THE UPPER ROOM: Rely on God!

Wednesday, June 05, 2013

emoticon emoticon emoticon
We are told to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Esphesian 6:10. We walk and war in HIS strength. this requires humility and total dependence upon God. We are not confident to our own strength. We cannot allow pride to open the door for destruction. The Lord is a man of war (Exodus 15:3) He will fight our battles. We depend upon His power and direction. We depend upon His Word and His Spirit. I cannot overemphasize the need for humanity. God give grace to the humble....
The Lord is the strength of my life. this gives me the ability to overcome all fear. I will put my trust in Him. This was the key to David's victories. David was a king who knew how to depend upon the Lord. David won many battles and overcome all of his enemies.
The word of God is the sword of the Spirit. A sword is used in war. The Holy Spirit opened our eyes to great truths and we are still learning!

God is the source of all our victories and breakthrough. He is the source of our wisdom and strategies. His Word is the source of our understanding of the warfare.

Confessing the Word of God is an important part of every believer's spiritual life!
Christianity is called the great confession. Salvation comes from confessing with the mouth. The mouth is connected to the heart. the Word of God released from your mouth will be planted in your heart. Faith is released from the mouth. The mouth can only releases what is in the heart. Faith in the heart that is released through the mouth can move mountains!

Let us rely on God!

Without Jesus there is not one thing that I can do or accomplish on my own.

But, since He is revealing Himself to me more and more about His grace, love and truth I now know I can do it ALL and I mean everything and not one thing life out.

My revelation of Jesus in me and me in Him is causing a revolution in my personal life.

He has a plan for me and the condition of my body is very important to Him so that I can carry out what He has for me to do.

He wants me to prosper and be in health even as my soul is prospering, so I have to make Jesus a priority in my life with each new day...and I am having so much fun doing it and this losing weight thing His way and not my way...it is life transforming for me in the name of Jesus.

I have a total new out look on my life because of Jesus right now.

THE UPPER ROOM: Answered Prayer!

Monday, June 03, 2013

Read 2 timothy 1:3-10

Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds. Heb. 10:24

My family believes in God but will not attend church with me. At times, I become discouraged, and my attendance becomes irregular. One sunday instead of going to church alone. I decided to stay home with my family. I was feeling out to God about my loneliness and my longing for family worship. not long after I prayed. I heard a knock at the door. My brother stood on our porch with his five-year old daughter. Emma. he asked if she could go to church with me. Emma had gotten up that morning, dressed, and told him that she wanted to go to church. My brother doesn't attend church: but he did not want to discourage Emma, so he drove he en miles to my home to send her to church with me.

That day, I did sit alone in church. As I held Emnma's hand, I realized that God had spoken tome through this child. Emma helped me not to feel so alone. God showed love to both of us that day.

Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for your love and case. Help us to see that sometimes our prayers are answered in unexpected ways. Amen.

THE UPPER ROOM: Life's Seasons

emoticon emoticon emoticon
John 3:1-7
Jesus said, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born above." John 3:3

The day after my brother's funeral a "Nor'easter"' blizzard blew in with winds that whipped the snow into twisting funnels. That was in April. the following day I trudged through the cemetery. It all seemed surreal; my brother's death, me at his grave, and mounds of snow burying the flowers. Where was spring-the season we associate with rebirth, regeneration, and resurrection?
When my brother died, I entered a season of severe depression. I was 40 years old and didn't attend church or even worship God. But God still heard my desperate cries for help. A desire to attend church came over me, and I began searching the telephone directory. I made an appointment with a pastor for grief/spiritual counseling. In compassion, God had led me there, and I entered a new season of life when I heard the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. My life and my spirit were transformed. I was born again.
Our loving and merciful God "desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim.2:4) No matter what we've done, God offers each of us rebirth through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hope, redemption, and eternal life are God's priceless gifts to us.

Prayer: Thank you, loving god, for seeking us before we knew that we needed you.

Sorry about the loss of your brother. I know what it is like to lose a mother, father, and child. Through each loss, I felt God's arms embracing my heart.

I am so glad even in that time of loss that the Holy Spirit lead you to the place of salvation. Praise His Holy Name; there is no one so great as our LORD!

Thank you for sharing,

THE UPPER ROOM: Faith rather than fear!

Luke 12:13-21
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven. Matthew 6:19-20

Today in my country, we are suffering from tremendous insecurity because of widespread violence. This has caused many of us to avoid owing automobiles or jewellery because having them exposes us to the danger of losing our possessions or even our lives. Living under these extreme circumstances reminds us of Jesus message not to store up treasures on earth but to seek rather the kingdom of heaven. Even with al our precautions not to appear wealthy, a young man wielding a gun stole my wife's car. My wife was no harmed, thank goodness; and the thief did not take her purse or the keys to our house. However, we have not been able to forge this incident. My wife reminds me, "We did not lose only the car; we lost our security and sense of peace."
Today, we live modestly our of necessity rather than conviction. The disciples of Jesus went a step further. For their faith, they left everything the knew to seek the kingdom of heaven. Our challenge is to nurture our spiritual growth and to place it ahead of absurd accumulation of riches-to act our of faith rather than fear.

Prayer: Faithful God, give us strength to place you first in our lives, above all that we own. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen!

Amen! Fear is faith in reverse... fear is faith in the devil.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus always emphasized the importance of faith, to 'fear not' but "believe only." Great blog, Sis! emoticon Karen
