Great Start of the Day

Thursday, March 31, 2011

The weather may not be so nice today, but while sitting here sparking, I am listening to the birds singing. In spite of the drizzle, they are just singing away this morning. To me, there is no better way to start the day than to sit quietly, drink my coffee and listen to the day wake up. This is my time of the day and I always get up early to make sure I have this time to myself. When the weather gets a little warmer in the mornings, I sit on the deck and "bring on the day". Life is great and I am so fortunate for my great family, friends and health.

Remember to eat healthy, track your food, exercise and drink your water. Have a great day.

Sounds like a wonderful way to welcome in a new day. We're having not so nice weather too, but the birds and squirrels are out in force today. I'm luck that I have a wonderful view outside my home office window. I've been watching the squirrels gathering up the pecans that they buried in the yard. I just saw a couple of cardinals chasing each other from tree to tree, not to mention all the robins out there as well.

Hope you have a great day! Take care!

Hugs,

Lainie

Friend Coming Today

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Good morning. I am up at 4:30 this a.m. I am really excited that a good friend from NC is coming for a visit today. She is a really good friend and I can hardly wait to see her. We are supposed to have a mix of rain/snow today, but not enough (hopefully) to cause any problems for her getting here. She is from Wisconsin and knows how to drive in that kind of weather. I have already washed and dried a load of clothes and I have a Swedish Apple Cake in the oven. This cake is so good, but I will only have a skinny slice and will count the points. My friend is only stopping by for a short time because she is on her way to take a trip with another friend. She still will have 2 1/2 hrs. to get to the other friend. It is out of her way to come by here but she is doing it so we can have a visit. I am so fortunate to have so many good friends in my life. LIFE IS GREAT

Sunny Today

Monday, March 28, 2011

I am so happy the sun is out today. The temps are only 48, but the sun is shining. I took Mom for a little walk around the circle and up the street a block and back. She is 86 and has been sick, but is getting better. She is getting stronger and I know the walking will help.

Yes, its sunny here too, but chilly. I will be glad when the temps warm up a little. Of course, it won't be too long before I'll be complaining about how hot it is, lol. That is great that your mother is getting better!

Spring Sprung and Winter is Going to Fall on Top of it.

Friday, March 25, 2011

I have written in my blogs the past couple of weeks how nice the weather is and all of the work we have done in the yard. I have trimmed trees, dug up and transplanted 14 bushes, took up 2 patches of day lilies and made 22 plants from the two. We have fertilized, mowed the lawn and put out some of the furniture that was stored for winter. NOW, the weatherbug tells me that we have a potential of 5 inches of SNOW starting Saturday evening into Sunday. WOW, can hardly believe it would be that much with it being the end of March. I am sure it won't stick around long though, but now that I think of it, the temps are going to be in the 20's, so it might just hang around. Good thing I like snow. I like spring better, but what the heck.

Wow, Nancy, I sure hope your hard work won't be ruined by the snow. Hopefully, it won't last long.

Hope you have a great weekend! Take care!

Yard Work

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

emoticonYesterday I worked in the yard again. I love working in the yard. I trimmed the lower branches off of a tree so when we ride the mower we don't chop our head off. I then cut them all into shorter pieces and put twine around. I should have done it the day before because that is the day the trash man came. Oh well, they will be ready for next week's pick-up. Since we moved, we hadn't put up the rain gauge because of so much freezing weather. Well, now it is up, just in time for the rain we are supposed to get each day this week.

Eat healthy, drink your water, exercise, and track your food. AND Have a emoticon day

I'm looking forward to getting out in the yard too. We are getting a cold front and maybe snow flurries for the weekend! I hope it doesn't kill all the beautiful trees and flowers in bloom! It's great exercise and good for the mind, body and spirit to work in yard! emoticon
