I’ve never been a huge Nick Minaj fan (I think she’s beautiful and has a killer body, but just not my thing). Now I LOVESSSS me some DRAKE….I have two teenagers, so I have become acquainted with songs that I normally would not listen to. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m a dancer…I’m the friend who leaves their handbag with you all night at the club, because I am on the floor. A funky beat will get me going every time, but as a Christian I realize the importance of the lyrics and what I am taking into my spirit. So if I like the song, I Google the lyrics.
Moment for life, the more I listen the song the more I started thinking about life and how precious it really is. We are often told not to “live in the moment”, but what else do you have. The bible tells us in Matthew 6:34 - Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof. So that tells me maybe Nicki and Drake are really on to something… There is one particular verse that I could not shake – “Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.”
I have been blessed to do a lot of traveling since my divorce in 09 but, with every trip, I am faced with our vulnerability as humans and just how quickly life can be taken from us. Just coming back from Spring Break last week, I drove past two fatalities...Those people thought they had tomorrow…No man knows the day nor the hour that his life will be required of him…So I took from that to start LIVING!! Not planning to live, not preparing to live, but living right now…This is my moment!!!!
