Whew! Escaped a gain at yesterday's weigh-in with a very Squeaky Turtle. Expected better, but had a few late evening extras and lunch out on Wednesday. Back to it today, journaling, working outside, even a little house cleaning, not one of my favorite things. Next Thursday hope to have that scale arm hitting the bottom with some force.

Two months since I've blogged, can hardly believe it's time to start thinking about July goals. Have a couple of pounds off, but progress is slow. The support of my small weight loss group helps a lot, and the past two weeks I have returned to honest journaling and it seems to be helping. I reach a point where I think I have all the information in my mind and I'll just "do it", but revert to old habits at the end of the day. The only change in my journaling from before is to track mood at each meal and snack as well as food. The new dog keeps my step count up, that probably doesn't hurt either. My immediate goal is to show at least a small loss on Thursday, which will make 3 consecutive losing weeks.

I am doing a pretty good job of maintaining the same pound. I lose 3/4 one week, gain it back the next. Pretty much at the same place on the scale that I was in February. It is not a mystery. I'm eating too much too often. Temps have only been in high 20s and low 30s the past few days, so being outside not really comfortable. Have been grabbing food out of frustration and boredom. So back to journaling (I have been lax) and measuring tools. When Spring finally does arrive I don't want to freak out when the jackets and sweaters come off!

The lingering winter has been hard on my weight loss effort. My little record book shows no forward progress in March, just treading water so to speak. The view out the window is a little better today. Still piles of snow, but more and more brown grass showing each day. Also taking over the care of an adult dog, can notice the increase in my daily stepping totals already. The dog needs to practice portion control as do I, so that will be a major goal for April along with remembering to drink my water. (She has no problem with that). Need to get those numbers in the record book going the right direction!

At weigh-in yesterday was down another 1.25 pounds, making a total of 3.25 for the month of January. Unfortunately this was another time around for these pounds as I had put them on over the holiday period. Revved up to continue progress in February so that I arrive at my new goal of 149.something by month's end. My Fitbit exercise goal for the month was to walk 150 miles and I achieved that on the 27th.
For February I am resolved to continue weekly attendance at my small weight loss group, add 140 miles to my stepping total and continue daily food tracking. This last component seems to be necessary. If I don't do it, I don't lose. And, of course, continue to try and not let the severity of this northern Michigan winter get me down.
