Poor Mommy

Friday, May 27, 2011

Took Mom (86 yrs old) to eye doctor for hurting eye. Dr. came in, introduced herself and sat down to check Mom's eye. She put the table in front of Mom and touched the pedal to adjust the table to fit up to Mom. All of a sudden, the table wouldn't stop and the chair started backwards and the foot of the chair came up. The table was pressing very hard on Mom's legs and it kept pushing really hard and would not stop. Mom was screaming and crying how much it hurt and to get her out of the chair. They were pushing buttons and trying to stop the chair and table from moving. Finally it stopped and Mom was hysterical. They took her out of the chair and put her in a wheel chair. It had really scraped her legs and knees and somehow cut her arm. They brought alcohol to put on her arm and I asked for peroxide instead. I put it on cotton ball and just squeezed it onto her arm and put a band-aid on it. I had already asked for ice bags for her legs. When the ice was on for about 15 minutes, I said, Mom, we need to take the ice off for a short time and then put back onl. The Dr. looked at me and asked if I was a nurse..lol..lol... The doctor suggested we go to the hospital for an x-ray, which we did. The x-ray didn't show any fracture. Poor Mom, I felt so bad for her. The doctor called here about 6:00 to check on Mom and see if there was anything she could do. She said she doesn't know how she lifted the table off of Mom after it stopped. She said someone came into the room to check out the chair and it took 2 men to move the table back into place. I told her probably adrenalin. Mom has talked of nothing since and I surely understand. We all know she will be more sore tomorrow.

Poor Nanny...what an experience. I was shocked to read it when you emailed me! All the years I've worked in medicine and I've never seen a table or chair accident like that. Tell her hello and that I hope she's feeling better and give her a hug for me. I'm sure it scared the doctor too!

Check out this rose

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

This is not the best picture of this rose (my background on my main page is the whole bush last year), but I wanted to share this. It starts out in a bud that is tightly closed and yellow with an orange edge. As it opens, it goes into a golden color and then all golden/orange. When it finishes, it is pink. This is the way 1 rose does. It is not different colors on the bush; this is the way every rose does.

Birds are just singing away

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

I have been up for quite some time already today. I am on the 2nd load of clothes and have just about finished my spark points for the day. I woke up at 3:00 wide awake. As I sit here sparking, the birds are just singing away and have been for about an hour. Hubby is going to play golf this morning, Mom will go to the senior center. This is the first day I will be by myself for several months. That sure will be different. What to do?????? I will most likely work in the yard. I have 13 nandina plants to get in the ground, but it has to be tilled first. Hubby will do that when he gets home from golf. I used to rototill a lot, but we got a new tiller (really fancy) and I can't get it figured out. I liked the old one, just pull the rope and it would start and you just walked away with it. This one has levers and all kinds of gadgets so I just "let" (lol) Hubby do it. I just remembered, I need to cut the grass today.........I told Hubby to not put on any more fertilizer because with all of this rain, it has to be cut about every 4-5 days. Good thing I like doing it.

Have a great day.....eat healthy, track your food, exercise, drink your water, and do a little exercise.

Mystery Flowers Solved

Monday, May 23, 2011

In my blog yesterday, I spoke of some mystery flowers in a pot that were on our front porch when we returned home. I knew one of my neighbor's had had surgery and thought someone may have put the pot of flowers on the wrong porch. Hubby thought they were from the next door neighbor because she said she was going treat me for doing her flower pots for her. Well, I saw my neighbor go out to get her paper today and I asked if she were on my porch yesterday while we were gone and she smiled really big and said yes. It was a beautiful pot of miniature petunias and just absolutely gorgeous. She said she was so happy and thankful that I had done her front porch flower pots. She had about 5 big pots and I put the dirt in them and put the flowers in. She said she has gotten so many comments on them and wanted to get me something. I guess she got flowers because she know how much I love flowers.

Great Day and a BIG Surprise

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Hubby and I left this morning to go pickup Mom from my brother's. Actually he meets us 1/2 way. We went to visit friends on the way to get her that we haven't seen for quite a while. She had baked a pineapple cream pie from a Southern Living Recipe. It was delicious. I only had a sliver. On the way to their house, we stopped at a nursery and I bout 96 begonias, a new type of lilac that blooms all summer, and 2 perennial hibiscus. While at our friend's house, we dug up about 6 berry Nandina plants to bring home. We got home at 5:00 and had dinner and I went out and planted the 96 begonias. Tomorrow I hope to get the other plants done and we are going to get a trailer load of mulch to try and finish the mulching. We have to pick up the poochie in the morning from the kennel. After planting all of the begonias, I went to sit on the front porch and admire them and there was a big beautiful pot of flowers on the porch table. There was no name on them. Larry thinks the lady next door brought them over. Last week I planted her flower pots for her front porch and she said she was going to treat me. Maybe that was it. Then I remembered the lady on the other side of my neighbor had surgery the other day and I thought someone may have dropped them off for her and put them at the wrong house.....lol...lol... I will find out tomorrow and will give them back to the other person if they are hers. lol... emoticon

96 begonias, my goodness. Are you ever going to sleep good tonight. We have been getting rain since Friday afternoon. I'm ready for the sun and to dry out. But I guess there is more rainin the forecast tomorrow. At least that's what the DH is telling me.
