That in-between stage

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

OMG, what a high buster to go to the mall, grab some clothes in the size I use to wear to find out that they are too big, well yes that is great, but then to get the next one or two sizes down then to get frustrated because they do not fit right. I tried on nice summery dresses for it either to be too big in the back and tight across the center OR too big in the chest and under arms and matronly in the rear and/or stomach. I went through several stores over this past weekend to only find 1 summery dress that had asymmetrical design with a gathered waist that looked somewhat descent. I was so tired and depressed after 3 days of shopping to only find 1 dress. Well, all in in all I guess its the price you have to pay to get back to healthy and fit; being in that awkward in between size stage. I had to tell myself, it will get better, don't give up but honestly it was hard to motivate myself without turning to food like I have done so many times before. I DIDN'T GIVE IN emoticon
Any others out experience this awkward in between size stage? How did you handle it? emoticon

I find that clothes just sometimes don't fit. Nothing is made exactly the same size (even though it has the same number on the tag!) so unfortunately, you just have to keep trying.

And we all have our problem areas that are hard to fit. My thighs are bigger proportionally than my waist is, at least according to "normal" sizing standards, so buying jeans is really tough for me. So yes, I can totally sympathize with you, at all times, not just when I'm losing weight! I know its tough not to get frustrated, but just know that we're all in the same boat.

two choices depending on how quick you are losing:

1. Buy the bigger size and have it altered at the local cleaners to fit PERFECTLY!

2. Wait two weeks and then go buy the one that fits correctly!

Day 1 with my Personal Trainer

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Wow, what a kick in the workout today. My girlfriend and me started our workout with a personal trainer and I sweat more in that hour or joint workout than I do in my singular cardio workouts. It was awesome. Our plan is to use him for 1 day a week for a month, BUT we, or I should say, I will continue my strength training on my own the other odd two days. I am more motivated than my girlfriend, she is still a newbie and I don't let her lack of motivation hold me back, I just hope that she keeps us the joint workout with the trainer because it is a substantial discount in the price, but I am preparing to go it alone if I have too. So today was an awesome day.

Where Am I so far

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

I started out with such a bang and had so many mini goals to hit then when I reviewed them I realized they have been lofty. But one thing for sure they were there staring right back at me pushing me along. So far I have learned that this all takes time, this weight did not come on me over night and it will not be off in a few weeks.

Since joining SP I have seen so many success stories and I too want to be one, but I have to say I feel it daily whenever I hit the gym and have a good workout. I have learned to crave the sweat and exhaustion I have after a good good workout. I am also starting to see definition in my arms and feel the lean muscle and best of all, my stomach is going down. I was initially feeling it in my clothes but now I can actually see it in the mirror. But the truth be told I am deathly afraid of the sag that can come with too much weight loss too fast. I have been in a plateau for the last 4 to 6 weeks, either maintaining the same weight or gaining a pound or losing that same pound that I gained. With that in mind I have been really focusing on loosing up to 2 lbs a week and do more reps than weights in the gym. I am hoping this will be a big sag buster especially in my inner thighs and stomach, I just started on a 4 week personal challenge to see if that makes any difference, I hope so.
Tomorrow, a girlfriend and I will meet with a personal fitness trainer, now my friend may fall out but she is willing to do it with me because she knows how serious I am, I am hoping that I gain some pointers in how to improve my workouts and design a fitness program that will give the results I am looking for. We will see.
I am also trying to adjust my lifestyle where life revolves around my activities to keep me centered, relaxed and focused on the simple things. I am trying out different activities and sports that I want to enjoy during this second half of my life. For my anniversary at work I accepted the gift of golf clubs, they should be here within the next few weeks and that same girlfriend of mine, well we are going to start golfing, she already golfs and has talked to me about it for years so now I think I am ready to try it.
Well, this is where I am so far, to sum it up. I have accomplished the food thing: consistency--yeah
Next the workouts have been erratic but I have averaged 3 days a week I want to up that to 4 or 5 with consistency being the key.
Finally, I have learned that it is all a process in make a lifestyle change.
I believe I will make the change for good.

Boot-Camp

Friday, April 27, 2012

I tried the Boot-camp class at 24hour fitness, wow what a workout. This may be it to hit my thighs and stomach. This may be what I need to push me over the edge in the toning and weight loss.

Day 1 of 30 Day Shred

Monday, February 27, 2012

Ok, got in two good workouts today and I feel good. Did my regular morning workout in the gym then this afternoon did Day 1 of 30 Day Shred. This is definitely going to be a challenge for me because I have so many little ailments, i.e. my knees. But, I am not going to let that put me out of the game, I am going to put on the knee brace and work it!! Or, just do a modified version or whatever it takes to get through it.
