries in winter. I love them and they are so much fun to decorate with. They get large grape-like clusters of red berries and they can be used in so many decorations at Christmas. At my last house, one in particular had so many clumps of berries it looked like a Christmas tree decorated in my yard. Everyone commented on it. I also fertilized all of the potted plants as well as the plants that are planted in the ground. Also, hoed my little garden to get it weeded and fertilized it too. Some of the green beans I planted did not come up, so I replanted them too. My tomatoes are doing REALLY well. My squash plants are up and starting to grow. They will grow so fast.... I don't have much space for my garden this year, but plant to make it a little larger next year.

Remember to track your food, eat healthy, drink your water, and get some exercise.

I worked in my gardens for 4 hours Monday morning and then again 2 in the afternoon. I only wish I could do that about everyday instead of holiday's. My veggie garden is quite small as well. Next year I hope to triple the size.

Wow, Nancy, you're busy, busy, busy in your garden. Your vegetable garden sounds wonderful. I hope you didn't have the heat like we did today. It's 7 p.m. and we're still at 95 degrees. Take care and make sure you're drinking plenty of water while you're outside.

Hugs,

Lainie

More Friends Visiting

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

Today I had two more friends come to visit. They are both ladies that I grew up with. We had a nice visit. Hubby went to play golf for the evening and us ladies went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner. I ate well, I had salad bar and was very careful as to what I put on it. A salad can sometimes be more calories than a whole meal. I was good. AND I enjoyed it.

Remember to eat healthy, drink your water, exercise and BE HAPPY......

You're right Nancy...the dressings some restaurants add to the salad bar can really rack up the calories.
Glad you had time to catch up eith friends, sounds like you had a good time emoticon

Great Weekend

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Well, I had a great weekend. My long-time friend (over 50 years) came for a visit and children came for cookout. Today, Hubby went to play golf and Mom went to senior center. What did Nancy do? Changed all of the bed clothes including mattress covers and pillow protectors. Also moved mattress and box springs from one bedroom to another. Washed 5 loads of clothes (no problem). Also we went by garage door opener store to get a new opener. We ordered it and scheduled the installation and when we got home, the garage door opened like it was supposed to. That appointment got cancelled. We also went to Lowes before Hubby went to play golf. The rest of the day until everyone was home, I only "sparked" and talked on the phone. I hardly ever have a day that I don't do a lot of things. Our house is really long and I know I get a lot of steps going back and forth. I guess I did a lot of steps doing the clothes and running errands because I already have 9,981 steps.

Getting ready to fix dinner. We are having talapia, leftover potato salad, freshly sliced tomatoes, apple sauce, and cantaloupe.

Remember to track your food, eat healthy, exercise, and drink your water.

Yay, Yay..

Sunday, May 29, 2011

This weekend a life=long friend came to visit with us. We have been friends for over 50 years and have kept in touch. Yesterday, daughter-in-law called and said let's have a cookout, so they are coming over today. I love people coming to visit. So, this a.m. I am making potato salad, deviled eggs, cole slaw and a dessert. We will grill out. I am so happy to have several people here. I will make the salads as healthy as possible. The most important thing is to pick what you really want to eat and CONTROL the portions.

Have a GREAT day everyone. Do the best you can with your tracking and eat healthy.

Poor Mommy

Friday, May 27, 2011

Took Mom (86 yrs old) to eye doctor for hurting eye. Dr. came in, introduced herself and sat down to check Mom's eye. She put the table in front of Mom and touched the pedal to adjust the table to fit up to Mom. All of a sudden, the table wouldn't stop and the chair started backwards and the foot of the chair came up. The table was pressing very hard on Mom's legs and it kept pushing really hard and would not stop. Mom was screaming and crying how much it hurt and to get her out of the chair. They were pushing buttons and trying to stop the chair and table from moving. Finally it stopped and Mom was hysterical. They took her out of the chair and put her in a wheel chair. It had really scraped her legs and knees and somehow cut her arm. They brought alcohol to put on her arm and I asked for peroxide instead. I put it on cotton ball and just squeezed it onto her arm and put a band-aid on it. I had already asked for ice bags for her legs. When the ice was on for about 15 minutes, I said, Mom, we need to take the ice off for a short time and then put back onl. The Dr. looked at me and asked if I was a nurse..lol..lol... The doctor suggested we go to the hospital for an x-ray, which we did. The x-ray didn't show any fracture. Poor Mom, I felt so bad for her. The doctor called here about 6:00 to check on Mom and see if there was anything she could do. She said she doesn't know how she lifted the table off of Mom after it stopped. She said someone came into the room to check out the chair and it took 2 men to move the table back into place. I told her probably adrenalin. Mom has talked of nothing since and I surely understand. We all know she will be more sore tomorrow.

Poor Nanny...what an experience. I was shocked to read it when you emailed me! All the years I've worked in medicine and I've never seen a table or chair accident like that. Tell her hello and that I hope she's feeling better and give her a hug for me. I'm sure it scared the doctor too!
