Messed Up

Friday, November 19, 2010

It is so hard to call on the phone in today's time and get something straight. I called one business 5 times recently (3 of those calls today) and I got a different answer each time. This was something that was really important and could really cause a huge problem if not done correctly. The last person I spoke with told me it would be better to do NOTHING until we actually get moved. She straightened out the messes the previous persons did. Not many people do their jobs today. I am used to be very detailed and getting things done. It used to be you could call on phone and it would be done immediately. Not any more. I told my daughter I feel really bad for her and my grandchildren to live in times ahead that seems most people don't do their jobs. I truly am glad I am the age I am. When I told one of our employees that is was upsetting to keep calling to get things right, he said "you just get used to it and you keep calling until it is done". How sad is that.????????

I hear you Nancy. Lack of training, an "I don't care" attitude, whatever happened to taking pride in "a job well done" Times have certainly changed.

The 'I could care less' attitude come in part I believe from people only being part time, not paid all that great, no sick time, no paid holidays & no paid vacations. When employers don't want to pay the price to have loyal dedicated employees so they can save a few bucks they get what they pay for. Employees who don't do a very good job at all and really don't care.
Sorry you had to go through all of that!!!!!

I agree. You finally get someone sometimes who seems to know what they are talking about and promise it will be fixed and then you find out it still isn't!

It is very sad, I agree, I have had 2 cable companies that I swear I think were trying to give me a heart attack, and they kept saying oh we'll fix it, Ha!

I am a Proud Mama

Sunday, November 14, 2010

I want all of you to know how proud I am of my daughter (RUNA5K2010). Yesterday she ran in the Redskin NFL teams 5K race. She did her best time for races and I am so proud of her. Her daughter, Meghan was with her as well as several friends. She posted a blog with lots of photos (check it out on her SP page). The photos were really nice. One was of her with the oldest Redskin fan (Chief Z). She has run in several races and really enjoys it. When I move to VA (16 days) I hope to be go with her and participate in some of the races too. She is doing the "Turkey Trot" on Thanksgiving. Yea, CARLA. I am so proud of you........Love you, Mom

Another Going Away

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Yesterday I talked about my neighborhood friends giving me a going away party which was wonderful. Now I want to tell you about Thursday night. I started a Bunko group in our neighborhood 4 years ago. We (12 members) play one time a month at different members houses. It is really a silly, no thinking game and most people say for "old" ladies. We have so much fund and all you have to do if throw the dice and laugh. We have a snack halfway through. Well, when snack time came, the hostess brought out a gift bag for me. It was a whole new Bunko game with hole punchers (for scoring on cards). She said they were all so happy I started the group and they wanted to make sure I kept playing when I moved, so they got me all of the things I need to start a "new" group. I have so many good friends.

What Wonderful Friends

Friday, November 12, 2010

We are moving in less than 3 weeks back to VA. We are in a very large community and we have made so many friends while we have been here. My good friend decided to have a going away tea/reception party for a farewell to me. I was so excited, but it is really hard to say goodbye to all of the people we have met and become so fond of. She told me to be there 15 min. before everyone. She had designed the cake that was made for me and there was so........much food (but I didn't overeat). People kept coming in and in all total there were between 35 and 40. I haven't counted yet because I have just been too busy. They had a present for me too and many cards. The going away present was so nice. It was a picture of the largest lake here in our community (we have 7). The lake had the steam rising and was absolutely beautiful. It had a very nice matting around it and everyone at the party had signed it. Such a thoughtful present to me and to remind me of my friends here. I will always treasure it as I will their friendship.

What a day (Only a small portion)

Thursday, November 11, 2010

This has been a bad week, but I will only tell about my internet now. Yesterday I called our phone company to have our phone and internet canceled on Dec. 2 because of our moving to VA. In the afternoon, I had no internet. Didn't have time to try figuring it out until after dinner. I kept doing all kinds of checks and couldn't find out what was wrong. I called trouble shooting and they said I had been disconnected....but only the internet, the telephone was still connected. their error. They would get me back up within 15 min. WRONG, I called and the business office was closed and told I would have to wait until 7:00 a.m. this morning. I called and was told that dept. didn't open until 8:00. There was no record of my first call on my record at all. I talked to 6 people (won't go into each of those conversations which were very dumb). Finally the last person says the program that would let them reinstall my internet was down and she had a note to connect me as soon as it was back up. I told the lady I had been with them for 5 years and that I deserved more respect than they were giving me with all of the jerking around I had gotten and talking to so many people. I asked for a refund for the 2 days and she said she would give me a $10. credit. Want to bet that it will be a charge of $10. on my next bill instead of a credit. We will see. I went to visit my dear little 2-year old friend and when I returned, I had internet.

Such a little petty thing but I have had so many petty things this week. I am weary. I have looked for the positive (as I always do) and I found it. Yay.

Glad you are up and running again.

It is frustrating dealing with most places, I hate to even make the phone call cause I know it's nothing but the run around.

So glad you're back up. I know you normally have great service with them and I hope whoever you get when you move here will be the same. Like I said, I've had Comcast for 13 years now and have only had rare problems which they readily corrected. Don't know if you can get them for just internet though since you don't need the cable or phone.

Hope the end of your week is better than the 1st part!
