My gratitude list:

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Emmasmart commented to a msg board post about how to get out of an emotional funk with a suggestion to create a list of all the things you're greatful for to review when you're feeling down. I feel that I need this type of reflection so I'm making my list here:

1. My hubby. He loves me always.
2. My job, sure I'd rather be rich and not have to work, but I do enjoy my job.
3. Our Kitty babies. I love them, even when they do things that make me angry.
4. Volunteering - I really enjoy it and feel like I'm doing good for the kitties.
5. My health, it's not perfect, but I no longer have 90% of health problems I had before my surgery.
6. My friends. Especially some special ones I left back in TX.
7. I can walk a mile in 21 minutes and not feel like I'm dying.
8. I was able to particiapate in the Komen Race for the Cure and walk the whole 5k in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
9. I can wear size 12 tops and size 12/14 bottoms.
10. I can find all kinds of fun silver rings that fit my fingers.
11. I can fit into any chair anywhere, Dr's offices, restaurants, stadiums, theaters, busses, trains, anwhere!
12. I can do a 1/2 of yoga and not need a nap afterwards.

This blog post is probably going to be at the top for a while because I plan to keep adding to it as I think of more things I am greatful for.

Good idea! It helps when you put things in perspective this way so instead of focusing on all the negatives in your life, you think about the good things. I'm proud of you!

Dear Friends and Family,

I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure on May 10, 2008 in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Atlanta Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in the community and support the national search for a cure.

Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of my
participation in the Race or contributing generously to Komen Atlanta. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in Atlanta and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Thank you so much for your time and support in the fight against breast cancer! Every step counts!

Donations can be made online by clicking the link below or sent by mail to:
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta

On Tuesday I weighed in at 178! That's over 100lbs gone since my surgery! I'm so excited to have made this goal.

Now onto my next weightloss goal, get to 150lbs by 7/27/08, and maintain within5lbs!

The scale has a death wish.

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

I weighed in this morning like I do every Tuesday and was hoping to be at my first big weightloss goal. I want to have lost 100lbs since my surgery. That means I need to be at 181. For the last 2 weeks I've been stuck at 184, 3lbs to the goal. It's been frustrating, but I was working hard to eat healthy and following the WLS rules and I knew I'd reach the goal soon. This morning I weighed in at 182. One hundred eighty freakin' two! Just one more stupid pound to go. Stupid scale. Grr!

Oh my gosh!! Nearly 100 pounds! That's fantastic. You should be really proud of yourself! Don't get sidetracked by a date woman, you are doing great! The weight will come off. It didn't know you had a specific date in mind :) You've worked so hard to get this far, just stick with it, you'll get there! Congratulations too:)

LOLOLOL!! I'm sorry, but your subject line had me cracking up here! :)'ve lost almost 100 freakin pounds!! Quit beating yourself up over a number on a scale and start doing a happy dance - woo hooooo!

I know the scale numbers can be frustrating - but they are just numbers. Are you working out, adding muscle weight?
How do you feel? How are you clothes fitting you?

When I weigh in - everything comes, hair clips, clothes, lol....hey, every little ounce counts, right? :)

Seriously - congrats on your weight loss - that is awesome!

Have a great rest of the week and take care.

You will get there ...... really! My sister did but experienced that hovering just above that milestone for about a month. Then she hit the mark and began to loose more and is now nearly at goal in a year's time.

My personal challenge for March

Monday, March 03, 2008

This month I plan on keeping my calories below 1200 a day, every day. I feel like food is trying to control me again. I'm craving junk and snacking when I'm not even hungry. I will drink more fluids if I feel hungry and it is not time for my snack. I will have good snack options for my 2 allowed snack times a day such as beef jerky and carbmaster yogurt. I will stay OUT of the candy DRAWER at work. I will make healthy choices for food when we go out and keep my portions in check.
