Day 3- 100 days of 5 daily goals

Thursday, May 19, 2011

I have a paper copy of my goals with 100 small squares to check off for each day that I accomplish each goal. It is fun to see the boxes being filled in. I am accomplishing something! emoticon

Fitness
Today I sat on the recumbent bike for 60 minutes, or 12 miles, or 300 calories burned. emoticon
The thing that makes me the most excited is when I log the miles onto the mileage tracker. As you know I am going on a virtual bike ride across Utah from the North to the South. Yesterday's ride brought me to Ogden. emoticon

Water
That was easy, two 32 ounce mugs. One in the morning one in the evening. emoticon

Calories
967 calories, a little low, but I still feel it is an accomplishment, because I made sure that I had protein every time I ate, and I was not hungry at all. emoticon

Magic Minimum
Not only did I do the minimum, but I got some vacuuming in also. That house looks great. emoticon

Daily Service
What to do, what to do? I am busy and I don't have a lot of time. First thing in the morning I checked my facebook account and I learned the daughter of a friend of mine lost a baby yesterday. As I sat on the recumbent bike, the answer came to me. Since I have lost two grandbabies, I would write a small note to my friend and let her know that I am thinking of her. So that was my daily service today.

emoticon I am feeling great and motivated to keep going

Progress not perfection is now my motto. I have had a hard time with that in the past.

Good job. I think it is about making calorie choices you can live with more than being "perfect" in choices. emoticon

I would count both the Visiting Teaching and the indexing. You may have really helped someone in a way that will be measured in the eternities. Good job. It is great that you are doing it.

Don't put impossible rules on your service.

I need to start indexing. I haven't tried that yet. Make it a great day.

A Woo Hoo for today

Monday, May 16, 2011

I have to share one of my Woo Hoo moments. I have really been trying to bicycle every single day. On the days when I have a little more time I am trying to bicycle for 60 minutes. Yes that is one whole hour. That equates to having burned 300 calories and going 12 miles. On the days when my schedule goes crazy I sit on the bike and cycle like crazy for 5k which I can do in about 12.2 minutes

Last Monday I decided that I would start tracking my miles on the days I cycle for an hour. I decided since I live in Utah would do a virtual cycle from one end of the state to another. I would start on the Utah Idaho board and cycle to the Utah Arizona boarder about 400 miles down I-15. Since last Monday I have cycled clear through Box Elder County and I am now in Farr West in Weber county. Amazing.

Good for you. You may want to try exercise.lbl.gov also to track yourself across the US. It is great fun and as you log in every day, you can see where you are "camping" every day. I love it and with biking the miles really add up quickly.

Well, now that is a great goal and when you get so good at that you can just peddle on down to Eagar Arizona and I will fix us a lunch you won't forget. LOL

All kidding aside, YOU ARE DOING GREAT! I wish I could say the same where my exercising is concerned. I AM FINALLY getting well from the year of ill health and I am praying for the gifts of determination, courage and stamina to begin my own exercise program.

One hundred days of five daily goals

Monday, May 16, 2011

I am starting a new commitment to myself of doing 100 days of accomplishing 5 daily goals.

My goals will include:

Daily fitness- on days when my schedule is hectic I will sit on my bike and race a 5k trying to beat my previous time. On days when I have more time I will try for a longer ride or walk or both. Either way my goal is for some type of daily fitness

Water
I have a 32 ounce mug. I will fill the mug once in the morning and again in the evening and drink it. Once those two mugs are drunk Wha La, I have drunk my 64 ounces of water for the day. I learned that easy little trick reading secrets for success. Thank you

Stay within calorie range.
My calorie range is 1200 to 1500 calories per day.
I have broken that down to having a 300 calorie breakfast, 300 calorie lunch, 500 calorie dinner and two to three snacks at 100 calories a piece

Magic Minimum
Sometimes when I have a busy schedule it is hard to keep the housework up. The magic minimum is the minimum you do to keep the house looking presentable- not perfect, but presentable. That includes, making my bed, doing dishes and wiping off counter-topss, pick-up, and swishing and swiping the bathroom

Finally a daily service of some kind of another

To keep myself accountable I am going to come and report back daily on my goals. Knowing that there are some days when I am not always around a computer, I will still keep track of my goals on paper, and report back as often as I can.

Wish me luck I start today
