Mom

Well, Mom has been here with us for 3 weeks, but alas it is time for her to go home. We have not done too many things since she got here, but we did have a nice visit. We went to Walmart (her favorite store) several times and lots of my neighbors came to visit with her which she really enjoyed. Her apartment was remodeled while she was here so when she gets home, she will have a nice welcome with all new items. They put in all new kitchen and bathroom cabinets and new light fixtures throughout. I am very fortunate to still have my MOM who is 85 years old. She is in good health and gets around pretty good.

    I'm really glad Nanny enjoyed her visit! I hope she likes the new things in her apartment and doesn't try to stay up all night to put everything back in place!

emoticon to Runa5Kin2010. She went to her first spin cycle class with a friend and they both stayed for the duration. It was a hard 45 minutes and they did it. emoticon emoticon Good job ladies. Carla I am very proud of you.

Happy Middle of Holiday Weekend

Well, this is the middle day of the holiday weekend. Hope everyone is having a good time doing what they like to do best. Have fun with family and friends. Try making some healthy meal choices for the long weekend and remember portion control. To me, that is the hardest thing to do when everything tastes so good. If you do happen to eat too much, remember you have already done it, forget it and start over for the next meal.

    I have our meal all planned out. Nice lean meats were cooked in the smoker and today I am grilling pineapple, asparagus with peppers and broccoli, corn on the cobb and sweet potatoes. For breakfast I had 2 eggs with 1.5 cups of red peppers and 2 cups of spinach. It feels really good to be able to fill up on good food that is good for me!

Holiday Weekend is here

As you all know, it is a major holiday weekend. I find the biggest thing to watch for when going to all of these picnics is PORTION control. It is not easy. Eating and then getting busy doing something away from the food table helps me the most. Play some games, strike up a conversation (away from the food). IF you do eat too much, don't knock yourself over with guilt, just Start over....what is done is done......move forward. Also, drive safely and watch out for other on the road.

Yummy Breakfast

I just finished a really yummy breakfast. Into a bowl, I sliced a cup of fresh strawberries, sliced a small banana, and then put a container of Yoplait nonfat strawberries/bananas yogurt over it. It was really tasty and easy and only 243 calories. If you want s few extra calories, you could have a 100 calorie English muffin. emoticon emoticon
