Yea, Carla is here

Friday, July 23, 2010

Well, I am so happy today. My daughter Carla (RUNA5K2010) came this weekend for a visit. Along with her was my granddaughter Meghan (BD is today 15 yrs old), Aaron # 2 son and his wife Amber. They left home at 4:30 a.m. this morning and got here at 9:00. We haven't done much today except visit and run to Walmart. It is so hot outside we have just stayed in but we are having a nice visit. We are all pretty tired now and going to bed as soon as Carla and I finish our SP things for today. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Rootin for Ruby Team is the Best

Thursday, July 22, 2010

This Rootin for Ruby Team seems to have the most members that participate in just about everything. We are in a Christmas in July challenge now and it really is a lot of fun. We are losing weight to give our pounds to Skinny Santa. We play games and have team challenges each day where we post on team members SP page to do the challenge or write on the "thread" itself for the challenge. There are word games and puzzles we do. It is just a great and fun team. The Ruby support group is always ready, willing and able to give just that. If you need to vent, we are there, need to cry on a shoulder we are there. There is lots of advice given and happily received. If someone is having an "eat everything" attack and asked for help, we make suggestions. We have so many challenges and games that are fun to do. If you want to really have a fun team and be involved, just join us at the Rootin' for Ruby Team. I guess I got a little carried away. This was supposed to be about the Christmas in July challenge, but I made it about the Ruby team too. I am so proud and happy to be on this team because it is just the GREATEST.

I love you think you got carried away... I'm just lucky that we aren't limited to a certain amount of words in our blogs.. I would of had to have several pages... I'm just long winded I guess... I also love what you have to say about our team.. I'm sure we are the best team on SP.

Really tired tonight.

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

I am a very early to bed person and the past week, I have been staying up a little later and then sleeping a little later, but somehow it has caught up with me. I usually sit for about an hour (my quiet time) when I first get up to just relax, drink my coffee, and listen to the birds and watch the wildlife in my backyard. With this staying up later and sleeping later, I don't have time for this hour of relaxing when I awaken. Tonight I am so tired, I can hardly hold my eyes open. It is only 8:00, but I am for slumberland in about 5 minutes. Tomorrow a.m. I will have my quiet time before I go for my walk. Good night all.

We sure are opposite here! I always stay up really late and I love to sleep in. Too bad I have a job, LOL. Only kidding, I'm very thankful to have a job, I just like to sleep :-)

I also go to bed early most nights. But sometimes I have a hard time getting to sleep no matter how tired I am. Too bad there isn't an on/off switch on our mind.

I 'm just like you in this way. I enjoy having time to myself in the morning before everyone wakes up but I have been staying up too late. I ended up taking a long nap tonight. I just got up at 8:30! That's pm! I'm going to try to get my schedule back on track by getting up earlier tomorrow. I hope you have your peaceful morning tomorrow. emoticon

Skinny Santa Poem

Monday, July 19, 2010

This poem I wrote for our Rootin' for Ruby Skinny Santa Team

Skinny Santa, Skinny Santa
Your suits are too big for you.
We are losing pounds to donate
Because that's what we must do.

We are eating right and doing exercise
and drinking water too
We want to give you all our pounds
Because that's what we must do.

When Christmas comes, you will get our pounds
and try on your red suits.
You will look in the mirror and you will think
All I need are my black boots.

You will thank "Rootin' for Ruby" gals
Because we are so sweet.
We worked really hard to lose the weight
and you got what we didn't eat!

I love it! But I can't help but wonder - what if someone tried to give us back the weight we have lost? I would shoot first and ask questions later.

fruit/veggie shopping

Sunday, July 18, 2010

When I do my fruit and veggie shopping, I come home, wash items to make ready to eat and then put in fridge. Like grapes, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, & all melon fruits, I cut in bite size pieces and put in a baggie in fridge, so I have a healthy snack at hand without doing anything besides grabbing the bag and putting some in a bowl. This makes me less likely to grab something not so healthy because of it being easier. Some berries it is better not to wash until just ready to eat, but I usually wash them and have ready also.

I do that also. And with grapes, I freeze them on a cookie sheet and then bag them in 100 calorie increments. Love em!!

I do the same thing and it's amazing how much more I grab the healthy snack than junk. When I want a snack I don't want to have to prepare it, I want to grab it. Lol

PINKNFITCARLA 7/18/2010 10:01AM

It's always better to get all that prep done. You're right, much easier to grab and go. Good job!
