Today is the day

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

Well today is the day. The day that I start a new medicine for my Diabetes. This one is a non-insulin injection that causes nausea and headaches. YAY!!! (can't you just feel the sarcasem??) In any event it is supposed to help me process things a little bit better and hopefully get my blood sugars under control. One interesting side effect is weight loss. YAY!!! (that is real joy this time emoticon )> Well here goes nothing! I will keep you posted emoticon

Today is a new day sorta. I have recently been told that my diabetes may be Type 1 and not Type 2. I wore a monitor for 5 days before the holidays and today is the day to get those results. It has been such an emotional rollercoaster. If it's Type 1 and not 2 then my dr's comment that it's all "due to the weight" was totally incorrect. It was never my fault either way. I am scared to find out but can't wait either. Frustrating! I just want to feel normal. Not exhausted all of the time! Wish me luck!!!

Well here I am again. I'm putting one foot in front of the other and trying. I tracked everything so far today and I am nailing the carbs. The calories not so much. It's either one or the other it seems like. My dr upped my insulin yesterday. I am really hoping this helps along with tightening up my diet. I feel so sluggish. When my sugars run high I just feel bleh. Hopefully by increasing my meds and putting one foot in front of the other my sugars will regulate and my energy return! emoticon

Give your body time to adjust to the changes but don't give up - no matter what happens. You are worthy of having a healthy fit body. Your moods will elevate once your body is functioning better.

back at it

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Well here it is October and I'm back at it! I have been gone since June just being lazy and busy with life. You know sometimes life just gets in the way of our best intentions. I am back because my sugar has gone kinda wonky lately. I was sick with a bad cold a few weeks ago and I just can't seem to get it under control now. I am expecting that dreaded call from the dr to up my insulin dosage again :( Today as I was working out before work I decided that I needed to get back on here and get back to basics. I. NEED. TO. TRACK!! NO exceptions. I grabbed some left overs this morning for breakfast thinking it wasn't so bad. UGH! Boy was I wrong. Very enlightening. I am frustrated on one hand but hopeful on the other. I just gotta GET BACK AT IT!

Tracking provides knowledge and that's POWER! The tracking, especially before we eat, allows us to make informed decisions and take the appropriate actions. Sum up a few appropriate actions in a row and you've got success.

Glad to have you back with the team!

This journey with weight loss and Type 2 Diabetes has made me think of the term "keep on truckin". Learning to deal with Diabetes has made me change so much of my life. Not just my diet but habits. I have had to do some motivational re-vamping and pantry cleaning. I have learned that it is not just about loosing weight but improving my overall health. Loosing the weight is just the added bonus to all of this and since going on insulin that has been a huge battle.
As a Diabetic I have to have labs and doctor visits a few times a year. I have gone from having an A1C in January of 8.9 to 6.7 today along with lower blood pressure and cholesterol :) "What's different?" my doctor asked me. Well I have really tried to revamp my habits. I have really gotten into Spark People. I try and log in several times a week if not a day. I have been trying to poke around the message boards and blogs to get inspired by others. I found that the eating plan really works. I am not perfect with it. I substitute and I have my cheats but I have really tried to have that as my go to every day. Exercise is my new habit. One I hope to never break. I have had set backs and roadblocks and victories but thru it all I just have to "keep on truckin". emoticon
