Update on appliances

Sunday, August 15, 2010

So many of you commented on my blog yesterday regarding "oiled bronze appliances". At the present time Jennair is the only company that has that color. It came out in 2008 but didn't really catch on. Yesterday we went to an very large appliance center in Raleigh, NC. They had on display a wall oven in that color. However, Jennair is coming out with a "new" oiled bronze this year that is slightly different from the previous. It kind of looks like a wood grain bronze and is a slightly darker color. I am thinking that it might do the trick. AND, GE has a new color called Champagne that I really like. The problem with that is, it only comes in a washer/dryer. I guess they bring it out in w/d because then if people like it, they can bring the color into all of their appliances without wasting money on complete kitchens of appliances if no one likes the color. I would definitely go with the champagne if I could get it in all appliances. I have checked with centers and they say nothing coming in the next year except White, Stainless, and black. I guess I am back where I started.

Did you like it as much after you actually saw it in person?

At least Jennair is coming out with what you can use soon. GE seems to be more of an uncertain thing. But by the time you are ready,GE may also have what you want. Good luck! emoticon

Has anyone seen the appliance color "oiled bronze". I know Jennair makes it, but have been having a hard time finding it. It is like the stainless steel color but not "gray", it is a bronze color kind of like copper. We will be replacing appliances in our new house when we move, and I am not that crazy about white, black, or stainless steel.

well I would really be interested in seeing this.. I'm with you I'm not a fan of stainless steel.. how can they even call it that when its a pain to keep looking nice.. try Sears, Lowes, Homedepot. and maybe any local home improvment stores in your area.. It would really be worth finding and comparing the prices..

Back from Al's

Friday, August 13, 2010

Yesterday, I wrote that we were going to Al's. That is my brother in VA. It was a really quick trip because all we did was take a poker table to him that we aren't moving to our new home. He fixed us a delicious dinner.......seafood had sausage, corn, baby potatoes, tiger shrimp, king crab legs, and lobster tails. It was so good. I had a little of all of it, but not too much. He is an excellent cook and loves to do it. We got up early this morning and headed home. WE are both really tires because it was a six hour drive yesterday and then again today. I love my brother, but am glad to be back home. I really like being home and prefer not to travel anywhere.

So Ironic

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Today our Pound-A-Thon challenge was to do exercises during the commercials as we watched tv. I wrote on the message board that I hardly watch much tv and what I watch, I DVR and skip through the commercials. It is IRONIC what happened today. I was asked to watch a neighborhood toddler that I watch when parents have to run an errand. The one soap I watch came on while I was there. She went down for her nap at the time the show came on, so I watched the show and did the exercises during the commercials. I diidn't know she was having a nap today!! How often would that happen?
It must have been meant to be.

Didn't that turn out great? Sometimes life throws us a freebie. Now I've got to go find some show to watch & exercise.

Yesterday, hubby decided to get rid of a few more things before our actual move in December. I decided to empty out some file cabinets. I cleaned old files from two cabinets. He was nice enough to tear off our names/address and to shred those. Then I went through files looking for some info I need for the accountant to collect money that someone owes us. I did find it and have to get it together for her. I also polished furniture, Larry vacuumed, I mopped the ceramic floors and cleaned 2 bathrooms. Also had done my walk early a.m. 4.10 miles and worked in garden for a little while. I was a busy person; no wonder I was so tired last night. Had a really good night sleep, but I am very fortunate because I always sleep good. Have a great day.
